Ok, here's my day in a nutshell.
Wake up in the middle of the night with a HORRIBLY bad sore throat. Go back to sleep for awhile but end up getting up and dragging my aching body out of bed.
Shuttle Mike off to work after problems with the coffee pot, syncing his iPod (and finally handing mine over and telling him to use that one) and him leaving 15 minutes late. Oh, but before he left he swabbed my throat to take it in for a throat culture (lots of strep going around these parts lately)
Rouse the cranky children who went to bed too late last night.
15 minutes later get a call from Mike "call the office, tell them there has been an emergency and I won't be in."
???????
Ok, how about better yet you tell ME what the emergency is!!
His heater hasn't been working consistantly in his truck (this is just after he had his $800 90,000 mile maintenance done.) Well, all of a sudden on the way to work, every light on his instrument panel came on, a horrible alarm started buzzing, and his engine started smoking.

So he pulled over. But he was irrational b/c he was FROZEN. It was like 2 degrees and he had been in a freezing car for 20 minutes now.
Ok, plan B. Skip the latte, skip breakfast, holler to the kids to GET UP AND GET DRESSED
NOW!!!!!!!!!!!
Luckily my kids are good about recognizing when there is something truly wrong and they do not question things at that point (like when we did the same thing when we thought Mike was having a stroke) They were up and dressed with shoes and winter coats within 4 minutes---something that on a normal day could take 30 minutes!
So I go find Mike---who wasn't really sure where he was b/c he had been listening to a podcast and he didn't pay attention to what landmarks he had passed. He just knew he was *somewhere* on rt. 40 heading west.

Oh, and that there was a hill behind him, and a hill in front of him.
So we sit and wait for the tow truck (which
AAA says would be there within the next 90 minutes!) Mike had a patient he had to see in the hospital so once the tow truck driver got there 45 minutes later, I went with the driver, and Mike mike went to the hospital with the kids. Took the car BACK to the place that just did the maintenance (24 miles away--AAA only covers 3 miles....21 miles=$63)
Call piano teacher. Cancel today's lesson. Fret about getting kids to rehearsal tonight. (luckily KT's rehearsal was just cancelled, so we just have Nick's)
Sit and wait for Mike to pick me up. Remember, I'm feeling like crap and I haven't had any caffeine.

Mike finally gets done at the hospital and comes to pick me up. Now the kids are starving (hmmm, stale pop-tarts don't hold them over)
So we eat out at Bob Evans.
And now I'm home. And I've told the story. And now I'm going to take a nap in my bed.
Still waiting for the call from the car place. All we know for certain is "you were missing 2 gallons of antifreeze."
Apparently Mike didn't drink it or he wouldn't have been so cold when I picked him up!
I'm so sick of everything breaking. Shower leaks. Dishwasher is dead. Fridge is making a weird noise. Car breaks down. Flag pole blew over in the last wind storm. Crap, might as well put my car up on blocks in my yard to complete the look!!!
