Finally a day off....working nights and days is really messing up my schedule.

Bethany has had Bronchitis for a few days. She rarely gets sick and just because I have been fearing her missing any school of course the poor kid gets it. Kept her home and hopefully she'll get better quick, they are ok with the 2 weeks in April but dont want to push it.

Hoping to work on my FE gifts today and book our flights when hubby gets up.
Welcome to the newbies and glad to see more names being added to FE list.

Oh my...speedy recovery my dear..... :grouphug:

....also, I saw someone posting a query about whether or not we'd know people's DIS names from the lanyards....and the answer is yes.....in the spirit of our friend Ken, who made me my very first DIS lanyard, what I usually do is put everyone's real world name in big letters on the name badge and their DIS name in smaller letters beneath. For those who don't have their own DIS name (friends, family, etc.), I usually put the main DIS name in parentheses. So, for example, on my name badge it will say ERIK with "tig82174" beneath; and on Jason's it will say JASON and beneath it will say "(tig82174")...so when people see me, they'll be like "oh, you're tig82174" and when they see Jason (as if we'd ever not be together :lmao:---those who have cruised with us before know we're kinda inseparable) will say, "Oh, you're traveling with tig82174" :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Gee - and here I thought my real name was chip&dale&fun.....my mailman thought so after my first dismeet.....

Thanks for all the lanyard coordination.....

As you can tell by the date I registered and the number of post that I am a long time lurker. I am sure I could win a reward for it, but this cruise has me rethinking my style. No more standing outside looking in. On this cruise will be me (Kristan), husband Dewayne, and son Kaleb who will be a month shy of five when we cruise. We are all looking forward to this vacation and can't wait for it to finally be here. I think I have all the planning done.

I have read all posts and after posting this I will go back and sign up for the FE. We are all excited to be doing this for the first time. I finally made up my mind today on what our gifts will be so I am headed off to Michael's later. Hoping they turn out as good as they look in my head.

I am training for the Disney Marathon (first time for that too) so I will be running everyday on deck 4 so if you see a women who looks like she is about to pass out that would be me so please say hi. I am looking forward to meeting everyone.

Kristan

Hi Kristan and welcome.....We need to get your post count higher....

I hope it's not too painful and I wish you speedy recovery :)

Not too much pain with the drugs they give you but only taking some ibuprofen and antibiotics now. I do have some minor swelling and bruising but hope that goes away soon. Thanks for your warm thoughts.

Hardest part will be the soft diet for the next 5 months. I am going to use this opportunity to learn new recipes and to loose weight. If I can give up coffee cold turkey, I can do ANYTHING!

The rule is if you can't push it through the tines of a fork, don't eat it. One of my favorite things to munch on is chips and I CAN'T have them for 5 months!!

Oh, no! I hope you heal quickly (in both areas!).

Lots of prayers for a speedy recovery. Please follow doctors orders exactly for recovery process so you get in shape for cruise :) Of course cruising is a great
way to recover...we originally took I first cruise on orders from my daughters Dr. and got hooked :-)

I LOVE chips..almost all kind. I really felt I needed to cut down on how many I ate - especially when I added a dip to them :) Now 90% of the chips I eat are basically crumbs. I take the bag and crush the chips inside the sealed bag as much as possible...then as I use them I crush them even more so they are more like a very coarse pepper size :) I put them in salads, sprinkle on vegetables, stews and soups as I am eating them.
I discovered that what I was really missing was the flavor and the CRUNCH.

You can actually just eat a small spoonful without chewing if you really crave the flavor.

I hope you will be able to enjoy good food on the ship.....

I'm amazed you were able to give up coffee like that......if I don't have at least half of cup of coffee in the morning (i'm not really big coffee drinker) I'll get such a bad headache I can't get rid of it.....so I guess this makes me coffee junkie? LOL

I had been drinking coffee from dawn til dusk since I was about 15. About 5 1/2 years ago, my stomach started bothering me. I thought it might be all the coffee I drank, so I quit cold turkey. For about 3 days, I thought my head was going to explode, then I was fine. Turned out I had a bad gall bladder which needed to be removed. However, since I had quit the habit, I just never went back. I drink decaffeinated tea now and though I love the smell of coffee, don't miss it.

Goodness, that sounds tough. I went up the walls when I was on a soft diet for two weeks after some oral surgery about 12 years ago.

We are celebrating our 14th anniversary today. I know that is nothing compared to a lot of people here, but in my generation, it is major achievement. Graham came to the town where I work once he finished to the day and we had a lovely meal at an Indian restaurant that I had wanted to try for ages.

Being finally PIF and having the excursions booked has given me a second wind as far as the cruise is concerned. I finished the Fish Extender gifts for the men yesterday and ordered the prints for the magnets. I am still missing supplies for the rest of the Fish Extender gifts, but I am hoping that the remaining materials for the kid's gifts arrived within the next couple of days.

I am in the process of putting a rough layout together for the Group Navigator. A lot of you who are organizing activities have already got back to me with activities to be included in the Navigator. Thanks for this.

Here is a list of activities that I think or know are definitely taking place:

Fish Extenders - confirmed
Secret Mickey - confirmed
Scavenger Hunt - confirmed
Group Excursion Feast at Lele Luau - confirmed
Jewellery Workshops - confirmed
Stateroom Tour - confirmed
Scrapbooking Class - confirmed
Geezer/ GIT Meet Up - confirmed
Champagne Girls - confirmed
Candy Swap
Poker Tournament
Group Transport to Aulani
Pre-cruise meet at the Doubletree San Pedro

There are also a number of other activities that were mentioned at one stage or another, but I am not sure if they are still going ahead:

Group Palo Brunch
Pre-cruise Meet at Disneyland/ Grand Californian
Pyjama Breakfast
Group Vow Renewal
Group Photo with Group Hawaii shirts
Improv Workshop

If you are organizing any of those activities that are not confirmed yet or know anything about the activities in the second group, can you please let me know?

I would also like to ask all organizers to send me a brief description of their activity that will be included in the Group Navigator. I have a page for each activity and I can add information about participants, groupings, running order, timing, etc nearer the time if you do not have this information as yet. For now I just want the description. For the activities that I am running, this is just a paragraph, which did not take me long to put together.

I am cross-posting this here from the main cruise forum as I know that there are people on here that did the West Coast Repo and first Alaskan cruise back to back last year.

I hope that somebody on here can help me. We are going on our next cruise shortly and are hoping to book some cruises for next year while we are on the ship. The cruises that we are looking at are the repositioning cruise from Los Angeles to Vancouver and the first Alaskan cruise of the season. We have never done a back to back cruise on DCL before. I know that last year quite a lot of people did those two cruises back to back. How did this work in Vancouver? Did you have to get off the ship? Were you able to leave your baggage in your cabin or with guest services or did you have to take it with you to clear customs? Were you able to get straight back on the ship or did you have to wait to check in with people who were just joining the ship in Vancouver? Any help and pointers that you can offer are greatly appreciated.
