AP - Add dining plan?

Is there a way to add the dining plan? I reserved a room with the AP rate, I am the only AP in the family. We will purchase 2 Magic Your Way (hopefully plus dining) tickets for 5 days for dh and dd and I will have the AP ticket. Can I somehow add on 5 days of dining to my AP ticket? If so, how?

The Magic Your Way with Dining package always requires admission purchase. You can purchase just a one day pass if you wish, and you can even apply that to the purchase of a new AP sometime in the future, but there is no way to do a non-DVC reservation with the Dining Plan without purchasing admission.

Also, keep in mind that dining isn't added to your admission ticket -- it is part of your hotel reservation.

You cannot add the Dining Plan to an AP discount room-only reservation. You have to purchase a Magic Your Way package which includes room and tickets for everyone in your party and everyone must be on the same package. You can book the package with 1-day base tickets for all, then upgrade the your husband and child's ticket at the resort but you will lose your AP discount.

You can add Disney Dining Experience to your annual pass. This gives you a 20% at most Disney places to eat. You might be better off using it.

You will also lose the AP rate on your room. I'm an AP holder and have done the DDP three times in the last 1 1/2 years. You have to pay rack rate for the room, pay for dining for each night of your stay, and then buy at least a one day MYW ticket for everyone in the room. When you get to WDW you can save your one day ticket for a future visit (or to renew your AP later), use your AP for park admission, and upgrade your family's one day tickets to whatever they need. Guest services at your resort can do this for you.

ok - thanks for the info. Last year we didn't do the dining plan and spent a lot on food. We don't even eat that much but with 3 kids it really adds up. I have to do the math again but for us, it is easier just being on the plan so we can relax and not worry about it.
