Had a very scary morning. We woke up this morning to a colder than normal house. Turns out the gas valve on the furnace broke - on the coldest day of the year! :scared1: Thankfully I'm married to a wonderful man who is very handy and was able to fix it with some spare parts from work. He's ordering a new valve and will replace it later in the week.

We are truly blessed that we only had 5-6 hours of cold. I know that there are many throughout this country who experience these kind of temperatures all winter long.

hey all! We have a Super Bowl party today, people will arrive within the next half hour, so I thought I'd pop in here for a minute and give us yet another BUMP! I spent my morning at Costco buying tons of goodies for the party, and then I got a manicure and my eyebrows waxed (OUCH!) Of course, my princess got her finger and toe nails painted too!

Not really looking forward to the party much. I am not in the mood to entertain today. I wish I could go upstairs with the laptop and DIS! But there are some wives and kids coming too who won't be watching the game, so I am setting up some goodies and coffee in the dining room!

I'll be back later tonight! Anyone else have plans for the Super Bowl?

We've got the pre-game on at our house and we'll be watching. More for the commercials than anything. Of course being from Chicago i hope the Bears win because it will make everyone I work with happy and my FIL happy. We aren't big pro football fans so we personally don't care.

Happy Monday morning! I woke up late so had to rush! Hate that! It just starts my whole day off the wrong way, you know? Kids are at school now though and I have time to myself with my cup of coffee! Ahhhh...heaven! :cloud9:

Hope you all had a great weekend! It sure has been quiet around here. You all must have a life! :lmao:

So glad you were fortunate enough to get your problem fixed.

I can't believe how cold it is on the East. Stay warm.

we woke up to -2 gegrees this morning and a wind chill we do not even want to think about. The first calls of my classroom is to cold started to come in about 7:30 am and continued all day. Expect more of the same tomorow. hope everyone is warm... Mike

Good morning everyone! Found us halfway down page 2!

Another cold day here in Chicago. Hope both Mike and Karen and their families are managing to stay warm.

Good morning! We are having a heat wave here in Southern California! It's been in the 80's! My DD is wearing crops to school today! Still not feeling 100%, but I think the Airborne is keeping me from feeling worse! Only today and tomorrow, and I will be off for 4 days! :cheer2: Hopefully by the time I go back to work on Monday, I will feel back to my old self again!

It's been SO slow around here! Where is Karen? I hope she didn't freeze to death! Come visit me for some warm weather! Or Jen!

Karen didn't freeze to death....yet!

I'd LOVE to say "I'm freezing my butt off" but darn it, my butt seems like it's here to stay!!! :(

It's bitter cold here. So much so that we've had to move the outside cat inside (which is a huge issue b/c he's not so fond of the litterbox) :( (or when he tries to use it he misses b/c he's a huge 15 pound beast and can't fit himself in it!) :scared1: So he's confined to a very small, non-carpeted area of the house. Which is driving indoor cat bonkers b/c he loves to attack outdoor cat. :sad2:

Now it's snowing pretty hard here and according to the radar (check weather.com zip 43140) it's going to be snowing for awhile. :scared1:

Luckily KT's rehearsal was cancelled tonight. And at 30 minutes away in GOOD weather, I'm very very glad of that.

We're going to eat dinner (crepes, b/c Mike is on call) and hunker down and watch a movie. :) Any suggestions?

Oh, and I'm sure we'll watch American Idol later too. :)

Hi,

I certainly don't want to find us on page 2 again.

I haven't been around much because I've been so busy (more like I've bitten off more than I can chew). I'm having my daughter's soccer team over on Saturday to decorate heart shaped cakes. I have to make at least 13 cakes.

I'm also coaching an AYSO team so my daughters can play together for the first and only time. I've never coached. I don't want to do it but there weren't enough coaches. I wake up anxious in the middle of the night.:scared1:

I'm also cookie mom and I have to collect orders on Friday.

Karen - I am going to call in with a new ? - hopefully he'll answer it and we'll get to hear it on a podcast. I enjoyed listening today as I tried to clean our office.

Talk to you later. I told the youngest that if she helps me go through the clothes she outgrew we can go to Build a Bear and replace the bear the dog ate the eyes out of. That is after picking up the oldest from church and taking her to soccer practice.

YIPPIE! Mike will love it. Btw, I asked Mike about what you PM'd me about and he said "yeah, I just mentioned it in that show....didn't get into detail." :sad2: Thanks for telling ME that ....ok, ok, I should have listened to it! :)

I just spent the last hour shovelling the 4-5 inches of snow in the drive. YIKES! So much for the forecasters being right (are they ever?) They said 1-3 inches!

Must go throw in laundry. Mike got home and told me he lanced an abcess on this kid's leg and blood and pus went EVERYWHERE....first shooting out at him, then all over the exam table....then the little guy got away from mom and started crawling away (he was almost 2) and got blood and pus on mom and on the wall and everywhere. Mike said it looked like a scene from CSI.

So now his clothes are covered with MRSA. Wondering just how hot of water I need to kill MRSA. BLECH!!

Good morning everyone! Another cold one today! We had snow all day yesterday but it really didn't amount to much. It was all light and fluffy stuff - not the heavy wet stuff.

I'm getting really sick of winter and will be glad to see Spring come. These old bones are sick of being cold.

Hope everyone has a great (and where needed - warmer) day!

morning! :surfweb: Glad today is my last day of work for this week! I think I'll just sleep tomorrow while the kids are in school! :rotfl:

Yesterday was my DS first official boy scout meeting, and low and behold...there was a lady there who's been on the Disney cruise! So you can only imagine what I talked about all night! :thumbsup2

Looks like it cooled off some again, but that's ok. I wasn't ready for spring temperatures yet!

Jen, was the country inn & suites the hotel you wanted to stay at? I looked at their website and heard a lot of positive things on the main board, so I think that's the one we'll go with for the night before the cruise! They have the kids suite with a bunkbed, for cheaper than a regular room at the Radisson!

Hi,

We stayed at Ron Jon's. We basically had a 2 bedroom condo, but the beds were so uncomfortable that we wouldn't stay there again.

I'm going to look at Country Inn & Suites and the Residence Inn (I think the Residence Inn opened in March 2006).

Where are Country Inn & Suites located in relation to the port?

Yeah, I liked your pics of the Ron Jon's. I won't stay there because when I called they were incredibly rude, and well...if you're rude to me, then I guess you don't want my business! The Country Inn & Suites is pretty new too. You can get a AAA rate for the kids suite with the bunks for $116. The description doesn't show up on their website, but I checked on the AAA website and it was there! Looks like a nice hotel. Here's their website: http://www.countryinns.com/capecanaveralfl

Oh, BTW, they are supposed to be the closest hotel to the port, so that's another plus!

I went to their website. I'll either stay there or Residence Inn.

I have to book whale watching for July and then I'll worry about booking this. If I make this cruise because I've been so stressed lately.
