We can stand outside "our" door & toast to it?
.....
I feel like I was struck with a little bit of Hawaiian magic last night. My mom and dad (both passed now, sadly) went to Hawaii 38 years ago. My mom brought back a full-length Hawaiian dress (which was actually made there). I never saw her wear it, but when she passed I felt like I needed to keep it. Well, I found it in the back of my closet yesterday and tried it on. Amazingly, it fit me (and it looks like new even after so long)! So now I need to decide when to wear it...luau, dinner, Palo? Thanks, Mom

.
Oh, what a sweet story....bittersweet is maybe more accurate, but it sounds wonderful to wear that.

I love the fact that it has so much meaning for you and also I love the vintage Hawaiian clothing. I have been doing a bit of cruise shopping that's probably different from most people....vintage Hawaiian on ebay! Looking forward to wearing my "new" finds even though I know nothing of their history, and really looking forward to seeing you in your special dress.
Candy good for sea sickness?
Haha yes, it is ginger candy....vegan, even....!! But I'm also bringing some "chews" that my old home town was known for...a local company that has sort of made it big. I think it helped that Disney started carrying them at DCA a while back, as representing a part of CA history.
Years ago my mom and I did a roller coaster tour of the US - we did some 100 coasters in 2 weeks. By the end I was feeling the issue in my ears and tried a scopolomine patch (that little round one)...nasty side effect - in 2 days I was blind. Literally. I couldn't see my hand in front of my face. I panicked just a tad. I called a pharmacy (we were in Texas at that point) and asked about it - seems like 1 in 10,000 have that little effect. It took 4 days for my vision to return once I removed the patch.
My suggestion is that if someone is going to try that patch, get a sample from somewhere and TRY IT AT HOME FIRST. One doesn't want to go blind (even temporarily) while on vacation...
Oh my - how terrifying for you!! I know a lot of people have great success with the patches, but I have heard that if someone touches their eyes with the chemical on them, it causes blurry visions & headaches, but wow - the blindness must have been so scary.
But also gotta say.....a roller coaster tour? Awesome!!!
I have questions regarding tips for excursions. Does everyone tip for their excursion? If so, how much? My excursions will all be through
DCL so they will be charged to my KTTW card. I hadn't planed on bringing cash with me on the excursions, just my cc. Now I think I need to rethink that!..........
We usually give the driver a couple bucks and then a bit more to the guide, depending on the length of the excursion (& how much we like them!)...sometimes just $5 for the 2 of us, and maybe a couple more when we have DS with us. The most we ever tipped was $10 and that was for an all-day trip with a guide who went above & beyond. But yes, they do appreciate tips & we like to go prepared with at least a few bucks...nothing too extravagant.
ETA....this is for DCL excursions. For private ones the tips are higher usually, but for these prepaid ones, we don't give a tip that's a percentage of the trip or anything - just a thank you token I guess....
