April "Fool"ing around with the Goofs

Morning from snowy (again) Michigan,

Kim Great paces! You are getting speedy--doesn't it feel good?

Megan Thank you for beating the Yankees. Anyone who does that is good....very good. (Talk about nemesis!)

Mike Only you could "feel sorry for yourself" and still blow the rest of us out of the water! Now tell that other knee to behave.

I did a bike workout today--gym based. A few hill intervals. I remember last year when I tried to do these--it wasn't pretty! Today, I just tried harder not to kill myself with a stupid bike setting and it seemed to work. Was hard, but didn't fall off the bike gasping!

Our work area, a bunch of different work groups located in the same space, are going out for Polish food today...Yum!

hey all, sorry I havent been posting much (but I am getting my miles in)...things have just been crazy lately (DD has softball 6 days a week, my DS is a firefighter and has had a ton of calls lately, both Dsis's are going thru drama and feel the need to drag me into it, my dad is having surgery, still trying to find a job, plus just got done tapping and boiling, which takes forever but is so worth it, the list goes on and on!

Thanks to Maura and Suzanne for the shout-out on the race thread, it feels good to know you have people cheering for you! I need to be better about that, I read them, but dont always have time to post, shame on me!

Suzanne, how was your race, I'm waiting for the pics, you always have great ones!

Mine was ok, I cramped really bad at the start, I think it's 'cause I didn't eat well the night before? My time was 47:36 (5 minutes faster than the last time I ran this one) The week before I had a 5K and that was 49:22 (7 minutes faster than the last time I ran it) so a little improvement, if only I can just keep it up...

Wow Lisa, you really put me to shame with your 14 miles while sick! I thought my DW and DD's colds would pass without me getting it but sure enough, I did.

As opposed to getting out and toughing it out, I laid around and whimpered like a baby. Yeah, no one here felt sorry for me either. :rotfl:

My wife did get me out for another walk last night as it was nearly 80 degrees. That must be some kind of record for here as it rarely gets to 80 in the summer. It was a beautiful walk but I did cough and hack the entire time.

I'm still a bit groggy from a NyQuil hangover. :hippie: I had only about 5 hours of sleep due to my own tossing and turning and DD waking up five times for various reasons.

I'll get in some light exercise the next few nights and then I'll be disappearing for a few days as we have family coming up for Easter.

Good morning Goofs. Short report from my 5K this past Saturday, the Windermere Run Among the Lakes 5K. The course was listed as hard packed sand on the waters edge. I was told by 2 different people who've done this race before that I would hate the course and have shoes full of sand by the finish. Well, it rained on and off most of the week and even at 4am on race morning and it helped to pack it down some more so there were very few spots of loose sand. The course itself was beautiful with amazing scenery. I'm not talented enough to race with a camera in hand so no scenery pictures but next time I am in the area, I will take my camera with me to get some shots. Timing chip was on a velcro band that went on your ankle. Different but forgot about it after a few minutes. Beautiful morning with temps in the mid 70s and very sunny. Offical results says 45:11 but my Garmin says 44:06 with mileage of 3.36 miles! At the mile 1 sign, Garmin said 1.08 miles (I figured this because of weaving) but at mile 2 sign it said 2.26 and then finished at 3.36 :confused3. Not too many pictures, waiting for the official ones. Sorry, I know I said a short report...

Coming around the last curve towards the finish line with my friend Kristen.

Hello Super Goofs!!!! I am still here just really really busy! Luckily, I am on Spring Break from work this week, so I have a little free time! Between training for my half marathon on may 3, playing hockey 2-3 times a week, and planning my wedding..on top of all my other daily responsibilities, my computer time is limited! It looks like everyone has been keeping up with their training...I need to update the spreadsheet for the rest of March and beginning of April, so that will help our numbers!

Suzanne-Great job on your race! You have been doing alot of races lately..good for you! Keep up the good work!

Maura--How is the speed training going? I have been doing a lot of that and my mile times have been pretty good! Any races coming up?

Cecilia--I hear you that it is supposed to be warm on spring break...it has been relatively warm the last few weeks here in NJ...then yesterday on my first day of vacation it was pouring, now today it is cold..we can't win!!!

