The shirts are here!!!:woohoo:

They are so cool!

Thank you Val

Ours will be here tomorrow...can't wait. They are in KC today. Since they are closing USPS sorting facility near us, all the mail is going through KC and it takes 2-3 longer then before.

I just checked my tracking number and my shirt and my Champagne Girl earrings are out for delivery today! I am so excited!!!

Yours probably traveled with mine!... I am in the KC area!

Mail is traveling funny this days. I was waiting for something last week from FL. I checked tracking and my item was in CA...from FL to CA and i'm in the middle of the country :):):):)

Love the shirts!!! Better than the pics!

Just got some pixie dust - I ordered something from the Disney Store and received the wrong items. Called them to tell them and they said to just keep these items and they would send out the correct ones!

Very odd that it would go Florida past Misery and on to CA and then back to Misery... and they wonder why the USPS is in trouble...

If you're going to the Old Lahaina Luau with Disney, that show has two seating options - "traditional" seating on the ground (on a mat), and seating at conventional tables and chairs.

If Disney did book the whole luau, I'd imagine you would have the choice of where to sit. If they didn't, I don't know how to ensure you get a table and chair, although I'd imagine anyone who actually requires a chair will get one.
Although we did not go to the Old Lahaina Luau last week, we went when we were on Maui in 2010 and it was excellent.

The Old Lahaina Luau seats many hundreds of guests, and I would be very surprised if Disney booked the whole luau.

When we went, upon checking in, we were assigned to a specific table. If you have a group and want to sit together, I suggest checking in as a group.

YMMV

Vacations to go just sent out their weekly newsletter and are offering cabins for sale on our cruise...... we must have some still empty it looks like...
Cheapest Inside $2,265
Cheapest Oceanview $2,550
Cheapest Balcony $3,975
Are those prices per person? Everything I see is almost double the prices you have posted.

. . . So after Woodys' report of rough waters on his recent trip to Hawaii, I'll be sending DH to the doctor for a scopolamine prescription.
For those of you who don't mind my positing on your Cruise Meet Thread, I'll continue sharing some occasional random thoughts about Hawaii.

If you are going on a boat tour, and are susceptible to motion sickness, consider taking meds or other remedies. I took Dramamine in advance of a boat tour at Lahaina, and am glad I did since the ride was very rough.

On the Big Island, we walked from a parking lot through some greenery to the beach. It was so pretty there that I hadn't considered the downside. The rain, which makes it so lush and green, also causes standing water -- and insects.

I was wearing shorts and I received several nasty insect bites that later developed into itchy red patches. The bites were so unsightly, I wore long pants for the remainder of the cruise.

I suggest bringing insect repellent. DW wore long pants that were treated with insect repellent and did not get a single bite.

YMMV

So, VERY interesting!!

All this time, you could NOT book the Old Lahaina Luau (OLL) directly with OLL for May 5th (I checked the very first day the excursions came out). And, so I assumed, Disney had bought out the venue (despite the fact that it holds 500+ people).

NOW, you CAN book directly with Old Lahaina Luau, but ONLY the traditional seating (on a mat on the ground). You still can NOT book a reservation for May 5th if you want table and chair seating. (https://www.oldlahainaluau.com/reservations)

The cost for the two seating options is the same: Adults (13+) are $102.08 (incl tax) and Children (3-12) are $70.83 (incl. tax). Children 2 and under are free.

DCL considers kids 10 and up adults for $196 and kids (3-9) for $129.

I just talked to the OLL folks and they weren't willing to tell me that Disney had bought them out for May 5th but now gave back some seats, BUT they did say that "they were previously sold out for that day, but had some cancellations." (You could have always booked both types of seating on any other day in May)

So, OLL is now allowing online booking for this date if you are willing to sit on traditional mats AND you book through the website as long as there is availability.

Bottom line - If you are interested in the OLL, you can now book it directly for a lot cheaper than DCL IF you are willing to sit on the traditional mats.

Hope this helps some of you who wanted the OLL luau, but didn't want to pay DCL prices! It also tells me that since "outsiders" can book OLL now, there is likely NOT to be any characters at the luau!

I would just assume that they will not force anyone to sit on the ground who isn't capable of it. Racked my brain for instances, and I can't imagine that. I would guess that there's at least a block of seating for Disney passengers.

I would never have expected there to be Disney characters at the luau, since those "Disney special" excursions are usually very specifically noted by DCL, and the writeup for this one said nothing about "Disney exclusive" or "Disney characters." It's supposed to be a traditional luau and I wouldn't want to see characters there personally.

I was thinking today about the firework display that Disney put on when we first arrived to Barcelona. Do you think they will do fireworks in Hawaii?

Thank you Woody for sharing with us and please continue to do so. :)

I was curious how Disney organized their seating at OLL, since they have traditional and tables and I sent an email last night. This is what I got as their response (from OLL): "As of right now, Disney is set up as open-seating; meaning that on the evening of the Luau, guests will be shown in from the busses and ushered to the next available seats. Essentially, it’ll be first in, first to be seated in the seats purchased by Disney. We will seat guests at tables closest to the stage first and work our way back."

Since I've never been to Hawaii, I appreciate your insights and advice. Thanks, Woody!

Oh, and Val and Bob, thank you for the cute magnet. That was an unexpected little treat!

Years ago my mom and I did a roller coaster tour of the US - we did some 100 coasters in 2 weeks. By the end I was feeling the issue in my ears and tried a scopolomine patch (that little round one)...nasty side effect - in 2 days I was blind. Literally. I couldn't see my hand in front of my face. I panicked just a tad. I called a pharmacy (we were in Texas at that point) and asked about it - seems like 1 in 10,000 have that little effect. It took 4 days for my vision to return once I removed the patch.

My suggestion is that if someone is going to try that patch, get a sample from somewhere and TRY IT AT HOME FIRST. One doesn't want to go blind (even temporarily) while on vacation.

I don't recall any rough seas on the first Alaska...did we have rough water?

Thanks for the info Cayla. That's good to know about the patch.

DID we have rough water???? Don't you remember the first day going up the outside passage from Vancouver? I had the Champagne Girls tasting that day, were you there? I was fine until I started to drink the champagne. Then I got sick. I stopped drinking and was fine again. But it was rough.

I would be interested!... Thanks!.. I don't want to send a day !

See the next post by disneycruisegal. That's exactly what I was talking about. I know you have to get a script from your doctor to get them. But they really do work well.

I had that patch on also but still had to miss the Champagne Girls...it wasn't enough for once  We also use the nausea bands but the stretchy ones and they work great also - normally. I think for the average person either one would be a great help...it is just that I take a large amount of medication that occasionally bothers me and it seems to think rough seas means they all have to bother me at once ;)

I understand. Everyone is different. Sorry it doesn't work for you. It was really rough doing that champagne girls tasting. I didn't have a good time. So we'll have to make up for it this time!

LOVE THE SHIRTS- A few alterations on mine and I am good to go. Thanks for the magnets and the calendars. The magnet is on my refrig next to the PC one.

I got my champagne girl earrings and they are adorable. I usually do not wear dangling ones but I couldn't resist these. Also got two pair of studs. One with the blue flower and Mickey head and another with the DCL logo.

Things are falling into place. Go all my FE in packages by deck and now to get the deck plans out and put them in some order so we are not running all over the place.
