I am thinking about a 10 day trip to Disney World and I am strongly concidering AP's or Premimum AP's. If I purchase these online and get my voucher will I get notified of all the special AP discounts and stuff like that when they come out of will I have to Activate my AP first? Also does anybody know if there are AP discounts for Disney Cruise Line?

You probably will not get any notification. Activation doesn't change that.

If your buying an AP for a room discount, you should wait until you have an AP ressie before you buy the AP. No sense buying the AP if there is no discount.

I don't believe so.

I am not sure if I am going to use the AP for AP room rates or not? I am either concidering that or concidering renting DVC points. I thought that I might be able to justify the AP buy purchasing a Disney Dineing Club Card and getting that discount on all my food. That 20% could make a big difference in what I spend on food for 10 days. Not to mention all the other discounts too ( but they are not as appealing because I am an AAA member too).

As far as being notified of specials and stuff I thought there was a place on the Disney World website that AP holders could log into and view current special offers? I guess that's what I meant by notification.

Thanks :)

Anybody elese have opinions on AP vs. AAA for discounts? Anyone else have recomendations on what to do here?

I have had an AP before and was able to go on the website and pull up the part that you are talking about---where there are deals and such for AP holders. I also have already ordered my AP for our upcoming summer trip. When I went on before I had to put in a sequence of letters and numbers, which included the date it was activated, from the back of my ticket to get to that part of the site. My voucher for my new AP does not have that sequence of numbers on it. Hope this answers your question.

This may help a little,
For rooms, annual pass discounts are better than AAA, but neither is guaranteed.
Foe the DDE, you said all your food, but it is not good at all restaurants.
To access the Annual Passholder site, you need to have the numbers off the back of an activated pass, not a voucher.

The other discounts for AP include 10% of purchases at World of Disney store, Ghiradellis, Arribas, Basin and a few other stores at Downtown Disney, 10-15 % off special backstage tours, 10% of some restaurants for lunch only.
There are not too many discounts at WDW with AAA beyond the room and tickets-maybe a few restaurants.

I think mousesavers has a good break down of what the ezact discounts may be.

Good Luck!
