Are morning EMHs worth it?

We are morning people. We always do RD at DLR. We've done Magic Morning over there.

What are the morning EMHs like at WDW? Are lines short? Can we get a lot done?

We are only going to get park hopper tickets if the morning EMHs are worth it. We would go the the park with morning EMH first and then hop to another park with our FP+ made ahead of time for the second park. Is this just more hassle than it's worth? I've heard that transportation can take a while at WDW, up to an hour to get to the next park.

I'm rambling, but basically if EMH is worth it then we'll spend the extra money on hoppers and deal with the hassle of traveling between parks. If it's not worth it, then we won't.

Go to the park that had extra magic hours the day before. Avoid extra magic hours all together.

OP - Your plan matches what we've done in the past with great results. Hit the morning EMH park at RD, then hop to another park once the first park starts to get busy. :-)

Great! So you've done this... Did you get a lot done during morning EMH?

Yes! I don't have our notes with me right now so I can't list the specifics. However, we did get a lot done during (and right after) morning EMH. Usually by about 11am we're either at or on the way to another park.

We got a ton done at our EMH at MK. We were there in mid-August. By 9am we had gone on five rides with almost no waiting - Pooh, Dumbo, Barnstormer, Peter Pan, and Tea Cups. At 9am my niece and sister had a FP for A&E. The rest of us got a snack. Then we did Haunted Mansion, ETWB, Little Mermaid and Small World. Again with little to no wait. We also fit in a Carousel ride there at some point. We had an 11:30 lunch ADR at CP and checked in early. Then went back to the hotel for a break. The park was definitely crowded we returned after our break. It is true that the EMH parks are more crowded that day. But at that point, most of us (except sister and niece) still had three FPs to use. We did Jungle Cruise and Pirates with FP. Short standby wait for Magic Carpets and Tiki Room. Then some of us had a FP for Space Mt. and nephew and Grandma used a FP for speedway. So, even though it was crowded. We saw a lot in one day.

You can expect shorter waits during EMH morning times, but not for everything or always. Most people are still going to head for the headliners in each park, as long as you are there early during EMH time, you should get in quite a bit during the first hour. I tend to go to the EMHs because I am an early bird and then tend to hop elsewhere anywhere from 9:30 - 12:00 depending on what I want to accomplish. Depending on the attractions I choose, I can usually get 3-5 attractions done in the first hour. Granted, I usually only try for 1-2 headliner during the EMH except for AK. I did once get in TSM, TT, RnR (x2), and ST all in the first hour of DHS EMH, but it was an oddly slow day at most of the parks that day.

If you have not already looked at the list of the attractions with EMH, here they are: http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/earlyentry.htm

I think they are worth it. We would do BTMRR a couple times along with some others and grab a FP for Space. Of course that was with the old FP system. We always got a lot done during morning EMH. I personally like it more than evening.

When MK has EMH, do they do the opening park show at the scheduled park opening time or the EMH opening time?

We generally like the evening EMH hours better, but the morning ones are good, too. The only time I felt like it was a total waste was at Epcot. Because the World Showcase isn't open yet everyone is confined to Future World, and EP has really 2 rides that everyone is there for- Soarin and Test Track. The entire EMH crowd basically splits in half with one heading left to TT and one right to Soarin. We waited 40 minutes for TT at rope drop on an EMH day. Other than that I would recommend them.

EMH in the morning is great when you have park hoppers. I have set the FP+ for late morning in a non EMH park, but started out at the EMH park.

Grab what I can in the first hour or two then hop over to the park where I set up FP+.

However, I've tried EVENING EMH at Epcot and DHS, both were total waste of time, no decrease in SB lines at all. I think I may have done MK a long time ago but it doesn't seem to have made an impression so not sure that I care about trying anymore.

However I'll still do AM EMH, if I get up in time anyway. I admit I'm likely to change my mind at 7am and just sleep in.

We love morning EMH! We get there before the park opens, get a ton done in the first hour or two and then leave once it starts getting crowded about lunch time. We hop to a different park after a break at the resort.

We have done morning EMH and been very successful. last year we did it on Thanksgiving Day (Yes that was a 7 am EMH at MK! ) we got more done that morning then most people did in 2 days that week! Other times we have done it, it works great. With Epcot and HS it makes doing headliners with the tiered FP+system easy. We actually could have ridden soarin twice one morning stand by with a FP for Test track.

Misse320 - yes they do the morning show for EMH. I believe they do a modified version for regular opening on those days (not sure though we are usually inside the park on our 6th attraction:-))

One thing I would say is check the lists of what is open for the parks during morning EMH (they are different in the evening) to make sure what you want to ride is open.

We are night people so we prefer the evening EMH. I especially love them at MK. I just think the park is even more fun at night. Not all the lines are reduced, but many are just walk on.
