AP rate room availability question

How soon do AP rates usually sell out once codes are announced? I'm thinking of getting an AP to help with the cost of my October trip, but if the rooms sell out quickly I might be stuck with an AP and no cheap room. Any opinions?

You don't need to buy the AP before you make the reservation, so don't buy it unless you get the AP rate reservation. You only need it at check-in.

It depends on occupancy levels for how fast they sellout or if they sellout. They are often available for some time. People have also posted that they keep calling back and are able to get the rate when they couldn't at first. I think they are constantly adjusting how many rooms are available for the rate plus there are cancellations.

Thanks, Debbie! Let me also ask, do you need an activated AP at check-in, or is the voucher enough? We usually check in before heading to the parks, and I'd like to activiate the AP at guest relations.

The AP has to be active. They say they don't accept the vouchers. If you are flying into Orlando, you can purchase an AP at the Disney Store in the airport before leaving for WDW. That's what we usually do.

I stayed at the CBR and the BWI on an AP rate and neither resort asked to see my pass. I did ask them if they needed to see it, and the CM who checked me in at each resort told me that it wasn't neccessary.

I think it really depends on who checks you in. Some people have been asked, some haven't. I think the resorts will let you check in using a voucher, but request that you show the AP when you have it activated.
