......and then there's the whole jumper/sweater, sidewalk/path, pants/trousers......etcetc......and as for knickers...
.
You are all giving me a good chuckle here this morning! The conversation brings to mind one that my mother had with my DD's when they were young teens.
My mother still has 1960's terminology that she uses at times.. This time it was using the word "thongs" in place of "flip flops". Back then that is what thongs were, flip flops! So, this one day my mother was telling my girls that she had just returned from vacation and she had forgotten to bring her "thongs". Well the girls were rolling on the floor laughing hysterically as they were picturing their grandmother packing thongs (abbreviated panties) for her vacation! and even worse...wearing them! One of the funnier conversations I ever heard them having, lolol.
I love the first time I heard someone from the UK say "What's for pudding?"
I thought the obvious answer would be.....pudding.When the response was "Apple pie" I was VERY confused.
Growing up the the Beatles generation, I was (and am) a devout Anglophile, but I had never run acrosss that one till later in life.

Apart from our very first cruise, the other 5 had been on the Magic, 50 nights in total. Going on the TA last January on the Wonder was terrible as we knew not one of the CM's. We know quite a few now on the Magic. It really made a big difference. I guess it won't be much different on this cruise as we didn't get to know any at all apart from our server.
We like the difference in 'pavement'. We say to our children 'walk on the pavement', but you Americans would no way say that!!!!![]()
Hope everyone that celebrates Easter has a joyful day.
We are heading for DW today to pick up some last minute gifts. We hope to see the shuttle on the 29th and the next day begin our drive back to CT. We will miss our Disney freinds here in FL.

I would love to get her started!.. I find this kind of stuff facinating... Mostly because it's not really having to try to learn a new language, but learning how others use our current language, we all understand what each other is saying, but, just don't get some of the words!.. Now I would be interested to know what you call a thong....I personally call it an uncomfortable waste of good material!![]()
I didn't quite quote the last message like I thought it was going to..I am new to this whole board thing.. I think I would have a harder time deciphering Aussie, that I do English..lol.. Because, I would probably NEVER get that a nappy is a diaper, here a nappy is a kiddie version of saying NAP, as in taking a sleepy nap.. And as for lollies, that to me would be a plural form of a shortened form of lolly pop, which is candy on a stick.![]()

I know the staff are moving around quite a bit between the ships right now with the Dream and soon the Fantasy. Will somebody know who we might have ahead of time, or will it be wait and see?
I adored the CD Brent (he's an Aussie), I heard he's on paternity leave at the moment? We also hit it off with Dave, another Aussie, Entertainment Director. Our servers were gorgeous also, Depesh and Hector.![]()
Thanks, I'll check it out
I agree the umbrella type strollers are so much easier to travel with, I'd just like to bring my big one for day sleeps and stuff, ie: if baby is having a sleep we can eat lunch in peace or something? Those smaller ones aren't comfy enough for sleeping in. What do you think?![]()

Wow, I hope so, such a great guy, last I saw of him he was home on holidays in Oz and we saw him on the news helping in the massive clean up after the floods in Brisbane. Great guy!
We have a McClaren Triumph? That sucker has traveled around the world. It is a little larger than a typical umbrella, but it reclines and has a bit more room. I can't recommend it enough. Even though DS is 4 it still comes to WDW with us,
Yeah i know thats the only thing i dont like about the new ships coming out Although when i was on the dream the 2nd sailing im glad i got to see my peeps just now need them to be on here.since by then the dream is old and the fantasy will be a month old already.... Brent is preggers? hmmm i bet him and his wife will be very rich haha. a guy getting pregnant thats the 1st. I love brent he's awesome known him for several years already and darren, Clayton aka hollywood, Rachel i know is the CD for the dream. I dont think the crew know this far in advanced where they will be by then. As far as Aussie Dave he's leaving the cruise life if he didnt leave it already. But that dave wasnt the entertainment director. Pub Host for the adults area That was the canadian dave.
I was a child of the late 60's and remember calling flip flops thongs! Now I live in Florida and only time I wear shoes is when I work. All the other time it is flip flops. My favorites come from LL Bean.
My favorites are Havianas, I think every Aussie has a few pairs. Haven't tried the LL Bean ones, we don't have that brand here.
