Applying used tickets to annual pass

When my daughter was there in July 2020 and they weren't selling annual passes, she was told by guest services that when they start selling them again, she can apply the value of those tickets she used for that trip to an annual pass.

Has anyone had real world experience doing this?

We had a report of someone trying that and being told no. It could be YMMV so if it’s something she wants there is no reason she shouldn’t try to do it.

Did they retroactively start your AP on the date you used the old ticket, or give you a whole year? If the latter, that was a rare good deal from them these days, :)

You shouldn’t have as issue as long as your ticket was not used during a block out period of the AP you want. This was allowed in the past, but it appears that Disney has changed its policy.

Great question! If it's retroactive, her pass would have already expired lol.
If she first used it in July 2021 and they made the start date retroactive the AP would be good until July 2022.

ETA: This is what I think will be done.

Actually, I take this back. I didn’t read carefully and did not realize the ticket is from July. I am less optimistic, but certainly worth a try. I’ve heard mixed results with this scenario.

Has anyone done this over the phone or by emailing or heard of someone else doing this over the phone by chance? We have a note on file and a reference number to do this for my kids and husband, but so far I've only seen success doing it in person at guest services.

Hmmm. This thread has different info that I was previously told. We have 4 day tickets with park reservations during Sept 30- Oct 4 including both weekend days. My plan was to use the 4 day ticket to enter parks Fri-Sun 9/30-10/2 then on 10/3 or 10/4, upgrade to the FL resident weekday only pass. Has that changed? Are people now reporting that if I use it that weekend, that I cannot then upgrade it to a pass that blocks out weekends?
