Does anyone "know" the official policy on this?

TIA

No they are not. Those are the actual towels in your room your not supposed to take them.

LOL....Ya think we can all agree to end this thread right here?

I have to admit, that I did take 2 towel bunnies that our mousekeeper left us, I didn't even THINK I shouldn't....
I hope you can all forgive me. ;)

They are made from your room towels. They are not yours to keep. We always take pictures of them.

Actually, the "towel" animals are generally made from 1 or 2 washclothes.

If you ask your mousekeeper, s/he'll will most likely tell you they are your's to keep. Our's did!

Though, be sure to look out for the DISney police on your way out......:duck:

I bet if everyone took the towel animals Disney would decide to stop making these cute little items.:earsboy:

Here's a question. If you leave the towel animals, do you think that mousekeeping dismantles them and washes the towels? Or do they reuse them unwashed for the next guest?

Well, I won't lose sleep over the fact that I took my washcloth animals. At least I am being honest and admit that I took them.

OPPS,
I also have a Wascaly Wabbit
062.gif
that hopped into my luggage with me.
It was my first towel animal...I promise I'll never do it again.

We did recieve other little things during our stay I had to undo some just to have a washcloth.

Shoot, our mousekeeper made a hammock out of a sheet, I could have taken that as well, oh well maybe next time. LOL

Wow! The thought of taking our washcloth "animals" home after our last trip never even crossed my mind! :earseek:

Our mousekeeper made very elaborate displays. I had no intention of taking any of this home, but somehow when I was unpacking I found a mouse and a snake!

Wishing everyone a "magical" day!

:( :( :( :sad2:

I've stayed at resorts about 15 times, including the GF, Cont. (2) and Poly (2) and never received a towel animal!!

sob

On an Easter trip last year DD then 7 begged for the bunny and I wouldn't let her have it. My mom was with us and she kept saying I should let her have it--I gave Mom the lecture that if everyone took them the price of a resort would skyrocket--she saw it my way after that! LOL I'd rather have them make me little things like this to help make the vacation more magical than risk losing the little things that make disney resorts special.

One question...Are the people who think it is okay to take home towel animals the same people who think it is a sin to resort pool hop??? Just curious how the ethics run. Signed someone who pool hopped once.

Here's an official communication from Disney on towel animals.

This was taken from a thread on the Debate Board about a year and a half ago:

Regarding the taking of towel animals, me personally, it would never occur to me to take them if they were left in the room. Now for official word from Disney:

This is an email that was sent to Disney (not by me):
I would please like the "official" word on the following subject please.

When a guest of a WDW resort receives, in their room, a 'creation' fashioned out of towels/washcloths, for example a bunny or duck shape, with added stickers as faces, etc...is it in fact an intended 'gift' from Disney/Disney's Housekeeping
for the guest to take such an item home with them upon checkout....or is it considered 'theft' if the guest removes said item from the room and takes it home. Would a guest have to 'ask permission' from the housekeeper or other
Disney CM in order for it to be 'considered a gift'...or, is it 'presumed' by Disney that the guest will/should take the item home.

Put another way...are these washcloth animals considered a room amenity/decor/property as in bedding, regular towels, ashtrays, coffee pots, furniture, shower curtains...or a consumable, such as shampoos, soaps, matches,
pens, note paper?

Here you can see it being passed among Disney castmembers:

The reply:
xxxx,
After reviewing the email below, it seems as though this guest is asking for clarification. Since it's not a suggestion or idea, I'm returning for your handling.
Thanks.

And then Disney's official reply:
Dear xxxxx,

Thank you for contacting WALT DISNEY WORLD!

We appreciate your patience as we researched your inquiry.

While there is no "official" written policy, we spoke with one of the housekeeping managers, who advised that the washcloth "creations" are indeed considered "gifts" which guests are permitted to take home with them.

We hope that you will find this information helpful, and we look forward to future opportunities to entertain you.

If you have questions or need further assistance, feel free to contact us.

Please include your full name, E-Mail address, and reservation number if applicable on all correspondence.

Thank you!

Sincerely,

xxxxx
