Vero Beach Slide Races....Over?

I thought I read somewhere that the resort discontinued these races for some reason. Wondering if any of you know if it's true :-(

That's what I heard too -- "encourages unsafe behavior". Was at VB last week, and can confirm there were no slide races. :-(
