yes we feel they are rooms are nicely dec. likethe feel of a deluxe hotel. Usually have nice restaurants for a special diner.

I selected "other" because while there are Deluxes that I adore (AKL, BC, CR!) there are also Deluxes I would never choose over ANY of the moderates (SSR, OKW, WL, most DVCs). It's just not very black and white for me, and it's not just a matter of preferring one set of amenities over the other. I consider the amenities, the theme, the room decor, the restaurants, the transportation, etc!

It really is incredibly subjective. I personally like the MK monorail resorts. When the monorail runs like it's supposed to (I know, I know) I find them to be very convenient. We especially like the Poly for it access to monorail AND the TTC. This year we are going moderate because we got a decent deal on a pin offer.

Location, location, location. The MK and Epcot deluxes can't be beat for convenience to the parks.

If we're taking a long trip, I don't care as much about proximity to the parks, but if it's a shorter trip, I'll happily pay for being close to the parks. We also love balconies in our room.

I like the inside corridors of the deluxe resorts and the location. I also like the TS places. I have done moderates but prefer Deluxe and we just bought into DVC for more space.

When I stayed at AKL my predominate thought was "worth every penny" ::yes::- when I stayed at SSR not so much - would have been just as happy with a moderate I think.

Just need opinions here. Do you think the Deluxe resorts are worth the price increase over a mod?

When I plan a trip, and the deluxe is nearly twice what we pay for a mod, my #1 consideration is, would my kids prefer going twice to the world or staying in a nice resort once? You can guess which I decide? We stay at French Quarter or Riverside every time. Perfect example, we were just at French Quarter in Nov, and are going back to Riverside in August...for less than 1 trip to Poly. Just my .02!

I just started to plan our next trip "home" and even though we've visited a few of the deluxe resorts and dined at a few, walked the grounds of even more my girls especially my oldest loves the Cornado Springs resort. We consider it the higher end of the moderates and it holds such a special place in our hearts. We love the quiet pools, the buses to/from the parks and the grounds are so huge we feel like we could walk for a while and still discover new things.
I'm still tossing around the idea of staying in a delux because we recently had a huge winfall of money but I'm thinking a Disney vacation and then a trip to Bora-Bora or Fiji instead of just a deluxe venture, but we'll see what the fam decides once we finalize every detail.

I LOVE many of the Deluxe resorts, especially the EPCOT ones (location). But this poll is asking if they are worth the price increase. For me, I'd say no. Especially since I can stay at Swan for mod prices and enjoy all the great EPCOT resort goodies for less than half the $$.

CSR for $200 a night is just a better deal than Poly or BC for $390 to $400 IMO.

If you can swing the extra $$ easily, then it doesn't matter. But even though I love the deluxe resorts, unless I can get a deal, I'm more than happy to stay at CSR or POR.

As others have said, the location may be "worth it". With the respect to the actual quality of the room, YMMV. You can always visit/hangout/dine the deluxe resorts. :earsboy:

I voted yes for many reasons:

* Indoor Corridors
* Location, Location, Location
* Varied Transportation options (walking, boats, monorail)
* Larger rooms
* Table Service options
* Amenities
* Theming
* CL option

I'm sure there are more reasons that are escaping me right now, but yes, absolutely, there is justification for the difference in price.

For me yes, unless it's the CSR than no. Next trip I am so sad that I can't get CSR so I am going for the Yacht Club.

CSR is the only mod I will stay at. It's a great resort, but I don't feel sorry for you at all.:laughing: The YC is a great resort. Enjoy your stay.

Location, location, location. The MK and Epcot deluxes can't be beat for convenience to the parks.

I'm with this poster! Location for us.

I chose "other" as well since there are too many variables. Not every deluxe is worth it to me.

I'd also like to add that when I can't afford to stay at a deluxe, I'm (for the most part) happy and accepting of staying at a moderate or value at WDW since they are so well themed and fun. When we do stay at a mod or value though, my minor chattering complaints are usually about the lesser quality toiletry amenities, comfort of the bed, hearing the noise outside, or how long the bus takes to get somewhere. However, I LOVE the food courts in the value resorts:) None of my minor complaints are deal-breakers. They are just a longing for some of the perks of the deluxe.

I voted yes because I think that BC is worth every penny more that we pay to stay there. It has a great location, the rooms and decor are wonderful and you can't beat SAB.

But having said that, we are activating APs this year and that means about 7 or 8 trips planned for us this year and there is no way we can justify staying deluxe for each of those stays. We will be looking for more affordable accommodations. We have one trip planned for POR and another for Swan. The others will depend on how we feel about those two stays. But if you are only going to WDW once a year or once every few years and can afford the upgrade, I say it is so worth it!

We've stayed at three deluxes and only one moderate, but yes, for us the deluxes were worth the price increase.

If money was a concern, I would say no. WDW Deluxes are not very deluxe. The major appeal is location and a pretty penny is charged for it.

I would not cut corners in other areas of the vacation in order to stay at a deluxe over a moderate.

This thread reminds me that I need to stay at one of the Port Orleans resorts someday soon, lots of positive feedback from alomst *everyone* who has stayed there and it's at a "moderate" price(for Disney anyways).

I can't say for sure yet but I am leaning towards no for me. I think my expectations of a deluxe are too high especially when compared to other hotels at the same price point that I have stayed at (outside WDW). Like I said, I haven't stayed at a WDW deluxe so I don't speak from experience.
