April "Fool"ing around with the Goofs

Good Morning!

Real quick run by. I'll do a full report later but I PR'd my half Saturday -- 3:11. Eleven minutes slower than I wanted but that's 10 min off last half and 4 min off my full split time. (Not counting Princess half since I stopped all over for pics.)

Will catch up later.

Sorry, I haven't fallen off the face of the Earth Goofs. It's been a tough few weeks health, stress and training-wise.

I've been keeping up with the spreadsheet but just not the posting. Now that our house just emptied out this morning from Easter visits, I can get back to eating and exercise right.

I still have the slight cough and runny nose from my nasty cold but it's not going to slow me down too much. This is Day 1 of my new marathon training program. It's nice that I get to cut back on miles for a while but just add an extra day.

I just did a 5mi "long" run this morning in 0:47. It was extremely hard but it felt really good. It's been way too long since I've been outside for a training run. In fact, aside from races, I can't remember the last time I've been off the treadmill so I'm glad to change that now.

I'll catch up on posts in the next few days but I just wanted to tell everyone what a great job you are doing. Keep up the great work and Happy (belated) Easter!

Ok, posted report in the thread for this past weekend's events.

Cecilia - thx for the input. As another "older" runner/walker I was also a bit concerned about multiple back to back long runs during training. As the weather eventually improves I'll be doing long rides Sat then long run Sun. Works out then as that on weekends, Mon off, Tue-Thu run/ct combo, Fri off. Gets me two rest days a week which my body really seems to prefer. Can do with only one but then need to pull back on either distance or intensity during the week. Also gives me time to test recovery methods between Sat/Sun.

Want to enjoy the experience, as well.

Real quick catch up:
Mike - WTG on the relay; wish we knew you were going to be there. BTW, you doing the duathlon this year?

SAHDad - Congrats!!!

Lisa - hope you feel better.

Big HELLO to everyone!

Hi Liz:

I looked for WISH shirts, but it was pretty crowded...I was they guy in the Illini knit hat and orange top...maybe you saw me? :rotfl:

I am doing the duathlon this year, but as a special training treat, I have to ride down from Downers Grove and do the event.

:scared1:

Glad to hear that your race went well, looking forward to reading the race reports!

Mike

HI fellow goofs!

I am still around and keeping up with my posts on the spreadsheet. Hope that everyone had a grand easter. Not too much candy for me. OUr dinner was a nice porlk roast that DH prepared and roated veggies that we out of this world.

I am planning to get more good miles and minutes in this week.

Have a great week and I really wish the temperature here in Michigan would get above 50. It still seems COLD. :scared1:

I put off going to the pool until the last possible minute, dreading every second of it.

Got in 2400 yards (1.36 miles) in 45 minutes.

Today I have a 90 minute run on tap.

Week 18 of 38...somebody shoot me :faint:

Have a great day Goofs!

mike

Morning all, morning Mikey!!!! :goodvibes

I took a well deserved rest day yesterday (after the talk with Ceclia and the importance thereof for us elderly statesmen :lmao:) and I feel a lot better today. I felt a little guilty and I did do some weights but no cardio at all. Today is a 9 miler and hopefully I have got enough in me to finish in under 1:30 so I have time to swab down and change clothes to pick up kids. My DD14 would shoot me if I showed up all sweaty smelly AND in my running clothes.

Trying to figure out plane/trip snackage so I can pick it all up at the grocery store. Stopped at the NB outlet yesterday and scored some mens tech tees for $10 then found out the whole store was 20% off so, of course, I had to get some for myself too. :rolleyes1 I have started setting clothes out for the trip being that it is still only in the 40s here and will be 70s and 80s while we are in Nashville. Yeah, figured out the hydration schedule for 40 degrees pretty well....80 not so much...:scared: This worries me a bit but I know Patrick won't let me pass out on the side of the road somewhere...

Have a great day everyone!!! :flower3:

Hi all,

Back to work for me today after a 4 day weekend. Guilt for not going to the gym on my days off, but I'll get over it--just consider it a little "rest day shifting"! I did get the spreadsheet updated for me (including some in March that I guess I hadn't done.) Also, did taxes, ordered a part for my oven (I'm doing the repair myself) and found some other needed household repair items online. So not a total waste.

Today I went to the pool--only didn't have my goggles. Fortunately, I had brought other clothes so I did my bike workout instead. 50 minutes inclluding 5 short hill repeats.

Liz Congrats on your half. A PR when you aren't expecting it, or are having difficulties, is sweeter than sweet.

SAHDad WTG on your PR. You and Mike vie for the title of "Machine"!

