I desperatly need some help from those of you who have both MSWord and WordPerfect (or anyone who can download a document in Wordperfect format and change it to MSWord).

My online SOC 201 proffesor told me he couldn't accept my term paper unless it was in MSWord format.. Gee.. you think he would have said something about it BEFORE I started writting that 8 page paper.... :rolleyes2

Is there anyone out there who can help me? TIA!!

Do you have Word as well as WordPerfect on your computer?

Nope just WordPerfect and the obligatory Word Pad.... :guilty: I was just hoping someone would have both , and they would be kind enough to let me email it to them to convert to MSWord....Or I'll have to go buy it.....

I have MS Office at work- PM me if you would like me to format it real quick. :)

Sorry--got busy for a minute and lost your reply. You can email it to me, if you like. Shoot me a pm.
:teeth:

If WordPerfect can't save the file in MSWord format (and it probably can) it almost certainally can save it as a RTF file. Check with your professor and see if he'll accept a RTF file.

I've tried saving it to Word, but it converts it to Word Pad which jumbles it up and messes my format up entirely.

I sent you a PM with my work email- did you want to send it?

Did you try it this way?

With your document open, click "File" and "Save As". Then click the drop down arrow on the "Save File as Type" line. Scroll up or down until you find something like "MS Word for Windows 2.0" (I have a very old copy of WordPerfect - yours probably has newer Word versions available in the list) and select that. Then click the OK or Save button.

Good luck!

I had the same problem when my grad school professor for an online class said word only. The wordperfect wouldn't format it to word correctly. I ended up using my parents word cd to install.

My office converted from WordPerfect to Word about a year and a half ago. Word will open Wordperfect files, but the formatting gets all messed up.

Even if you use the "save as" option, the formating still might not convert correctly. I would save it as a Word file and go to the school's computer lab (they should have Word) to check the formatting. Or, your local library might have a computer lab you could use.

If you try to open a Word file on a computer that doesn't have it, Windows will send it to Wordpad.

Thanks Everyone! :thumbsup2 I spent about 3 hours this morning downloading and installing Office suite... I converted my file over to Word, and despite a little bit of font issues, everything is alright... This will probably be the ONLY time I use this new software too...
