April 29, 2012 ~ Aloha! ~ Wonder to Hawaii- who is with me?

It's the little things people. I listened to both of my "Lilo and Stitch" soundtracks while driving to get groceries today. It's still over a year away, but I can't help it! (sigh)

I'm sure I will start to pull towards wearing colorful Hawaiian shirts and Muumuu's by the end of summer. Surely I'll need to try on several grass skirts and try out my Hula skills. Then I'll find myself trying to dig a hole in my backyard to roast something meaty, by the end of fall. As winter sets in, it will be lots of time staring at my tropical Xmas tree. Followed by the sculpting of several volcanoes and palm trees in the snow.

I'm sure by next spring, I will have full-blown DCL cruise fever, causing me to start piling suitcase items randomly around the house, use phrases like "it's on 2nd deck," when I'm referring to the location of a store in a 2-story mall, and then the cruise dreams will take over my sleep! Dreams that I always have where I can't find my stateroom, or I'm frustrated because I haven't done it all and I have to get off the ship before I've even had time to sit on 4th deck!!!!

Yes. Another cruise countdown has begun. And I love it!

At least everyone here understands. As, my extended family has just given up on asking "why another DISney cruise?" (don't forget the noses in the air)

And as far as weight gain goes, you can count me in! I will be walking 4th deck to work off a small percentage of the calories that I consume. How many calories are in a tiny chocolate volcano? (lava cake) Hhhhhmmmm, must research this. I might have to be a blue-chair lap-counter on some occasions though, only to help others out of course. :)

Better get ready for another round of parenting. My boys are waking up from nap. Happy Hawaii dreaming everyone!

Erica

Couldn't have said it any better ! Just how I feel.:goodvibes

Scrapbooking exchange - If someone can figure out how to do a digital one and wants to run it, they are welcome! As for the one I volunteered to organize, it will be traditional paper.

Because people scrap in different sizes and it's a pain to try and carry 12 x 12 paper without damage, Here's the deal: Everyone who signs up picks a topic around which everyone participating is sure to want to make page(s) - in the past, i've seen fish extenders, pirates, sail away, food, palo, beach, characters, a port, etc.

Say we get 12 participants - each one makes (or buys) 12 sets of items to embellish her choice of page topic - the items could be title, die cut shapes, something stamped, any kind of embellishments. Then, she uses one set to make a sample page which she keeps for her own album but uses to show the rest of us, either the actual page, a photo of it, or sketch of her idea . I have some examples to post - when I find them:laughing:

On a sea day, we will all bring our 11 packets and 1 sample (or sketch or photo) maybe to the Cove Cafe, "show & tell" our sample, & swap packets - each one goes home with 12 DIFFERENT packets and a head start on 12 pages for her cruise album.

OH TimTAMS! That diabolical invention of torment to a diabetic! You'd be proud of how strong I was on the PC. I received two lovely packets of them - and gave them away unopened to my "Mexican grandkids" in PV!

Thanks for explaining Linda. My DH bought me a circut 3 years ago because I wanted one..........haven't even taken it out of the box.:sad2: My goal by cruise time is to learn how to use it and actually use it. I know I am missing out on some great stuff not using it but feel overwelmed with it.

I am PROUD of you for not eating the Tim Tams !!! I don't think I would have had the will power.:rolleyes1 I am working really hard to get mine under control.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone :)

Good Friday here, and as LittleDisneyLovers mentioned - a 5 day long weekend - doesn't get better than that. We were supposed to go to the ILs 3 hours away, but they are quite sick, so we're staying home, which suits me, as I have a mountain of ironing from our trip, and also a heap of other things I never seem to have the time to do. We plan on doing a couple of full day outings and a couple of movies too. What bliss ! :cloud9:

It was DH's and my 19th wedding anniversary last night - so we got to spend dinner planning all our proposed future Disney trips. I told him he needs to "keep me in Disney" once every two years, and I'll be a happy wife (he muttered something about the upcoming trip being every year  )

Onto replies...
Tina - there are now many variations on the original Tim Tam. There's the double coated Tim Tam, and the white chocolate Time Tam, and about 15 others to boot. Very dangerous when they're on sale ! ;)
Oh ! Forgot to ask ! Are most of you just doing the cruise, or are you adding on days at DL / somewhere else ? We will be doing a stop-over in Hawaii on the way over (we bought DVC on the last trip), and we also want to spend time at DL. My only concern is that we want to do it pre-cruise - will the place be inundated with "Spring-breakers", or will it be over by this time next year ?

Have a great Easter.

Cheers,
Sally :)

Happy belated Anniversary !! Are there any Tim Tams that come in sugar free ?

I think spring break will be earlier next year...spring break will be in march or center around easter, which is april 8th next year...should be good by end of april...i will be subscribing to touring plans for disneyland and will let you know the crowd level when it comes out...welcome :)

Thanks !

OK....our flight leaves Rochester in just 9.5 hours for our trip to DisneyLand and then our cruise from LA up to Vancouver then the first Alaskan...and we just finished packing...finally!! Now it's time to get to bed so we can rest up for the trip...

....but before I head to bed wanted to post and let everyone know that we're going to be trying to blog this trip like we did our last...anyone who wants to follow along can do it at:

hi everyone!
I'm so sorry I haven't been around- and have maybe got a bit behind on the original post. I've been scrambling to get everything ready to leave tomorrow for our DL/cruises coming up soon! We leave tomorrow and then cruise Wed!

But I will do my best to catch up and update the OP tomorrow night- once we're there and settled at the hotel. Promise to do my best on that. :goodvibes

And then try to keep up when I can while on the cruise- depends on how well I can get online while on the ship though. haha We'll be cruising 4/27 thru 5/10..... Alaska here we come! :)

Hope all is well with everyone!

