Disboards is too sensitive. When I say better people to go deluxe I don't mean anyone who goes to moderate or value is low quality. I'm talking about all the rude foreigners, the people who bring cases of beer into the rooms, and another feature that I don't need to say but is obvious.

There is that obvious word again... I am so lost. Maybe I should stay at a Deluxe to see what I am missing!!

I voted "other" because I believe that the dynamics of the vacation play into the value of the resort.

Most of the time we stay in a Moderate. My favorite is POFQ but I also like CBR. We are not commando folks and do enjoy the resort amenities so the resort is important to us. Once in a while we use the resort more and that is when we stay Deluxe. For instance this trip we are arriving on Thanksgiving Day. We decided to stay at the BC because my DGD (and I) wanted to enjoy the pool as well as that nice Epcot location. The extra money is worth it because we plan on spending more time than usual at the resort.

If we planned on more park time than resort time a moderate would be fine. I always try to factor in our vacation goals before booking a resort to make sure our money is spent in a purposeful way.

This is great advice! Thank you. I have never stayed on site so really can't vote.

With any Disney trip for us it's a balance. I personally can't say they are worth it or not without a bunch of qualifiers.
We have 5 this trip because we're bringing a friend for dd. With the prices I was able to get, Deluxe won out over AoA or 2 rooms at a Value for us. When it's just the four of us, I'd rather rent points or stay at a mod. If it's a budget trip, we'd be happy to go and stay at Pop to be able to go and have onsite amenities. So there's really no one answer for us.

What I can say with absolutely certainly for us is that Disney Deluxe is NOT worth it for us at rack rate. We've stayed in some beautiful hotels that were much nicer for much less outside of DW so I can't justify 3 or 4 hundred a night for a rack rate. But even then, that's my personal opinion. What I love about Disney is with enough planning and searching I can usually find a deal I can live with.

While I like the mods, and have stayed there I don't think we will again. It's either values for commando trips or deluxe for the more relaxing trips.

This thread reminds me that I need to stay at one of the Port Orleans resorts someday soon, lots of positive feedback from alomst *everyone* who has stayed there and it's at a "moderate" price(for Disney anyways).

We've stayed at POFQ twice, and our upcoming August trip (25th-Sept 2) would make three if FD had been offered there...we choose POR since it's close to FQ, and still allows us to use boat to DD!

As far as FQ goes, we adore the resort, and will continue to call it home for many years to come. We were just there in Nov 2011, and are returning so soon because we love it! Small size, great pool and pool bar, grass courtyard, Mardi Gras themes, I could go on & on...plus, we had our honeymoon in New Orleans, so POFQ was a great spot for our 10th anniversary!

Hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

Infinite yes. Besides a better overall hotel, better accomodations, and (I know this will make me sound stuck up but trust me I'm not I'm just pointing out the obvious) nicer quality of people, all have their perks. AKL-animals outside rooms, BC and YC-walk/boat to EPCOT and DHS, Poly, GF, Contemporary-monorail service, BWI-shops and walking to parks (I believe), and WL-seclusion, best theming (in my opinion), boat to MK.

I actually think I understood what you were trying to say and I am not offended by your comments at all - some on these boards become completely defensive pretty easily and this subject matter almost always bring the best and worst out in people.

The beauty of forums is to be able to give your opinion - just seems like if your opinion differs from some others, you get a lashing, don't sweat it - you are entitled.

IMO if I am not staying at a Deluxe I would rather stay at a value. The difference from a value to a moderate is just not big enough to pay for it. Especially since the values now have free wi-fi and refrigerators. One of my best views was at POP over looking the lake.

I feel deluxe are worth it because of the location, I like being able to walk to a resort or take a boat.

As to the comments above. I don't think that there is a better class of people at deluxe. I do however believe there are less people at a deluxe and it may feel like a "better class" because it isn't as crowded. I saw jerks when I stayed at GF and at POP, I certainly wouldn't say there were more at POP.

Our next trip we are at AoA at the beginning and AKL at the end and I am looking forward to both!

I feel just the opposite. I think the jump from value to CSR or POR is bigger than the jump from CSR to WL or AKL.

Just sharing... :)

Someone is...RATIONAL?!?! Hahaha thanks for being open to what I have to say as opposed to making a melodramatic, sarcastic response followed by laughing smiley faces. Thanks for noticing I'm not being malicious in my original comment and I'm just point out a fact. Looks like some opinions are more right than others on here....