Megan--Glad you had fun at the ball game..I saw the pics on facebook. One of these years I want to get to an opening day game. We tried to get tickets for opening day at the stadium for the Mets but had no luck! Oh well!.

Lisa--Finishing the CMM in a few weeks will make all the time and training worth it. I said the same thing as you are now before my first disney marathon, and the feeling of crossing that finish line and getting that medal made it all worth! you are going to do great, and I have a feeling you will want to do another!

To anyone I missed...sorry! I will try to check in more often, especially this week while I am off! It is time to get ready to go for a run!

Quick drive by- I think I was able to update the totals okay.

My poor pony has a wound that is requiring a lot of my time today. I planned on a yoga class and a spin class today but I ended up hand walking him around and replacing his dressing several times- the silly thing would not stay put and I have done hundreds of dressings! (on people- never horses!)

Monday I ran for 3 miles in 30 minutes- pain free!! I am so afraid of my knee issue flairing up so I didn't push it. I also met with my personal trainer. I have lost 20 pounds in 6 weeks doing weight watchers. He never said anything so I said "haven't you noticed I've lost so much weight? His answer- your arms do look skinnier!

I guess that is a safe response but skinnier arms was not quite what I was going for!

I also rode a different horse on Monday for one hour- I'll have to update the totals.

Hey Everyone! It's mixer time!!!!!

We are having a mixer! Jack has once again shown up with an idea. Tomorrow we ALL want to know what your very favorite movie is. I don't mean just a movie you like! I mean the ONE movie that you would choose to have on a deserted island. Just you and the movie!!!

And as long as we are talking movies, what goes better with a movie than the perfect snack??? Tell us about your movie snack. Maybe you do something that is just so kewl that the rest of us need to try it too!!!!

So, choose your movies well!! You are stuck with 'em until you are rescued!!!!

spin class.

I have 5 hours of conference calls scheduled, a lunch meeting, DW is working tonight, and I still need to fit in a 45 minute swim :faint:

Joanne Glad your knee is pain-free. You would think a trainer would notice such a significant difference!

Laurie Speed work is still on the list. Since I am trying to train for a tri, I am only running 2x/week, so I am using 2 of the running workouts that I ws doing before. The plan I followed must have worked, cause my March race was really speedy! (for me anyway). No races planned (I don't commit til late) but am seriously thinking of a 10k race at end of May--that would be a good goal to see if I am still maintaining any speed.

Today I did intervals (200,400,600,800,800,600,400,200) in 7:03 to 7:18. It was rough and my "cool-down" was a walk!

Hope everyone is enjoying their day.

Maura

Hey Team!

Got in hour of weight/core work last night including the 2 min cardio bursts. Those get tough toward the end. On way home realized it was voting day, so since I hadn't changed out of my work out gear, went home and jogged to/from polling place. It's only .7 miles rt but jogged there and back. Accomplishment for me so I'll take it!

Have IL inaugural 1/2 marathon Saturday. Hoping to PR as it's a flat course unlike CMM in two weeks. We'll just have to see how it goes.

BTW, I have lost my mind...signed up for Goofy 2010. I blame Kim...still....

Hope everyone is having a great Wednesday!

Liz Congrats on going Goofy! You are a better woman than I (I can't even commit to the marathon yet)

Suzanne Look at all those co-workers. You are a one-person race recruiting team! You are single-handedly going to make WDW a healthier place!

Off to fix dinner....

Maura

Oh good another team mate doing the Goofy!
I'll be at the back of the pack if you want to join me, Liz!

Congrats to everyone signing up for the Goofy!! Thats not a level that I think I will ever achieve, but, I am OK with that!

Maura, yes, I am trying to get more of my coworkers out there running. 2 of the 5 in the picture didn't do the ESPN race so I think we'll probably have a different group at each race but I am excited about that!! I am currently planning my next 5K, I have 4 to choose from in the next month. Decisions, decisions...

Heya Goofs - this is going to be short, since I have been without access for a few days, and haven't caught up yet.

