April "Fool"ing around with the Goofs

Maura - I'm glad you are safe but it's always rough to see people you have worked with over the years go through this. :grouphug:

This was a rest day in my program. I still did 30 minutes of strength training and took a nice 1.6 mile walk at lunchtime. Most of the rest of the state is going through a heat spell. It only got to 65ish here today so it was perfect!

Our running club has a meeting tomorrow night for Relay for Life. In addition to all the fundraising ideas, we are picking our slots for our time on the track. I've done this for a few years through my work but it's my first year on this team. What I didn't realize is that they literally have someone running the track for the entire 24 hours. We are taking turns in two hour time slots. Being the rookie, I'm sure I'm going to get talked in to one of those dreaded windows between midnight and 4am. It's hard enough for me to run that long after a good night's sleep!

Hello everyone! I'm still getting out there and exercising and getting miles in. I completed C25K week 4 last night! My computer is all messed up though. Apparently my hard drive works, but it doesn't work in my laptop. I'm not sure exactly what's going on, but I'm dreading having to set up iTunes. AGAIN! I don't know if DBF has reinstalled Windows or what is going on, but I can only get online at work or using his laptop. I could probably use my old desktop and I may resort to that this weekend, but it is driving me crazy.

I do have Firefox on the desktop though and that is where the spreadsheet is bookmarked, so I will update as soon as I get on to a computer that works.

W5D1 starts either Thursday or Friday!

Thanks to all for the kind thoughts. It was tougher than I thought it would be yesterday, and a good friend of mine--and DVC owner--lost her job along with many others (about 15% or our organization).

Today I had early meetings (6 am) on top of late last night meetings, so I left work ealry and went for a swim. 1200 yds--never do manage to keep track of time. And given my swimming, that's probably good!

Kim You might want to check out a site i have frequented for strengthening/stretching. I know they have things to consider for IT band. Me, I work on hip strengthening (abductors) and stretching.

Megan Great progress on your C25K program. Hope your computer issues are resolved soon.

Steve Wow-two hour time slots? That is a long time. Can't imagine doing it at midnight, either. Hope you get a sane slot.

Hope everyone else is well. Time to go fix dinner.

Maura

Thanks for the link, Maura. I will definitely check it out.

Steve, good luck with Relay for Life. Any chance you can talk them into doing two 1-hour time slots instead? Somehow that sounds much more doable, even in the wee hours of the morning.

I went for a walk around the lake at my office just now. 1.06 mile in 18 minutes, which means I'm going to have to work on my walking speed if I want to keep under Disney sweep pace.

13.8 miles, 50 minutes on teh bike.

Couldn't get myself into the pool this AM, and TP was NO help...he wanted breakfast too!

tomorrow I will be as disciplined as i expect myself to be, and get in both workouts...60 minute run, 45 minute swim.

Mike

Hello all,

Long walk of 7.13 miles yesterday and it felt good! About to get on the bike now. Planning on a 5K for next Saturday to benefit Habitat for Humanity. Lots of family drama is wearing me down this week so I'm trying to stay motivated. I can do it, I can do it.

Got back from our Relay meeting. There was a lot of demand for two 1-hour slots, mainly because of the heat last year. I guess it was really hard on the afternoon runners. I didn't even think about that.

My first hour will be at 7pm. They are going to ask us for second hours after they see how many volunteers they can get to run one hour first. It will be nice getting to go back and do a second hour after a good night's rest.

I got back too late to do my run tonight. I did 30 minutes of bike this morning and had another lunchtime walk.

Tomorrow is speed drills. I hope the weather holds up and I can go to the local high school track. Otherwise it's out to the old garage and on the treadmill.

Happy almost-Friday everyone!

Monrning, all,

Did my 1600-1200-800-400 intervals today. 4.3 miles/36 minutes.

Suzanne You can do it--you have done it! Hang in there and take care of yourself. Hope the drama resolves itself soon.

Back to work now.

Maura

Suzanne: You can do it!

Maura: Glad you survived the purge...hope things ease up soon.

Everyone Else: Good luck, have fun, its a beautiful day in the neighborhood!

My place:

Today so far: 23 emails sent 68 received.

Got in 6 reasonably pain free miles in 61 minutes...would have gotten a 10 mpm pace for all of them, but the first one was really slow and cold.

back to work...still have to figure out when to get in a swim today!

Mike

Morning Goofs.

Still sick, still running up those stupid mountains. 8.5% hurts when you try to run it. Bleh. Hopefully, I can sleep in on Saturday - I oughtn't, since this is the first week of the YMCA run camp, but, if the new group is anything like the previous ones, I'm already at the faster and high-mileage end of the group.

Mike - Good job getting the miles in. Hope you manage to squeeze in a swim as well.

Maura - Sounds like a tough interval series. Well done!

steve - 7pm is a lot better than the 2-4 time slot. Hope the weather holds for your speedwork.

Suzanne - you can do it! And it's for a good cause, right?

Good luck to all the CMM runners this weekend.....I am supposed to be there, but I had to work on Friday and we had to skip it! I miss you all!

Good job Goofs on the workouts! Don't worry Suzanne, you can do it! :cool1:

Beth

Good Morning Team!

Suzanne - You can do it !!

WTG to everyone for getting in work outs no matter what they are!

I got in quick 2 miles last night. Have CMM Saturday so don't want to push it last few days. Also need to finish packing tonight since we leave at 4am tomorrow.

Have a great day and a great weekend!

Just back from a 2 miler.

SAHDad, hope you feel better soon!

Again, good luck to everyone running the CMM! Have fun! :cheer2:

I just wanted to wish everyone doing the CMM the best of luck too. You are all awesome!

Hang in there Suzanne, you'll do a great job. Have fun!

-steve

Checking in from my new phone. Wondering if this will work! I feel so Star Trek! LOL

Yesterday was a rest day, and oh boy did I rest! I hired out having the mulch done (15 yards), having the mulch beds recut, and having catch basins and drain tile put in for the gutters to address a water problem. Glad I did, since it took 5 guys all day to do it, and I was thinking I could do it in a weekend; dodged a bullet there.

I've got 2:20 on tap on the bike, with a 40 minute brick, so its an 0700 start for me.

Morning all! Just back from my first outdoor ride this year--23 miles with some hills in there--I guess they do have hills in SE lower Michigan! 1:50, which isn't too bad. Went with my DH (finally, something that a 5'3" female and 6"3" male can do together (of the exercise variety!)), and some friends.

Now I need to walk the dog, go to Costco and find a $@&^#%&^ swimsuit!
