Welcome caniac! There are a few others here with 5 year olds - they'll all have to meet up sometime. I bet they'd all have a great time together.

One more month! One more month! :cool1: Let's see, one month from today we'll be on our way to the airport.I'll probably be nervous & excited all at the same time. ;) Don't know how I'm going to get any sleep on the 19th. :yay:

We are taking DSs out of school for a week as well. Feeling slightly guilty as one son has been sick a bit recently  and missed 7 days last marking period.

You know I really can't figure out how do copy things on this board so maybe someone can add me to the list:

New Hampshire-ctc917 -Cheryl

We are also taking our son out of school for a few days to arrive early in Fl and visit WDW..

I have a question for everyone? Someone asked this on the main board and I'm interested in hearing the answer from my fellow cruisers...How much cash money do you bring? And what do you pay in cash? Charge? Do they cash Travelers checks on board? (I would think they do, am I right) And is it really easy to do this or a pain in the neck?

Thanks

Cheryl

Wow! Look at all the NH people! For such a small state, we sure have lots of you on our cruise! Surely DH and I aren't the furthest west, are we?

I'm taking DS5&3 out of preschool for the week, too (5 days for Hudson, 2 days for Lennon). It was a huge worry for me at the time of booking, but now I don't even think about it (or letting my work sit for a week!) because I'm so excited about the cruise! :woohoo:

BTW, does anyone know how soon they'll start assigning GTY rooms? I'm checking online almost every day, although I think it's a bit early. Maybe two weeks out or so? I'm just too curious to find out exactly where we'll be!

We have spring break next week too, but we also get out in late May. So, we'll be taking Emily out of school for the week too, but she's only in preschool!!! :thumbsup2

We don't bring a lot of cash at all! We bring some singles for tips for room service and postage on Castaway Cay. We do bring some other cash, just to have it at the ports, but not a lot. Plus, some cash for tips to the porters. Other than that, we charge all of our tips, etc and just pay it when we get home (and earn those AMEX points)!!!

I was thinking the same thing, lots of New Hampshire represented!!!

I would say that it'll probably be in the next couple of weeks, but I'm sure by the time that documents arrive, which is usually about 2 weeks out.

Thanks, Amy! Two weeks is what I thought I had read on the main board awhile back, but I couldn't remember. So are you going to charge Captain Marvin's, too? I saw they add 5% for credit cards, so I was thinking we would just pay cash for that. Do we tip on excursions, too?

We'll probably bring cash for that too, so we don't have to pay the 5%. And yes, we'll bring a tip too.

Utah - mickymania (Wendy & Vallen)

On the money question, we brought quite a bit of cash last cruise and ended up having to stand in line at guest services to pay some of our expenses. This time we'll be bringing enough cash for tips and shore excursions, and...maybe a little port shopping too! Other than that we love to use our AmExp. We use it for all of our normal day-to-day expenses and are using the miles to fly to Florida!!!!

I think that we win the award for bad parents (according to my children's teachers). We are going to WDW over our spring break, right before the cruise and then keeping the kids out of school for another week. When we booked the cruise, we didn't have any kids in high school and didn't realize what we were doing. Oh well.....hmmmmmm I think that I would rather be on the cruise!!! 28 days for us:banana:

I have a question about semi-formal night for all those who have been on a longer cruise........what do the women wear? I was thinking a nice skirt and shirt...I'm trying to not go shopping anymore but I don't know if I have enough.

Wendy

You will be perfectly fine in a nice skirt. You'll see ALL kinds of things on formal/semi-formal nights. MOST will probably be in exactly what you're describing, some will not be dressed up at all, and some will be dressed to the hilt! DH does have a tux, and will be bringing it, but he dresses it with Disney vests for a bit of fun. I like getting formal family pics, so I look forward to it. But, you can guarantee that right after dinner, I'll be changing back into my casual clothes. I can stand the dress up for a few hours, that's about it!!! :thumbsup2

You know when those documents arrive, we'll all be having a small party at home. :dance3: :woohoo: :cheer2: :woohoo:

Ok, fine, I'm stalking again - for a bit. I do some work, pause, stalk, work again. I just read someone's trip report, showing their first views of the ship, and I admit it, I got goosebumps. I'm gonna be a mess on 4/21. :rotfl:

What's funny is that I have been on 4 DCL cruises over the years, and I still get chills when we come over that bridge and see the ship there!!! It just makes me all giddy inside!! I can't imagine the feeling for those that have either never been before, or it's been a while!!!

Thanks for adding me to the list.

We are leaving on the 17th and I am no where near finished getting ready but I'm usually the one running around at the last minute packing so maybe this time I start sooner, you guys are getting me motived to start my prepacking at least..

Cheryl

I'm trying not to even think about that part. :sad2:

I am trying to convince DW that we need to rebook before we leave the ship so that this can be avoided. But, the responsible adult in me knows that it is probably not possible. I remember the feeling all to well from our last cruise.
