April 21, 2007 -- Western Magic -- anyone?

ohMom, mentioned to MIL your special cruise preparation and she freaked out. :rotfl: Thought it was the best thing she ever heard of. I told her that you said it hurt a little and she cooled off pretty quick.

freaked out in a good way?? i have to get touched up Apr 5, want me to take a gruesome right after photo to scare her off? :rotfl:

Thanks Amy for starting this!!

1. Have you ever taken a Disney cruise? We took our first one in 2003. It was tops on the list of vacations we wanted to take our kids on before they started leaving home. We did the land/sea combination and stayed at the Polynesian - loved it!!!

2. If you could only visit one Disney park on a visit which would it be and why? Do I really have to pick just one, or can I pick one from each coast. Love Disneyland -- grew up right by it. For WDW -- I love them all -- especially Animal Kingdom. When I was there last year by myself on business -- I went on safari, oh about 10 times.

3. What is your favorite Disney restaurant? I love Ohana and I love California Grill -- the other place with the chocolate souffle.

4. What was the #1 reason you booked this particular cruise? We are celebrating the end of the doctorate program for my husband. When we suggested Hawaii, the kids (almost in unison) said NO -- we want another Disney cruise -- did not take much convincing for us.

5. If you could have ANY job at Disney, what would it be? I want to drive the safari vehicles at Animal Kingdom (I'm sure they have a real name -- just don't know it)

Val - I am glad you are feeling better!

We have used the accordian folder as well and love it. It also makes a great place to keep momentos. We also keep a smaller envelope with copies of our passports and birth certificates.

Yep, she said she would do it in an instant. Then I said it would hurt and she said "Well no then."

I just heard back from Captain Marvin's. We are now booked on the 8:30 snorkel (2.5 hrs). :thumbsup2 My DD (Jennifer) keeps telling me that she does not want to do this excursion. I know she'll love it. She's just a bit freaked after the Steve Irwin incident.

YAY! I think breakfast sounds good, too.
I think his death was an extremely rare case. I thought I heard that most tamed rays have their barbs removed, but in his case, it was one that was not in captivity. (:confused3 ???)

i DVRed a show on Travel Channel -- cruising do's and don'ts -- Disney ships are featured quite a bit if anyone needs a fix :teeth:

DH saw it was going to be on last night, and I set up the Tivo for it, but we haven't watched it yet. Does it have lots of new stuff compared to the "all DCL show" that was on last week? I hope so!

Val - I am glad you are feeling better!

Thanks for everyone's well wishes! They really mean a lot! :grouphug:
Sounds like I need to get myself an accordian folder!

I'm doing my best to stalk today, but I am so exhausted that I keep falling asleep! I'm not getting any of my work done because I'm dozing. It will probably take me the rest of the day to finish what should have been done by now. :sad1:

The stingrays in Grand Cayman are wild, they are not "tamed", like the Disney ones are. Now, that being said, I felt perfectly safe doing it back in 2003. These stingrays have been coming to this sandbar for YEARS, and they know that they're going to get fed. Heck, when we went in '03, as soon as our "food" for them was gone, they swam over to the newest boat that had arrived at the sandbar, because they knew that was the next food source. Stingrays are actually very gentle creatures that get a bad rap for their barbs. We all know in Florida that when you get in the water, you do the "stingray shuffle" as stingrays bury themselves in the sand of the bottom, and most stingray stings are from people stepping on them. At Stingray City, they are not laying down, but swimming along, knowing that they will get food.

Well I'm not having any luck with adding the list of questions to this post so I guess I will have to do it the hard way, so here it goes:

1. Have you ever taken a Disney Cruise? No and this is our first cruise..

2. If you could only visit one Disney park on a visit which would it be and why? I think I too would make it MK, because of Main Street, the castle and also because going to MK(at the time it was the only park) was the first big family vacation we went on as a family when I was growing up.

3. What is your favorite Disney Restaurant? I really liked Coral Reef, the food was ok but watching the fish while eatting was great...

4. What was the #1 reason you booked this particular cruise? There were a few reasons why we booked this particular cruise 1. school vacation 2. to celebrate our 25th Anniversary 3. Kids Clubs-so we could celebrate our anniversary

5. If you could have any job at Disney what would it be? part-time monorail driver, why-air conditioning and discounted tickets, I'm sure there is a better job I would want but I will have to put more thought into it, I live in NH and I'm not much on the heat in the summer so it would have to have air-conditioning...

This was fun....

