They are Holy High!! I am still waiting for Southwest to be posted- but Jetblue is $300 each way, WE are traveling the 18-25th- not during Easter or most spring breaks... what gives?! Any tips?

Where are you flying from? We live near Boston, and the air for that time is outrageous. We need air for April 18-26. We have no flexibility as we are going on a cruise. It is our April vacation here in Massachusetts. We fly to Florida each April, and I've never seen fares so high. Last year we flew nonstop from Manchester, NH to MCO for $145.00 pp/rt. I've been watching the fares since they started showing up in the spring. If I booked now, I would pay around $584.00 for AA out of Boston, not even non-stop. Some of the flights have some strange layovers, too. Fly from Boston to Chicago arriving at 11:35 pm, leave Chicago for Miami at 6:45 am! I'm watching fares from Boston to Miami, Boston to FLL, Manchester to FLL, etc. Good luck with your search. It would cost less for me to fly to Dublin or London! (of course I wouldn't be able to afford a hotel room or food or bevarge due to exchange rates) I think that it is Passover, too at this time. Would that affect fares in any way? I'm also waiting on SW.

Here in Southern NH, our spring vacation break is the same as yours. It maybe that more districts are coordinating breaks this year. It would have been nice those years when I wanted to get my two together with their cousins who live in MA but this year I thought we might want to get away from it all.

You could also check PBI. (I think that's Palm Beach.) Oh, and there's that new airline that flies out of Pease (seacoast NH) that has very limited flights. I think by April that they'll be flying to somewhere south of Jacksonville.

But yes, it is ridiculously priced. All that it really means is that I'll wait until summer - 4th of July - and drive.

does anyone know when Southwest typically releases the schedule for April?

Fares and Flight times are absurd, We were planning to drive down to WDW during April school vacation April 19-26th. :surfweb:
I watched the fares and flight times since May and lucked out a couple of weeks ago when Airtran Scheduled a Saturday to Saturday, Non-stop from Boston to Tampa for $758 total for the 3 of us. :laundy:
Skybus flys out of Pease and has flights up through the 1st week of March.

Good Luck all,

Yes, crazy high. I bought my Chicago-Orlando (Apr 26-May3) tickets mid June for $205 pp. That same flight right now is $550 --with the cheapest non stop being around $300. Glad I booked when I did -- but I just can't figure out why they are staying so high....

Good luck finding a good/inexpensive flight!

we are driving down unless I can catch a great deal..I'd have no problem flying on skybus at all, we are actually staying closer to Daytona (going on a cruise as well) and probably won't venture into Orlando.

Ugh! I waited too long to book ours. I think Airtran never gave out reduced fares on the NS flights near our spring break. Meanwhile the other low cost seats are dissappearing, while I just sat a watched them go hoping for something better. :scared:

LAX-MCO is insane too! We are going April 26 - May 3, and I have been holding out, but I think I'll just bite the bullet. It started at $409, roundtrip, and I thought for sure it would go down, now the cheapest is $469, and goes up to $600! Yikes! :scared1:

Does anyone care to gusss what the opening fares will be from SW when the open their new dates? CROWBAR time....Is it possible that they will have internet fares available initially? Probably not?

As I said above, Nov 8th. If you go to SW website and click on Travel Tools, they state Nov 8 th fares will open. Whether they will be offering Internet fares is a guess for all of us. The last round, I waited by the computer all day, all so I could pay a small fortune at $165 each way. Yes, that was SW and that was the cheapest possible too. I booked hoping for a price drop. Well, it went up to $170, and down to $149 (I got the $16 credit), and back up to $170. I still think that is way too high. I hope April is lower. I also hope my Feb trip drops sometime before Nov 8th so I can apply that credit to my April trip. Good Luck.

Who wants to bet that when SW comes out with their April (school break) fares from PVD that all of the non stop and reasonable fares will say "unavailable" at the very second that they are released. It is inevitable.
