You might want to check the Sheraton. One of the podcast team (can't remember who) took there mother in a wheel chair and found their shuttle service to be great. I can try to dig out the details if you want.

I'll check there thank you.

Hi all! I'm new to the board...well I've been on the boards before, but this is my first post :yay:

So my fiancee and I have been booked for the Hawaii cruise in April since the day it opened up! We got so lucky because it leaves the day after our wedding so it's going to be our honeymoon

Is anyone else going to be newly weds??

If not, I'm still excited to talk to anyone else that's going to be there!
I cannot wait till April!!!!!

Jason and I are celebrating our honeymoon on the hawaii cruise, too. We technically got married legally the first day it was legal here in NYS this past July...but our formal ceremony and reception with friends and family is Saturday, April 21st, 2012----a date we intentionally chose because it's a week before this trip and we wanted this trip to be our honeymoon :)

Oh congrats!!! Yeah we knew we wanted an April wedding, then we saw this cruise and booked the venue for the day before we leave! We're from Texas so we'll have to fly out pretty early but thank goodness for the time change!! It's good to know we're not gunna be the only honeymooners :)

That would be the Sheraton Anaheim with the dedicated shuttle service. It's shuttle stop at DL is right next to Candy Cane Inn's.

There are 2 other area Sheratons, neither with dedicated shuttle service -- Sheraton Park at the Anaheim Resort (uses ART shuttle bus, but may be more convenient for those who don't mind the walk of a few blocks to the park) and the Sheraton Garden Grove (shared shuttle bus with a couple of other resorts).

so not really a reply, but finally asked and got the OK for the time off for the cruise! Hurray, I can finally officially think about it! Now to find the money.

Post cruise we are also heading to DL - only for a single night (2 days in park)

Thats our plan too - our flights home aren't until 11pm-ish so when given the choice of being stuck with our suitcases from the time we got off the ship until 11pm OR spending an extra night and having two days in the parks... we took option #2

I wanted to call and ask them about a day room too. I looked up booking a room and it would be $399 for a standard room with a standard view. I would pay that much for some excursions for both me and John so I might just do that. First I want to see what DCL is going to offer us for excursions. But I'm keeping it in mind. I can just see myself going around the lazy river all day long....stopping only to have one of those fruitty boozy drinks. haha.

Just a thought... can't you get 4 people in a room - if you split the cost with another couple, you could halve the price of your "excursion" :)

I was able to get a studio at VGC this morning for 4 days post cruise. :yay::woohoo:

I'm anxiously awaiting to hear from DVC too - I put in my request - have to use the webform to do it rather than very expensive international phonecalls... and for some reason, they struggle with my accent on the phone. Seriously, what accent?

Since I live on west coast and daughter can't fly we never got involved in the vacation club because when it started years ago there was nothing at DL. So when and where did Disney VC villas appear in California?

As someone else said, they opened in September 2009. We have stayed a couple of times and they are lovely rooms and a great location!

Everyone going to VGC after the cruise have you made transportation arrangements yet?

Sounds like there is at least 20 of us or maybe more? 3 of us here.

We haven't arranged our transport yet, it will be next on our list once we have confirmed accommodation but we may be keen to share a ride.

Welcome on board and congratulations on your upcoming wedding.

First of all I would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. A simple surgery turned into more than I expected. I was in the Hospital for 10 days and am now home. I am still very weak but glad to be here.

Glad to hear you are home. Continue to rest and feel better soon.

Thanks everyone!
I'm so excited for this cruise!!!!!
I read some of the first pages and saw some different things that y'all do while on the boat. I didn't really understand it all, but I've got like 6 months to catch up :surfweb:

To all of our new cruisers welcome. Well I am just sitting here at MCO waiting to start making the trek back to LAX. It is going to involve 3 planes, 2 changes of planes but the price is right. Had a great 3 week WDW/DCL trip. Best of all now we are Platinum Castaways after our 10/8 Eastern cruise which had 18 foot seas the first night, and passengers and crew were dropping like flies.

:welcome: to all the newbees!!!!!!! The more, the merrier!!!

Thanks to those who posted about transport options - I had forgotten the huge luggage perk using DCL transport. It may be worth the extra few bucks....!

Speaking of all the things planned, is anyone interested in a Candy Exchange?? I didn't see it posted & would be happy to oversee it. In my experience, it worked best with counting people, rather than staterooms - like 25 or so?? It is a fun way to try candy from different parts of the world/country... Just a thought...and maybe it's already there & I missed it! :cool1:

No worries....if you are not sure about something just ask....we will try to explain or point you in right direction...

Got the staples etc out today but I still feel like I got hit by a tractor trailer truck. The doc says everything is "coming along"
Right now jacki I can't see me doing that dance- maybe in a few weeks.

I can't wait to get my energy back - I guess it takes time

Patience, Charlotte! Eat well, drink lots of water, and do your exercises - slowly and gently. All *will* be well, in time. :cutie:

Anyone can book regular hotel rooms at the Grand Californian if you are not DVC, it's just that there are certain "villas" set aside for DVC members (which we are) that we can use our DVC points for (the villas have kitchen facilities, washer/dryer in one-bedroom and above, jacuzzi tubs, among other things). Some of the villas are made available to the general public if they are not booked by a DVC member. I don't know the timing on this, though, or the cost. I hope that helps.

As Joanne says, or you can rent points from a DVC member, which can be less costly than paying Disney price for the villa. There is a rent points area on the DVC section of the DIS.
Thanks, I'll take a peek at the rent points thing - I'm curious how this works!

**Clueless Confession** - so we just stayed at the Grand Californian in September, as we always have since it was built. But we haven't been back since before the Villas were built. Once we got there I was so caught up in having a great time, I never even noticed where they were. The GC didn't look any different than I remembered. Seriously where are these - are they using a cloaking device on these babies. ;)

:thumbsup2 I LOVE that they hold the luggage while we play some more! :woohoo:
