April and Jeffery's Wishes Wedding May 14, 2011 - WP/LS - I'm Married!!!

Your newsletter is fantastic with lots of great information for your guest - hey your wording would make me want to come to your wedding.

As for the shoes - I agree shop around. But if you are more comfortable in flats then just go with the flats all day. There are so many brides who do this and have great pictures of them. Is there a big height difference between you and hubby?

Yeah, he is 6 foot and I am 5'3". We don't mind the height, but do you think my dress will swallow me up if I don't have some extra height?

Just made my appointment for my hair and makeup with Ana from Beaute Speciale. I heard about her from the discussion board so I hope I like her. I can't really tell who I would like just from looking at pictures.

So far our planning session and menu tasting is booked for December 14th. My hair and makeup trial is at 6:45 in the morning on December 14th and then at 10:30 we have our engagement pictures with Randy. I am very excited.

I sent an email to my DF's best man. My DF is not much for the bachelor party, but I think it would be a great idea if he and his groomsmen and the dad did something together. I suggested surfing lessons at Typhoon Lagoon or maybe the Richard Petty Driving Experience. I was thinking they could do it the morning before our rehearsal. Maybe then my bridesmaids, the flower girls and the moms can do a luncheon at Cinderella's castle. Is it possible to do a luncheon there and be escorted into the park so no one has to use their tickets? I don't really want anyone wasting their tickets that day since they won't have time to enjoy the park.

So, after a lot of research and deliberation, I have decided that the green shoes I posted earlier are not really our color. We are doing a more teal color. So, one day I was doing some research and I found this:
Picture143.png

I really liked them and they are exactly what I was looking for, but of course the wrong color. Then I noticed that I was reading a blog where someone posted how they crystalized a shoe and this is how it turned out. So, after talking to my DF, I decided to get some shoes and try this myself for my wedding shoes. It was hard finding the right shoes since I thought that the base color should be close to our color and its just really hard for me to find heals. I need a thick heel, that is not too high. I finally found some at Nordstroms and here are the crystals that I ordered.

Wish me luck!! I'll post when I am done and let you know how they turned out.

OOOHHH I LOVE THIS!!!! Do you mind sharing the blog that you got the directions from?? My colors are brown and mermaid and I've been trying to figure out what I want to do for my shoe! I know I want it the mermaid/teal color but this I LOVE :love:. Please tell me how!! :goodvibes I have the hotfix crystal machine already as I've done many project with it. I was thinking of def. doing my heal with them, but the whole shoe!!!! I LOVE!!

What color crystal did you get is that blue zircon? That's my color crystal I would need also, where did you buy your crystals from? I'm trying to find a good place to get mine cause I'm also doing my cake topper and I need a lot of them!! THANKS!!!

Just have to say...you did an amazing job on the information packets!!!

My only tip on shoes is...your feet will hurt if you wear heels and you aren't used to them. The problem with wearing heals and flats is your hem length will fit one and will either be to high for the other or will drag the floor. Just a thought for switching out shoes. Although my vote is for the heels!

Hi! I just read through your planning journal. Your newsletters are great! :) Good luck on the shoes, I'm looking forward to reading more!

Thank you so much. I agee with you about the heels. I was orginally thinking about getting flats also since my reception is inside and I don't have to worry about my hem dragging on the ground. I just haven't found a pair of flats that I like yet. Still looking.

Yeah I understand I've been having a great deal of trouble trying to match my teal color which is the Mermaid color from davids bridal with anything else I try to buy. But the blue zircon is close enough!! I've decided not to worry about matching it perfectly because it's not going to happen anyways so why try:laughing:

I am def. doing this to my shoe!! I will post them when I'm finished! And hope you do the same:worship:

You ahead of me though I haven't found my shoe or bought the crystals yet:lmao:

We were originally going to go with the "mermaid" color at David's Bridal also, but it really wasn't what we had in mind. Luckily, DB just came out with a new color that matches our color perfectly. Its called "jade" and even though it sounds a little green, it looks like teal to us. Here is the swatch that Disney sent us because I was very concerned about being able to match all our colors. There are so many varieties to teal that unfortunately you can't just say teal and get one color. Our floral planner, Elizabeth, sent me the colors via email and we told her which one looked like it matched what we were looking for the best and she sent us a real sample of it. It was perfect.

We are going through Disney for our linens since we are having our reception in Living Seas. For the floor length teal satin that we are going with, its $34.00 per table. We thought about doing a "pixie dust" overlay to give it a little sparkle, that was $37.50 for 90x90, but we decided we just liked the satin by itself. I am not sure how much napkins are yet, but when I get that info I will let you know.

Do you have any idea what you guys are going to do for favors? We might be going through Disney on that also, depends on what they have and the price. It's difficult since we are in Washington and we have to ship everything to Florida.

If you wanted to save money on favors. Give something that you can pre-make a wrapper for, then buy the item when you get to Orlando, get family and bridesmaids together and assemble them. Some ideas would be you or your DF's favorite type of candy, then make a personalized candy tent for it. You can print, cut and use a bone folder to get a good edge. Then take the candy tents with you, or mail them in advance. They wouldn't cost much to make and/or wouldn't take up much space in your luggage. I know this isn't a wedding example, but it might give you an idea of what one looks like. They are super cute on the table and you can even use them as a place card by putting a name on one side and your monogram/logo on the other. These are good for the "fun size" candy like you give at Halloween.

You could also do a hershey candy bar wrapper, or you could do cello bags with a bag topper or ribbon and gift tag and chocolate covered pretzels inside with a "thanks for helping us tie the knot!" saying. You could bring the candy bar wrapper or bags and toppers...then buy the candy bar or pretzels when you get to Orlando.

One other idea...one DB on the Boards had a little extra money that had to be spent for her wedding price, so she had Disney make chocolate chip cookies, sugar cookies, etc. for a "cookie bar". Then she had cello bags with a round sticker and ribbon and a sign with a cute saying something about about "...a late night snack for after the wedding".

Hope that helps!

I have spent the last couple of months looking through as many pictures, magazines, blogs, the knot, anything, trying to find flowers that I like and I have not fallen in love with anything. All I knew was that I didn't want white flowers. I originally thought that I wanted dark pink roses, but it didn't really fit our mermaid theme or our reception area. I was about to give up and just wait until we had our planning session at Disney, when I saw this wedding spotlight on Carly's Disney Wedding Blog. I absolutely love these flowers, even though they are white.

Do you think they will go with our teal color?

That's not too bad, Since your in Living sea's you can't rent from another vendor?? I'm not sure what my policies are though I'm hoping to be in grand ballroom #??

We have discused a few favor ideas like the mickey ear hats, ornaments, and I just saw on another thread cute mickey picture frames. But I'm rethinking the pricing of everything and adding favors is a lot... I'm thinking I might keep the candy buffet and favors in one cause I know the candy table will be a pretty penny so getting DF to agree to the favors on top of that might be hard:laughing:

Love your plans can't wait until you post more updates!!!:woohoo:

I finally finished one shoe and the other is half way done. I used mostly size 12ss crystals. I used about 3500 crystals on one shoe and I am waiting for more to finish the other shoe. This takes a while, but I absolutely love my shoes. I think they are wonderful and I am not telling anyone about them. They will be a surprise. I love them.
