AP's Not out yet

Very true about the discounts being gone by the time the Monitor arrives.

Unless this time they are not going to release the rates into their system until the Monitor has had time to arrive to the majority of the pass holders that get it.

Possibly they have decided that the guests who actually already have the pass have been shut out of the discounts by guests booking the discounts and then buying the pass after they are sure they will get a discount.

It will be interesting to see what happens, but I do believe there is a reason for the delay.

So true about the MM, if you wait to receive it before you book an AP rate, they'll be long gone. It wouldn't help much to hold the codes until the MM is mailed out to AP holders. There's a website that posts the MM weeks before I ever get it. That's where I always find out what's in it.

Can you post a link to the site that has the micky moniter? I lost the link when my cpu crashed and haven't been able to find it. Thanks:p

I agree with the MM opinion that rates are gone by the time they arrive. Also, I've NEVER had them ask me for my AP when I check-in. I've actually said "Do you want to see my pass" and the woman said "If you want to show me it". Perhaps people who aren't entitled to get the discount are getting it and that is making Disney not want to offer it. Perhaps Disney should actually CHECK the passes at check-in to make sure only AP users are taking advantage of their rate.

No AP's as of noon ET. :( I'm begining to wonder if there will be AP's for the June/July time frame :(

I think we are all beginning to wonder the same thing. More so those of us who are going sooner.

The Mickey Monitor is the newsletter that us mailed to annual passholders. It was always my understanding that the AP rates were released when the monitor came out.

This is the way Disney communicates with its AP holders - it doesn't just let people call in until someone posts it on the internet . When/if the AP rates are released how does Disney communicate it to its AP holders? I don't think they just have a bunch of rates sitting around waiting for people to call in for them.

I could be wrong, but the MM rates are usually for the quarter ahead of when its published. AP rates are handled the same as codes as far as announcing or distributing. At least they haven't been in the past to my knowledge. Again I could be wrong.

Honestly, I doh't know the answer to your question. All I know is that the AP rates I've used were published here and on other sites weeks before I ever received the MM.

But just because you didn't get your MM yet doesn't mean that someone else hasn't already gotten it. My point is that I believe this is how they are originally released and whoever happens to get the monitor first leaks the information out.

I would ask when the next Mickey Monitor is expected to be published - it may give a better indication.

The MM is the line of communication between Disney and its AP holders. Unfortunately there can be delays in that information line, but as others have pointed out there are ways to get the published info before its received direct at your home.

When were the May/summer AP rates made available last years - does anyone know? That may also be an indication.

For those looking for rates past the current code - given the holiday and Spring Breaks and other available discounts there just might not be any need for additional AP rates - but that doesn't mean that summer AP's won't be released. I really believe its tied into the MM publication - that is what I would try to find out. JMO and again I could be wrong.

Melissa

The next MM is not due out until May. Also, it is not available to those of us not located in USA.

Sometimes I'm a little slow;) ...I get your point now. I suppose that may be true, it certainly makes sense....but.....

A little while back I did a search to see just when the summer rates were available last year. The first "news" published here that I could find was Jan. 26th for the time frame of 4/21 - 9/30. Since the MM is published in Feb., May, Aug., and Nov., that would have been long before the March publication came out. So, who knows????

I may be wrong but I seem to remember that the AP codes last year (2002) came out in late Feb and the year before (2001) it was the middle of March. In 2001, they came out on a Sat in the afternnon. I have the feeling they are not coming out for the spring but maybe just for the summer. But then again who knows because both my sister and I tried for 3 days to get a night added at the Poly for a discounted rate and our agent was able to get it without a problem.

I happened to save the link about last year's ap rates...

http://disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=149754&highlight=annual+pass+rates

As you can see, they were talking about them already being out on Jan 26th. They may have been out a little earlier than the 26th, but with the search I did, that's the first post that showed up discussing ap rates for summer 2002.

Now the question is....When does the MM that is dated for February actually get sent out? Perhaps there are some who get the Feb. MM in January? I know it isn't me! I think I was the last one on earth that got this February's!!

The things I do to pass the time waiting for AP rates to come out!!;)

The February 03 MM I received is postmarked Feb. 5th. This is the MM that has the AP rates through April 9th. It would be cutting it close if Disney does not release the May - June AP rates until the next MM is published. I am assuming it would not be mailed out until the end of April or beginning of May. I am beginning to wonder (like others) if there will be any AP rates for the summer. Maybe Disney is only going to offer the public codes this time around.

I have to believe they will have the AP rates. I cant remember them not having them. Most likely they will come out later than usual for a reason we can only speculate about. It may be that they will have better rates than normal due to less people coming due to the war and the economy. Or maybe someone is just on vacation or who knows what.

They were released exactly 3 weeks before the dates they became available.
According to Mousesavers the rates for 2/17/03 - 4/9/03 became available on 1/27/03.
There was also a small time period that no AP rates appear to have been available: 2/13/03 - 2/16/03.
I don't know if AP rates have been available around previous Easter breaks; but assuming that the week before and of Easter this year will have no AP rates, possibly the next date they will be available is 4/27 or 4/28; so I'm hoping for Sunday or Monday, if not earlier, but who knows:confused:

I guess I'm just trying to give myself hope here, and I'm not even going until August :p I feel sorry for those of you going in May... I'd be going nuts by now
