April 19, 2008 - Western - VERY Early Roll Call - Anyone??!!

Cheryl,
check your school calendar...
our district has Friday off.[/QUOT

no we are not:mad: I am probably just going to bite the bullet and fly out early on Friday I am going to talk to my husband and see what he thinks
because this would be one more day he has to take off too.

Thanks Cheryl! This is our first cruise on any ship.I am sort of worried about motion sickness. It would be terrible if one of us was sick for the whole cruise knowing that we could have just gone to the world instead! We booked our flight with Airtran just yesterday. It is costing just under 1000 for all of us.

Hi!! When I took my 1st cruise I was a nervous wreck about getting seasick:sick:, I thought If anyone could get sick it would be me, however I have never been:cool1:

To this day I always bring ginger pills (they calm the stomach), there is wrist bands that you wear on your wrists that help you with motion, and the last thing is the patch that your dr.
can give you for motion as well. I have never used any of these, but I always bring them just incase and we have about 8 or 9 cruises under our belt. I have been on 3 other cruise companies and I feel they do everything in there power to give you smooth sailings the ships have stablizers as well, and knowing disney they probably have the best:goodvibes .

I think you did ok with the flight, it will probably go up in price soon. are you flying in the day before??? We are waiting for southwest to open up since the airport is only 15 minutes away it doesn't pay for us to fly out of jfk or lga.

Last April was our first cruise and this will be our second.
We had 2 days of high seas. (one was friday night, so it wasn't that bad)
Both my DW and DMIL wore the bands and had success with them.
We got them at CVS.

We cruised last Nov. with Disney. Just a 3 day and most of the time it was okay. On the final night we were headed back and about 100:00 pm. the seas got rough and it was rockin and rolling. We all hit the bed pretty quickly and everyone made it without getting sick.

A few years back we Cruise RCL in May (closer to the same time as this cruise) and we never could feel the boat moving at all. I don't know if the seasons have anything to do with it but hopefully the seas will be more calm than the fall.

I'm sure more frequent cruisers will be able to give more feedback on this. My wife always took the non drowsy bonine (she gets sick really easy) and seemed to do fine.

Do you have to get off the plane for the connection?

Yes, I believe I do, they are two different flight numbers. Here's the info.:

April 26, 2008, Flight 862
Departing Orlando, FL (MCO) at 5:59 PM
Arriving Atlanta, GA (ATL) at 7:28 PM
--- Connecting To ---
April 26, 2008, Flight 571
Departing Atlanta, GA (ATL) at 9:10 PM
Arriving Newburgh, NY (SWF) at 11:31 PM

Not too bad and it's close to home!

Welcome everyone! Looks like I have some additions to the spreadsheet. I'll do that today and repost! :goodvibes

I'm a newbie too - I don't know what I would do without this thread!!!! The seasoned cruisers have ALL the answers!

Hey Joan, I tried to update my info on the spread sheet, but couldn't get it to do anything. I am registered, and it does go to a page that looks like I can change, but I can't. :confused3 Could you point me in the right direction?
Thanx, Dave

Dave, I wish I could! This is new to me as well. I don't see where the spreadsheet is locked or anything. The only thing I can think of is you can PM me your email address and I can add you as a collaborator or you can just PM me your changes and I will gladly update :)

As of now...we're sticking w/driving. Leaving Wed, will be there thursday afternoon, then heading home from port and will be home Sunday late afternoon. I'm ok w/driving as long as it's a 10 day+ vacation. The flights are crazy. I put leaving Thursday back sat or sunday and all flights coming home w/399/per person this was both out of MCO and TPA!! So that would be 1200 just to get us home..not to mention getting down there.

OMG!

Those are the same fares that I paid last year.

Hmmm I hope something comes up... cheaper...

We are going on the assumption that they won't and are planning on driving...but if they do, great, we'll book. Either way, we're planning on arriving on Thursday..so we can spend Friday at WDW.

FINALLY uploaded our pirate pic from April 07 cruise.

I had crew members telling me 'great costume' and even had a 13ish year old boy come up to me for my autograph in his book.
(I couldn't, I had to tell him that I was just a passenger like him)

So.... look for me to be in the SAME costume again this cruise.

Heck, I have to get my moneys worth our of it.

Looks like we will be joining you also.

Me (Karen), my daughter Jessica, my sister Donna, and my Godson Joey.

It will be Joey's first cruise - he'll be 7 and our 3rd cruise.

Can't wait to explore the Western Caribbean!
