April 19, 2008 - Western - VERY Early Roll Call - Anyone??!!

For all of you NY's, prices have dropped on Airtran out of Westchester and Stewart. $99 each way. Check it out.:thumbsup2
Ant

THANKS:thumbsup2

I have been keeping my eyes open for flights. Unfortunately out of LGA they only have one non-stop flight on the 19th and none on the 18th and 26. Still holding out for Jet Blue and Southwest. Getting a little nervous on the price though. Don't want to pay $299 each way per person. My husband will have a fit.

We just have to keep our eyes open. Check several times a day if possible. It will definately go down. I have faith.:wizard:
Our flying days are the 18 and the 26th. Is that when everybody else is going also?

I have not checked in for while it has been a very busy summer.

We just purchased our airfare today and confirmed our rooms at the Country Inn and Suites.
I had been watching flights for a while since it is our whole states school vacation prices were crazy. Delta wanted $1,000 non stop from Bos to Mco.
Finally some Airtran rates came out and we got our tickets.

There are 15 in our group. I will send the info so it can be put on the spreadsheet.

Hope everyone had a great summer. Now I will have to go back and read all the posts I have missed.

We are going to fly the 17 - 26. I noticed a big price difference when you leave Wednesday or Thursday. So we might actually leave the 16th and stay with family in Florida. The same if you leave Sun. as opposed to Saturday. Anyone else seeing that? I also haven't seen any prices under $200 nonstop for the return, have you?

Which airline and airport in New York are you seeing these prices for?

Well, we bit the bullet. We booked flights today. I kind of feel damned if I do, damned if I don't. If I didn't book I just knew the prices would go up and of course if I did book I just knew the prices would go down. My mom is a travel agent and we talked about it and we decided to go for it.

We are going on the 18th out of Stewart nonstop for $99 and returning on the 26th in the late evening with one stop in Atlanta (1 hour layover) for $159 (I think) on Airtran. It was 850ish roundtrip for the 3 of us. Of course DCL quoted us over 450 per person to use their booked air....SOOOO we did save money, right.... I could look at it that way, right? :confused3 Oh well, like I said...damned if you do, damned if you don't. Honestly, I am sure the prices are going to go down...they always do....but I couldn't take the chance.:confused3

Newark to Orlando on Airtran for those same dates was like 220 dollars cheaper...but when you figure in parking for a week at Newark(we take a cab from home in New Windsor), tolls, gas and time the savings in money is next to nothing.

Oh well...It is done.
Keep me posted on what everyone else is doing.
Last thing to do...rent a car. Oh yeah...and pay for cruise.
Michelle

We are going to be changing our reservations to this cruise, from the 3/8 Western. I was surprised to see it will cost me less on this one.

This will be our 3rd DCL, we have been on Eastern in 04, 10 night southern last year. DH, myself and 2 DS's one will be 1 on the cruise and the other 6.5.

OK, call me a total geek, but i have been monitoring how our cruise has been filling up...
as of this morning, there were 20 staterooms available in Cats. 11-9
(Cat 12 wasn't available at all)
Cat 11: 8 rooms to choose from
Cat 10: 8 rooms to choose from
Cat 9: 4 rooms to choose from
Cats. 8-4 were only available GTY
i'm not quite sure what importance this information has...

We are all switched. We are in a GTY 5. It will be...

DH Steve (37)
Me Stacy (32)
DS Tyler (6)
DS Brady (1...at time of sailing)

As of this point, we're going to drive down leaving Wednesday am. It may all change once Jet Blue opens up their flights, though. Not sure where we are going to stay on Thurs/Fri pm. Does anyone know what hotels let you park and fly by the airport?? I seem to remember others talking about it.

We are 2nd seating, of course wait listed for 1st. On our first cruise this happened and we ended up 2nd.

Glad to see you coming with us.

Don't count on any cheap flights from Jet Blue. When they opened the schedule for Feb. school vacation is started at $819.00 round trip from Bos to Orlando for the non stop flights.

The Radisson and the Country Inn both in Port Canaveral let you park there while you are on the cruise. The Radisson had a free shuttle and the Country Inn the shuttle was $3 or $4 per person. The Residence Inn is also nice.

First dinning - Call often to see if 1st opens up sometimes they don't always go by the waitlist. If you don't get it before you leave check the first thing when you get on board. They might be able to change it for you then.

I just booked air yesterday on air trans for $260 pp rt. Sure beats the $450- $600 that the other airlines are charging.
DD says she now want to do the 3 d instead of the 7d so she can spend 5 days in WDW. We've got a secret porthole so if we switch cruises hopefully someone from these boards may be lucky

Does anybody know when the reservations open up for Castaway Club members? I think it's 90 days out, but I'm not sure specifically on what day that is. I know I've seen a web page out there that can determine it for you, but I lost the link. :sad2:

105 days for Suites and guest with romance pkg Jan. 5, 2008
90 days Castaway Club members which would be Jan. 20, 2008
75 days ahead online booking for everyone Feb. 4, 2008

Wow..we are a quiet group aren't we?

Hey NY Metro area...Airtran has a decent deal out of Newark and White Plains...a tad bit less than we paid @ 250 for travel 4/18-26...and at one point it was under 200 rt.

Some suggestions...My mom is a TA..so I have a bit of industry experience. What we see on the web isn't always what TA's see...and my experience is that I sometimes see something cheaper than what see can see at her computer ..and what Airtran puts out on their web is sometimes different than what expedia puts out. It definately pays to compare all websites.

Another site I use is www.kayak.com

Good luck to all. Like I said, I bit the bullet this weekend @ 250 rt, but I gotta put it to rest. I keep checking and there ain't nothin' I can do about it now right...so why put myself through this? :confused3 I am truly a sucker...I guess misery loves company, huh?

We are off to a surprise WDW getaway tomorrow evening. 4 nights 5 days and we have kept it a surprise from our daughter. We aren't telling her until we drive into airport (if I can get carpacked before she is home from school) or at the very least, as we pack the car! Only disappointment...HSM Pep Rally is in Rehab for HSM2. I can't believe we missed it by less than a week. Totally stinks...oh well, will have to plan another trip back to the world..maybe squeeze it into our pre-cruise day in Florida! :woohoo:

Talk to you all soon.
Michelle

Have a great trip:wizard:

I'm still stressing about my airfare. I subscribed to a Jet Blue thread were most of us are waiting for April flights

:surfweb: pixiedust:

I called Jet Blue and they confirmed April reservations would not be out until October (I don't know if I can wait :scared: ).

Michelle, have a great time - tell us all about it when you return!

Thanks for the link to Kayak.com. Found it very helpful and simple to use. Much less fluff than the big boys.
