ARE THE RUMORS TRUE

Recently the Senior Senator from Great State of Alabama announced he would not seek re-election. Intending instead to run for the Govenor's Seat.
My sources are telling me that few have thrown their hats in the ring as of yet. One name however is being heard being bantered about in certain circles.
If what my sources tell me is true none other than our own BAMA ED will be entering the political arena. Running as an independent from the Secret Squirrel Party. They are, further telling me that Tigger Dad will be his Campaign Manager and South Alabama Fiver will be his Press spokesman.
This news has me excited.

I think the 'Senior' Senator, (we call him Tubs), is still serving his first term, dude. But he had his coaching career cut short by the Bama football teams which is why he took the easy way out to retire for a few years then run for US political office instead.

But, hey, Grandma Governor (a Barner girl) is in her 2nd term and can't run again. I have to say that she's been better than nobody. (to say, she's been better than the past loser/criminals we've had before as "Guvner".)

Speaking for myself (to quote William Tecumseh Sherman):

- If nominated, I will not run
- If elected, I will not serve

Honestly, speaking for me (again), @tiggerdad, and @SouthAlabama5er, none of us can accept the PAY CUT that public office would require. Sorry to disappoint you and all the other Delaware voters.

But we appreciate your interest in all things Alabama. I'm sure it beats whatever you got going on in the <wherever Delaware is-next to North Dakota?> area. When your post loaded up on my computer screen, though, I saw your image flash by first and I know that I'd seen that same image somewhere before.

PS - We also used to refer to Tubs as "Wingnut".

PPS - however I will say the JUNIOR Senator from the great state of Alabama is kinda cute, you gotta admit .... She's a Bama girl, don't ya know ?

PPPS - and to put your mind at ease, it's true: Bamaland is the greatest place in the whole WIDE world.. All the Yankees that are planning to retire here should head to California instead, though. That's what I hear, anway ....

Spent yesterday over in Alabama up on my property in northern Tuscaloosa county visiting family and bushhogging. I'll admit while I live in the sister state of Mississippi, I continue to hold on to my late fathers property there as I do seriously consider moving there one day but I don't know if they would have me. That being said, if @bama_ed was to run for office I'd certainly put up a mailbox just to cast a vote.

I'll admit while I live in the sister state of Mississippi, I continue to hold on to my late fathers property there as I do seriously consider moving there one day but I don't know if they would have me. That being said, if @bama_ed was to run for office I'd certainly put up a mailbox just to cast a vote.

We would take you as a citizen of the Yellowhammer (state bird) State, @tiggerdad, because:

- you do own the property and continue to pay the taxes on said property (I assume)
- you do have a degree from an Alabama educational institution
- you are a Crimson Tide man

When/if the time comes I think we could convince Governor Tuberville (or whoever is the Chief Executive on Goat Hill in Montgomery) to welcome you to the state and issue you an Alabama Driver's License.

I admit I had to google Pat Paulsen which led me to the Smothers Brothers tv show. It turns out I recognized Pat's face and the sound of his voice but not his shtick nor his comedy.

That makes sense since I had not even started kindergarten yet. Google tells me the Smothers Brothers were on tv at 9pm Eastern on Friday nights (I was an Ohio kid at the time) which was WAY past my bedtime since I was usually focused on weekend play days with the kids on my brick street (had to get enough rest to run fast enough for the fight-to-the-death games of 'Kick The Can' and 'Dodge Ball').

But I guess YOU'RE old enough to have stayed up and watched Pat and Tommy and Dick on Friday nights. And your reference to Jim/ @Teamubr means you think he's old enough to remember that too (although he claims to be younger than me but I don't believe him ).

I do thank you, though, for your interest in all things Alabama. I'm afraid I can't reciprocate my interest in New Jersey however. Have you and your bride found a Florida winter home yet? We'd all love to come down and talk our way past the HOA Security Guard at the pool and drop your name along the way as our host. I promise to behave and be friendly to your neighbors.

Ed, I was the ripe old age of 11 during Pat Paulsen's Presidential Run. So, I remember it quite clearly.
Please do not mistake me for being from New Jersey. I consider that state a good place to be from. The further away from it I am the more gooderer . I grew up on the South Shore of Long Island before NYS turned to the dark side and laid out the blueprint for the left coast. Today we are in Deliwear only for tax reasons.
Yes we found our Snowbird Nest, on the north side of Lakeland. Our guard is at the entrance to the community, and you need to be preannounced before they will let you in. But we know how to do that.
