:rolleyes1May be showing up in LA a little earlier, or staying there a little longer......

Our company just put out early retirement offers and I am SERIOUSLY considering the 'buy out'. If I do it (the heart says yes, the head is still running the numbers) I'll be retired in abour 45 days! :scared1:

.

I you can make the numbers stack up, then go for it.

Can someone tell us the specifics of the DCL bus (or point us to the info); when it leaves Disney/arrives at the port? Penny and I are staying at the Paradise Pier prior to sailing and are starting to look at the logistics.

Thank you.

Based on the arrangements in October, we had to have the luggage ready for pick up by 8:00 AM. The coach then left from the Disney resorts between noon and 12:15 PM. We stayed at Grand Californian and were the last pick up at 12:15 PM. We got to the port around 1:00 PM and it were able to walk straight to a check in desk and from their straight onto the ship. The only draw back was that by the time we got on the ship, Parrot Cay had already closed and there was no seating at Beach Blanket Buffet. We ended up taking our tray with lunch all the way to the Goofy pool and the ship was nowhere near full.

Thanks Corinna. Exactly the information we needed. I think we are presently scheduled for an 11:30 check-in (meeting my son/DIL) so depending on their plans, we might just take alternate transportation. Hope we get to say hi. :goodvibes

So, if we are staying off site, do we just go ahead and bring our luggage with us when we come to get on the bus or do we have to have luggage ready and at the GF at 8am? :confused3

I am sorry, I don't know the answer for this.

I'm hoping to send a box with things like my white noise fan and corkscrews and coffee mugs and all the miscellaneous schtuff that take up so much room in the suitcases, though I haven't looked into it at all for Port of Los Angeles. I've been wondering more about how to send things back home - looks like LAX doesn't have a post office. What I might end up doing is bringing stuff that's old/used up/seen better days and just trash it all at the end of the cruise. We're flying SW so I could just bring an additional suitcase but I really like to keep it light when traveling - my philosophy is just because I can take two bags for free doesn't mean I should, LOL!

We always pack a duffle bag inside our luggage, that way, if we buy too much stuff, we pack the duffle with dirty clothes, and have more room in hardsided suitcase for new stuff. It works great if you do not have to pay for extra checked baggage, and if you do, still might be cheaper than shipping a box back home (depending upon airline).

Sounds great - go for it!

Yes I did, I believe they had me put my reservation # on box with date of my stay. They put it in there locked storage room. I know they only want it sent just before your stay. I think I mailed it a week before I left. :rolleyes1 I also called before like 2 days before I left and it was nice to know my package was there.:thumbsup2

Thank you for information. Then this is what I'm gonna do too :)

I ordered one shirt, one hat and some flower leis.....they will all be waiting in our stateroom when we get there. I don't think there's an option to mail it to your house.

I was looking at that shirt...but I'm still GTY so I probably can't order anything till I get my stateroom number.....

Just Do It - I was offered a buy out almost 3 years ago and took it. I don not regret it one bit.

Now that I am retired, everyday is Saturday. It is GREAT!

The just took my reservation number. They didn't even ask my stateroom number so I don't think it matters if you order at GTY or when you get assigned. Just give them your ressie number when they ask and I think they take care of the rest.

Where did you order the leis?

I ordered it on the telephone with the same order for the shirt and hat. I wanted flowers but the ones that I picked out were for Easter and not our sailing. She tried to sell me Caribbean arrangements and I said NO I'm going to Hawaii and I don't want Caribbean. Then she said she has fresh flower leis...mine are purple orchids. So just call that number on the same page as all the other Hawaii gifts.

Sorry I haven't been active here in awhile but have been having extensive dental surgery and recovering!! I am way behind so if I have missed anything important that I needed to respond to, will you please PM me?

Hope to be active again soon!

As you can tell by the date I registered and the number of post that I am a long time lurker. I am sure I could win a reward for it, but this cruise has me rethinking my style. No more standing outside looking in. On this cruise will be me (Kristan), husband Dewayne, and son Kaleb who will be a month shy of five when we cruise. We are all looking forward to this vacation and can't wait for it to finally be here. I think I have all the planning done.

I have read all posts and after posting this I will go back and sign up for the FE. We are all excited to be doing this for the first time. I finally made up my mind today on what our gifts will be so I am headed off to Michael's later. Hoping they turn out as good as they look in my head.

I am training for the Disney Marathon (first time for that too) so I will be running everyday on deck 4 so if you see a women who looks like she is about to pass out that would be me so please say hi. I am looking forward to meeting everyone.

Kristan

Linda sent her scrapbooking materials and I sent my Champagne Girls things to LA for the LA/Repo - first Alaskan cruises. We both had problems. Mine arrived late, so did Linda's and Linda never got one of her boxes and I believe another one was damaged.

I can't say that it happens all the time or if this was one isolated incident because it's the only time I have mailed to LA.

Perhaps they have worked out the bugs by now.

Thats what I'm scared of...box getting lost or being too late....then what I'll do with FEs after the cruise ? :):):) Not sure what I'm gonna do......

Nancy and I are going to be driving down from northern California so if anyone wants to ship some things ahead to me, I will happy to bring them along. All you have to do is make arrangements to ge the box from me before the cruise. You can PM me if you are interested in doing this.

Welcome. I think you will enjoy chatting here with us. I am actually more excited about this cruise than any of the others I have been on because I will be meeting the great people I have been talking to for months :dance3:

Where are you traveling from to meet us?