Late in wishing you a GREAT cruise ! Looking forward to seeing all your wonderful pictures. :goodvibes

My GTY room has now changed to room number 8076, I want the good, the bad and the ugly? This is only my second cruise so room location is something I have no idea about? Is it ok? TIA :flower3:

Hahaha, paternal leave can be taken by both parents, maternity leave is just by the mother. I would like to see that though, Brent pregnant, I think he could pull it off.
I'm confused, which Dave is leaving? Aussie Dave or Canadian Dave?.

I know that i was being funny hahahah. but yeah i think Brent could pull off being pregnant. he can pull off anything a chicken man suit, a tutu and tights.

Aussie Dave is leaving. :sad2:

Happy Easter Everyone !

Oh sorry, I thought it may have been a joke, or maybe a language thing. :flower3:
We missed the crew talent show with Brent in his tutu, I was so upset, but after 2 weeks on tha transatlantic and the time changes every few night I just couldn't stay awake, big bummer!!! :sad2: Next time.........

Oh no, not Aussie Dave, he was so much fun, another big bummer! :sad1:

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone :)

My son is stationed at Twentynine Palms, CA and is currently deployed. He will be back in mid-November. Although I'm sure I'll see him around the holidays if not before, I envision spending a few days with him either before or after the cruise. It would be nice if he could take leave and we could spend it somewhere other than the desert. For now, it is just dreams.

Wow, GTYs already assigned when we still have a year to sail! It took forever to get our room assignment on the PC!

Congrats and Happy Easter everyone!

Gosh! I wish we lived nearer to you - i'd love to show you how to play with it. It's dead easy! Trust me on this one. Google "How to use cricut" and you end up with a ton of links including this basic video.

Just get yourself some cheap paper or cardstock and try it.

my gty was assigned within one week in my 11b....i love my stateroom assignment too!

Hi, No we haven't paid it off in full yet, but we have paid a fair chunk, over a third of it. Maybe that's why?
I did go into my booking to see if I could "change stateroom". I was considering changing to a category 3, but all that was available was a T cat (did I get that right, T?) and it was an extra $7000ish from memory.
Next time I checked what was available a few days later, and I had a room assignment?
Maybe have a play with your ressie and see what happens??? :goodvibes

My favorite Australian candy is Violet Crumble. Just saying....:rolleyes1

I sent you a message on FB - have you tried a Crunchie bar? I can bring some on the ABD trip if you want ;)

Welcome home! We love DVC!

Is the scared face because you are doing a 'Hoarders" style clean-up or just a general declutter? Good idea to declutter, I suppose it's just less stuff to clean up again after the next earthquake. :confused3:sad2::upsidedow

Well all I can say is thank goodness for earthquakes! Between all the beautiful stuff that got destroyed in September and February (beautiful and unique pottery and china) and our tidy up (I have a ruthless streak), she can actually now see some of the gorgeous items she has in her living room. Still to tackle the books and linen :scared1:

She went from a large 4 bedroom home that was crammed with lovely things into a tiny two bedroom unit - the stuff simply doesn't fit.

And a "garden" to us is somewhere we plant our flowers or veggies. So, if you sit in your "garden" where do you grow your veggies?

We plant them in the vege garden. :)

As for differences in language, we came across this many times when we were chatting on the 2010 WBTA thread. Here is Australia we take the 'english' and the 'american' and mix it up and then add a little 'occa' to it. Please fell free to ask me if I ever say anything weird! ;)

Those conversations were so funny! Throw in a little Kiwi english too for good measure.

and a diaper is a nappy, and candy is lollies and don't even get me started on thongs, undies, flip flops, jandals, bums and fanny packs!!!! :lmao:

LOL at fanny packs... and I officially represent the "jandals" (though I actually call them "flip flops" as my Mum is English - just to add to the confusion)

I didn't quite quote the last message like I thought it was going to..I am new to this whole board thing.. I think I would have a harder time deciphering Aussie, that I do English..lol.. Because, I would probably NEVER get that a nappy is a diaper, here a nappy is a kiddie version of saying NAP, as in taking a sleepy nap.. And as for lollies, that to me would be a plural form of a shortened form of lolly pop, which is candy on a stick.:rolleyes1

We'll explain it all to you in a fortnight. ;)

......and then there's the whole jumper/sweater, sidewalk/path, pants/trousers......etcetc......:rotfl: and as for knickers...:rotfl2:
.

Jumper/Sweater = Jersey...
;)

Wow, GTYs already assigned when we still have a year to sail! It took forever to get our room assignment on the PC!

It seems like there are always odd GTY rooms that get assigned, but never the 5's(6's in the old life) They seem to be done around the 3 - 6 weeks before the cruise when they sort everyone out. Doesn't stop me looking regularly though!!!:lmao:

On our first PC cruise there were so many of us in GTY rooms we had a mini group called the Lifeboat crew(or gang, can't quite remember)! We had a lot of fun over the months, and chose which lifeboats we wanted, and someone even made a few t shirts with a special logo. All helps the waiting!

Linda- I always looked forward to your Good Morning on the PC thread. Hope you keep it up on this thread. When I see it I know that is where I left off reading the night before .Hope you had a nice Easter. We will leave for CT probably on Sunday- hope the shuttle goes off on schedule- we delayed our return to watch it go off- us and 3 million other people.

The Wonder is repositioning this week so thinking of going up to see her in San Francisco this week. It's an hour drive for us. Anybody else :confused3
