Are any of the CS's good at MGM?

I'm planning our trip (for next October) and we will be on the dining plan. For MGM, I was looking at Backlot Express, Catalina Eddie's, Rosie's, Toy Story Pizza, or Sci-Fi for lunch. Any suggestions, food you really liked or disliked?? I'm staying away from ABC based on other reviews I've seen on it. popcorn::

Sci-Fi is not a counter service. The food there, for table service, was fair. Out of all of the other ones you suggested, we have eaten at Backlot Express and it wasn't too bad. We have never eaten at the Toy Story Pizza--my husband does not like Florida pizza at all. In reality, MGM is very lacking in selection and quality at CS restaurants.

Sorry, I should have clarified that we will be doing the deluxe dining plan - so whether it's table service or CS doesn't really matter I guess. Basically just looking for somewhere good to eat for lunch. :yay:

Some on here will disagree, but we thought the pizzas at Pizza Planet were horrible - worse than frozen from the grocery store IMO. It was also loud, crowded and the CM's were rude. Sorry for the bluntness - I don't have a lot of time today to make it sound nicer :goodvibes . On the other hand, we do enjoy SciFi - its not always the best food, but if you order something simple, its OK and the atmosphere is loads of fun. I don't think MGM has any great CS places.

I had some pretty decent chicken at the Flatbread Grill (Studio Catering Company) two weeks ago. I think it came with rice and beans. My Mom got the pulled pork there, which my little girl proceeded to polish off. I know it wasn't on your list of consideration, but it was one of the better counter service meals I encountered (not counting Downtown Disney choices, yum!)

I would have to agree that the pizza from Pizza Planet was not that good....certainly not like NY pizza :rolleyes1

We have eaten at all the CS places at the Studios and can honestly say that we do not like any of them. If I get hungry I get a hot dog from the stand by ToT.

While the backlot express isn't fancy we thought the food was actually pretty good in August. We absolutely hate Sci-Fi...the atmosphere is fantastic and they have a few good options, but all in all have never had a good experience there.

Are you including Flatbread Grill in your vote or just the CS restaurants listed by the OP? I have been hearing good things about Flatbread Grill and was going to give it a try...

We really enjoyed Sci-Fi for lunch. Had the onion rings, burger and yummy chocolate shake. All were very very good! From all the reviews I had read before we left, I thought it best to keep our orders simple. We did and we were not dissapointed! And my kids loved the atmosphere. We will definately be eating there again. :thumbsup2

We enjoyed Toy Story Pizza as a CS. If you are on the DDDP, and can use a TS for lunch, is 50's PrimeTime a choice? We LOVED it... went there twice during our 2007 trip! :thumbsup2

I thought the Backlot Express was good. The food at Sci fi isn't very good but the atmosphere is nice.