Still running - 3.8 miles or so Mon and Tues (both times faster than planned, Monday was much too fast). A slightly more relaxed 5.something today, and (hopefully) a slow and easy 3.8 tomorrow and Friday, then it's marathon day on Saturday. I'll catch my miles and minutes up when I can use my home machine and get the data for everything off my Garmie.

Just curious...anyone know if Susie is OK, saw her listed as inactive and she was incharge of adding new team members but haven't seen her on that thread in a long time. If its none of my business, just let me know, just worried about her.

Morning morning. New computer. Loss of ergo keyboard. Excuse all typos please!!! :surfweb: I have a new Lenovo and it is very different from the old 2000 year old Gateway. Speed is great, shortcut keys are irritating me a little though. As is this straight keyboard...

Suzanne, I have not heard from Susie. No one has. Debra (deekaypee) is handling the team assignments for now. I have PM'd Susie as have lots of others with no response. This did happen last spring also and I am hoping it is just a passing thing. I am sad to say the least...Susie we miss you!! :guilty:

SAHdad, super best of luck this weekend!! My first marathon is in 2 weeks so I will surely be thinking of you! :cheer2:

Liz and Joanne, well you girls are just Goofy. I looked, and looked, and am still looking....:rolleyes1 It is still under consideration but now there are tryouts for a field hockey team going to Indio, CA for a festival in November. November to CA and February to FL will do us in on vacay funds for the year. :sad1:

Mike,

Joanne, :wizard::love: to Seamus. I hope he is okay.

Laurie, good to hear from you.

Angie, :flower3:

Everyone else I missed,

My day was going really well yesterday. I had missed the 8 miler on Tuesday due to the computer install taking longer than it should have so I decided to run it yesterday. My Garmin magically came back to life (:woohoo:) and off I went. Eight miles at a 9:50 mpm average. Not bad for a short girl.... Then I went to print out my CMM confirmation card and discovered that some brain surgeon took my time from the Applefest half and determined my finish time to be 4:45:00 :scared1:. Yeah, you read that right. Here I was thinking that 5 to 5:30 would make me happy. So what does DH say?? I think you can do it. :scared1::scared1: And you all wonder why I am crazy... :sad2: Still shooting for 5 to 5:30 and being realistic that I can maintain the under 10 mpm pace for a nice flat half but not so much for a rolling hilly full. VAB will be my new half PR. My PR for the full is finish and be able to walk to the Wildhorse for a beer afterward!!!! Right Patrick....popcorn::

Lisa, we switched phone contracts and I lost your cell # please text me with it or pm me.

Phone damaged Panda:)

Good morning goofs!

Today I got in a 4.57 mile run relatively knee pain free...time was way off, took 52 minutes, but I'll take it since I'm trying to just take it easy.

Time for ice.

Have a great day!!!

Mike

Happy "Thursday/Friday" (What we call it when we have a 4 day weekend). Did a Bike/Run workout today--30 minutes cycling with a 10 minute run. Went well.

Really looking forward to the 4 days off and then only 1 week til "Black Tuesday"--they always seem to do these layoffs on Tuesdays. Oh well, que sera, sera.

Maura

Wow! Two pain free knees! Congrats Mike and Joanne! I know that feels good. And congrats on the weight loss too Joanne!! Awesome.

Lisa did you have to say two weeks! I could really use another week to tweak my training. 8 miles at a 9:50 pace is awesome though. The good news about the time estimate is that it will have you starting in an earlier corral which if its hot could be a huge advantage. Don't worry about your time, just run and experience it. Time is for the second marathon.

Liz - Congrats on commiting to the Goofy!! I loved doing the Goofy and you will too. I had two totally different experiences but they were both great so I know you will have a blast!! Start building your base miles now so you can feel extra confident going into the "real" training.

SAHDad - Good Luck this weekend! You sound like you are ready! I can't wait to read all about it.

As for me, I am trying to figure out why I am so tired all the time. I mean more tired than I really should be. I should be doing speed work but I am happy just to get my runs in. Hoping its just the pollen and it will go away soon.

Cecilia