So, you're melodramatically and defensively chastising me for being... melodramatic and defensive. Got it. Honestly, I took no offense to your comment, nor do I think anyone else did, as exhibited by the humorous, sarcastic responses, which signify disagreement and confusion, perhaps, but not moral outrage. No one responded with "whaaaaaat? how dare you?! I am a well-bred member of the upper echelons of society and I happen to love both beer and Pop Century!" which would certainly merit your follow-up comment.

As you say yourself, everyone's entitled to their opinion. You voiced yours, and I followed suit. I disagree with you. Others disagree with you. Some still don't even understand what you're implying and want clarification. There's no reason to act like you've been vilified.

I would give a qualified yes, and note that if you are really on a tight budget, I don't think it's worthwhile, but if you have a little more flexibility in your budget, then yes.

We have stayed at six deluxe and three mods. We have loved them all. If money is no object and you'd love to stay deluxe, then I say go for it. However, if you're on the fence, I would never pay rack rate for a deluxe. It's just not worth that price, imo. But for a good deal, I do so look forward to our deluxe stays. We love the mods, too, though, and would definitely stay at any one of them again. The grounds are beautiful and we have so many fond memories of all our mod stays.

I promise I'm not trying to be contentious, but I couldn't let that one go. Your statement that the deluxes have a better class of people (or... whatever your original statement was precisely) is not a fact. It's an opinion. One that you were stating AS a fact... Especially because you said "obviously" a few times. I think if you had said "IMO the people at the deluxes are superior" then OK, that's your opinion, you're entitled to it, grats. But saying that it's an obvious truth... I think that's why a few people got a bit riled. I'm sure we all get what you're trying to say, and no, you never came across as malicious. :flower3:

In all honesty I didn't know you responded to my post. Unless I called you out I probably wasn't bothered by what you said or just didn't bother responding. My comment was melodramatic because I was pissed off at that time but no, I don't believe it was too defensive. I'm glad you didn't take offense but some people did and that's what caused this...disagreement. I got a considerable amount of sarcastic comments such as "oh my I went to pop century once, I must be low class then :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:" and that's what annoyed me. I can't explain the implied part without potentially making a pretty offensive remark so if they truly can't pick up what I'm referring to then it's best that they don't know. And vilified? No, I think that's a bit extreme. I have been singled out and to an extent talked to in a somewhat condescending manner for my opinion, but it's not like I'm gonna quit the forum out of anger.

As above I don't distinctly remember your comment so chances are i wasn't too bothered by what you said. It's not a fact because it's impossible to confirm that, but it's probably as close to one as it can get. I completely understand what your saying (I hope) but I am not saying nicer or smarter people go to deluxe resorts, I'm saying higher class are (there, I've said it to anyone who was wondering what I was implying.) So I would never say that people at deluxe resorts are superior. (In all honesty, my favorite "communities" are at moderate resorts, deluxe can get snobby haha.) But it's good to see the understanding people coming out and contributing on clearing the air with this situation. Looks like a lot of misinterprutations occured (and maybe some unjustified assumptions and jumping to conclusions) occured which is why people, as you said, became so riled.

So you're implying something offensive but don't want to actually say it for fear of offending someone?

This topic is interesting to me since the price of deluxe resorts at Disney always puts me off.

We have stayed at higher end resorts in other locations. For example, we love all 3 resorts at Universal Orlando, but it seems to me that Disney charges way too much for what they are offering. $400 a night is just too much for me when I can pay $200 to stay somewhere else even nicer. I am interested in trying more deluxes (I have only stayed at AKL) and I have even booked them a few times but I always end up switching back to the mods.

All that to say that I love the mods at Disney and I feel they are a good value for the money. We have stayed at all 4 and loved all 4. :)

When I plan a trip, and the deluxe is nearly twice what we pay for a mod, my #1 consideration is, would my kids prefer going twice to the world or staying in a nice resort once? You can guess which I decide? We stay at French Quarter or Riverside every time. Perfect example, we were just at French Quarter in Nov, and are going back to Riverside in August...for less than 1 trip to Poly. Just my .02!

The only problem with this logic is the room is only a small portion of the total cost. For me with 4 people's airfare, park tickets and meals for a week I am spending close to $4,000 for a week without factoring in hotel cost. Going for 2 seperate weeks at a moderate is still significantly more money than 1 week at a deluxe. If I went multiple times a year I would probably stay at the moderates or values too, but I am more of a once every other year visitor so I like to have the convenient locations and extra amenities.

What is wrong with bringing in a case of beer?
We don't becos we use ME and the cost of going offsite to bring in beer/soda etc isn't worth the effort or time for DH & I. We have picked up a 12 pack or 2 on other trips. We do that when we have a rental or there is a store within walking distance.
By the way I have run into enough rude fellow citizens to know rudeness is universal.