Lisa Ooh...bargains. I wonder if my local NB store is also having a sale. Although I have decided no new clothes purchases til after next Tuesday (layoff day), just in case.

Have a good day, everybody.

Maura

I'm in week 16 not 18.

Grrrr.

Ran for an hour this morning in the cold, wind and rain (Sounds like a really awful band name).

Just under 6 miles; disappointing cause I thought i was really flying.

Wish I could nap....

Hi All -

Question: CMM is next Saturday. I want one more long run before then and Dh has convinced me to do it Thursday to give me a couple extra days to rest. Do I run 8, 10, or 12 ??? My 12 mile run this weekend got cut to 10 because Dh's knee was acting up but I felt strong enough I could have run 14 or more. I ran 12 the week before so I have the miles banked. I don't know what to do!!!

Lisa - We are driving to CMM and we are staying at the same hotel, so if you need me to bring anything with me, let me know. We are packing a cooler for the finish line because we are planning to wait and see you finish!

Mike - I seriously doubt getting shot will make you feel better. Although, it might force you to get some rest. As for me, I have found that getting to bed 30 minutes earlier every night is making a huge difference. I thought I was getting plenty of rest but evidently I need a little more right now.

Heads up, dear Wish teams, members and fans! We are doing another mixer. This one is dedicated to Vicky, our own little bunnyfoo!

The question is this: What is your favorite vegetable recipe? Double points if it is not just a sidedish or salad! The points can be cashed in duing marathon weekend when you see how your recipe helped us all become lythe and sleek, knowing beyond a doubt that we, all of WISH, are the best team there!!

Can't wait for dinner, now! See ya! Connie, captain of Hakuna Matata!

Hello Goofs, just updated the spread sheet. DD is on Spring break this week so I took a couple of extra days off from work and we've been non stop. Thats a good thing right! Weather was terrible today, woke up to hail hitting my bedroom window. Suppose to be sunny and warm the rest of the week.

I'd probably do the 8 mile and do it Wednesday. For me anyway, a lot of rest for at least three days before a big race always seems to give me a huge boost that day. I may be in a small minority though. Have a great time!

I ended up biking 14.2 miles yesterday in addition to my 5.1 miles run.

Today, I did 30 minutes of yoga and biked another 6.92 miles. I had a scare as I've been unable to find my Garmin for two days now. My wife and I tore the house and both vehicles up looking for that thing (all the while her reminding me how much I spent on it. :sad2:)

Fortunately I just found it. Would you believe it was right where I left it? :rotfl2:

The good news is I found a $250 Home Depot gift card that has been missing since 2006 while searching. Yeah, we're nothing if not organized. Lucky for us it's still good so I see some shopping in our near future.

I'm going out of town for business tomorrow so I want to explore a little and get some miles in and hopefully hang on to my Garmin this time!

i got up my usual 4:20 time.

Got to the Y at 0455.

Walked onto the pool deck at 0501.

AAAAAAND....the deep end of the pool is closed.

I have 3300 yards on tap today.

:headache:

Hoping to find another relatively close Y that I can bike to and swim at.

And, of course, this was the one day I REALLY felt like i could have kept sleeping....I usually don't sleep very well :(

Everybody!

Don't forget the vegetable mixer at Hakuna Matata, today! We really need your ideas!!!

Steve, cool beans on finding the gift card! :woohoo:

Mike, sorry about the pool! :headache:

Just posted some miles onto the spreadsheet. I ran 2 yesterday (10:41 pace) and another 2 this morning (10:56 pace). It went better this morning. Yesterday I felt HORRIBLE at the end and almost felt like I was either gonna get sick and/or faint. I really tried to slow myself down this morning. It seems like it went a little easier last week when I was at the beach. Might just be a mental thing, I don't know! :confused3 Gonna take off tomorrow and try and run 3 miles again on Friday. I hope it gets easier soon cause I'm really debating on signing up for the full...

Good luck to those going to the CMM this coming weekend! I'm so excited for you guys! :cheer2:

Checking in on another cold Wednesday....

Short workout for me today since I had a 7 am meeting. 4.2 miles in 35 miutes doing some 4 x 1000's.

And I just booked a cheap ticket to FL to run RFTT with my BIL and niece. Satying at OKW on their points. Using up old park tickets, so this is pretty budget actually. Sister will be cheering. Suzanne We're headed your way!

Mike I share your pool frustration. Yesterday I got to the gym as the doors opened, ran into the locker room, dumped my stuff, grabbed my goggles--where are my goggles? no goggles! AARGH! Changed my clothes and biked instead.

Steve Glad you found your Garmin and Woohoo on the gift card. I still have a 10 year old certificate for a massage at Nordstrom that I haven't used. Little treasures!