1. Have you ever taken a Disney cruise?
First one. Have been on a Royal Carribean Cruise back in 2001

2. If you could only visit one Disney park on a visit which would it be and why?Mine is MGM for Tower of Terror and my all time favorite - Beauty and the Beast Show. DH is MGM. DD is MGM for the street entertainers, MK for the characters, EPCOT for the countries and people

3. What is your favorite Disney restaurant?
Mine - MGM's 50s Diner when you have a really good waiter/waitress that are into the spirit of watching elbows and putting people in corners, etc. Had one waiter that took one of the kids in our group and decided he did not belong to us and put him with another family. That was funny
DH is California Grill, DD - Crystal Palace

4. What was the #1 reason you booked this particular cruise?
Wanted the Disney experience, but something different than WDW. 2 times per year over the last 3 years, was great, but wanted a change. And we have school vacation that week so DD doesn't have to miss school nor make up homework

5. If you could have ANY job at Disney, what would it be?
I like Amy's idea "I would love to be one of those VIP guides that take around celebrities!!"

6. Favorite character: mine - Beauty and the Beast, DH - Goofy, DD - Ariel and PIGLET

The picture below is DH - Kip on the left, friend of DDs in front of him
On the right DD - Casey and myself.

Amy, This is a great idea.

1. Have you ever taken a Disney cruise? Yes, This is our second Disney Cruise.

2. If you could only visit one Disney park on a visit which would it be and why? This is a tough one. I love MK because as a kid it was the only park and walking down Main Street sparks memories. I love AK because it is new and the animals are awsome as well as Expedition Evererest. MGM has Lights, Camera, Action, Tower of Terror and Twilight Zone, but if I could only visit one it would be Epcot. I coud do Mission Space , Soar'in and Test Track in the morning and relax touring the countries in the afternoon. Of course this would be during the wine and food festival!!

3. What is your favorite Disney restaurant?Boma's then Cape May. We love the buffets!

4. What was the #1 reason you booked this particular cruise? Our first cruise was a tester on the Wonder, we had such a blast on that we knew we would be coming back. This is our kids vacation week.

5. If you could have ANY job at Disney, what would it be?When I retire I will definately be driving the boats between Epcot and MGM.

1. Have you ever taken a Disney cruise?

Yes, the Land & Sea on the Magic in 1998

2. If you could only visit one Disney park on a visit which would it be and why?

MK!! It is truly the Magic. Just the feel of walking in the park and enjoying the music, seeing the castle and smelling the baked good from the bakery!!

3. What is your favorite Disney restaurant?

DH's is 50's Prime Time--he loves the PB&J milkshakes. Mine--this is a hard one, it would have to be Spoodles. I love the Boardwalk area and love the display cooking.

4. What was the #1 reason you booked this particular cruise?

Its our 10th wedding anniversary. We wanted to do a double dip at CC but they were not available around this time so we booked this one.

5. If you could have ANY job at Disney, what would it be?

It would either be working at the front desk of a Deluxe resort OR working in a popcorn cart. I LOVE Disney popcorn. I might eat more than I sell.

Val--hope you feel better soon!

I have been stalking this board all day but have been too busy at work to reply. I will stalk more tomorrow. Hopefully I won't be as busy and be able to reply.

Today marks 1 mth for us till we leave. We work 1/2 day on 4/19th and will start out for FL around 2pm. I'm sooooo excited.

:cheer2: YIPPEE!!! Tomorrow is our 1 month countdown!! Emily's class is having a Father's breakfast that morning, then we'll take her out of school after that and head over to Disney!!! We'll spend the day at WDW, dinner at Cape May Cafe, maybe fireworks at EPCOT and then crash at the Embassy Suites near the airport. That's the plan, and hopefully it will work that way!!!

Ok, I've been lurking since the thread started. I think I may have checked in once b4 - can't remember it's been a while. Anywhoo...

I'm putting out a call for any 18-22 yr olds that will be joining us. DH and I are travelling with our 5 yo DD, and my 19 yo DS (who has just broken up with his girlfriend (i'm doing the happy dance but don't tell him!)
i am afraid that he may be bored spending so much time with DH, DD and I.

I am in major cruise mode...haven't started putting things in suitcases, but definitely piling stuff in the spare room as I think of it. Also trying to lose 5 lbs before we leave - can we say chocolate withdrawal:rolleyes1

Anyone going to "tan" before you go? DS suggested it, and thought it might not be a bad idea - he went to Mexico 2 years ago and got badly burned snorkelling in February!

Guess I'll call it a night!
