Anyone use Bare Minerals Escentuals products?

I've been using it daily for 3 months, I'm getting low on the the foundation color I use (Fairly Light) and getting low on Mineral Veil. I still have lots of the warmth left, and I'll use the Light foundation in the spring/summer as I get what little tan I can, probably mixing it with the Fairly Light.

This was my pattern exactly, I've used it a year. Here's what I did, and a hint for everyone. I probably got it from this board.

Only peel off a small part of the sticker that covers the holes. This helps you control how much powder comes out.

Make sure you put a small amount of powder in the lid, and then dip your brush in the lid.

When I bought a new mineral veil, I forgot to just peel off some of the sticker, so I put some of it into the smaller "starter" container so I won't use as much.

Also, I have very fair skin. I use a tiny bit of warmth, on the apples of my cheeks, forehead, chin, and neck (to help it blend). I use only the "dust" on the lid. I think the starter size of warmth will last 10 years for me. And, I don't use any blush, it looks pretty natural.

Another hint that a demonstrator at Ulta told me if you need extra coverage is to just dampen the brush with water (just barely damp and then use a paper towel to get more water off, so it's just very barely damp). Use the damp brush to pick up a bit of the BE and dot it on the places you need more coverage. After it's totally dry (which should be almost right away since it should be barely damp), buff it with a dry brush and then put your BE on top.

Make sure it's really lightly damp! For me, this is were it started to look cakey. I like the idea of them drying the brush before you dip it! Thanks!

I got my BareMinerals in the mail yesterday and couldn't wait to try it this morning. I have to say I'm a little disappointed. It didn't cover blemishes as well as I hoped and it looks kinda cakey. I don't totally hate it, but I was hoping I'd like it more.

I had the same problems. I use Hope in a Jar face cream by Philosophy and love it (have tried many). I put on cream prior to applying makeup. I use bisque on areas to conceal. You may want to apply mineral veil next or straight to your foundation.

Here is the biggie: BUFF BUFF BUFF - honest! Just keep on buffing with that brush and it will not look cakey.

I just finished watching the DVD and applied:

1. bareVitamins
2. Mineral veil w/kabuki brush
3. Medium foundation w/concealer brush
4. Medium foundation w/kabuki brush
5. Warmth w/kabuki brush

I buffed until I got the look I wanted. I LOVE BE
It looks so soft and natural. I won't need blush either, lucky thing because now I want to try the eye & lip products and I don't want to break the bank!

Do you buff after each "layer" or when you're complete? By buff, I assume you mean just swich (is that a word?) the brush around your face over and over again???

I ordered the 4 piece set from QVC based on the recommendations of my dis family! Hopefully, it will arrive before we leave!

I just started using Hope in a Jar and I love it too. I have never used a cream like it. It's amazing the way it glides on, it absorbs right in but leaves your skin so soft and smooth without a trace of oiliness.
I was going to put it on under the BE but since I'll be turning in soon, I didn't want to waste it!! I'll wait till I wash and put it on at bedtime. It's WAY too expensive to use twice in one night

I buffed each layer. I actually buffed it more than I thought I should since that tip came up often on this thread. I proceeded step by step and by the time I was finished, I loved it.
I can tell this is going to be fun to experiment with.
Post after you try it and let us know how you like it. I love reading about this!

That almost sounds like the foundation you use is a shade off if the bisque alone was getting you compliments.

The great thing about BE is that you can combine products and colors to find a share or look that works for your skin tone.

When they first came out with Clear Radience I thought, oh my another layer of stuff on my face. Well, rather than put on a new layer I just mixed a bit with warmth and put it on together. Well a few months, later BE was marketing a product that was just that, a combination of clear radience and warmth. Now it is still more warmth than I like so I still mix my own.

I have NEVER been a makeup junkie but I LOVE this stuff and I am constantly experimenting with it.

Yes, I did use the brush that came with the kit and I agree with everything you said about the look being very natural. However, for me it just did not last all day and I do not have time to reapply and when I load the brush if I load too much some of it flakes on my skin under my eyes and if I load too little I get no result-does nothing. And yes, I load the brush and swirl in the cap and then tap as I was taught by the Bare Essentials Rep. I realize that it is probably just a user thing and I may give it another try.

If you get a chance to try purity made simple facial cleanser, do it! I can't believe these products are so different but they really are!

I do use Purity!!! Isn't it amazing?

My daughter had given me a philosophy kit and it included a small bottle of purity. I loved it so much that I added a large bottle to my Sephora order to get free S&H when I bought my BE kit!!!

I can't believe that just a nickel sized puddle can clean your face, including MASCARA, so thoroughly and gently. NO STING EITHER!

I have to say that purity & hope in a jar are the best skin products I have ever used. I don't think I'll ever use anything else.

Now, using BE over philosophy is the icing on the cake!

I love their portable brush. If I'm going to be out & about all day and have dinner out in the evening - say from 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. - I re-touch with the portable brush. It's about half the size of their regular brushes and it comes with a cap. In the morning I just dip it in my foundation screw on the top, and drop it in my purse. Whenever I'm ready to re-apply, I take of the top, tap it on the side of the sink in the restroom and buff my face. It works perfectly for me.

I'm addicted to this stuff. I've been using it now for about 2 yrs. I first phoned BM and requested FREE - YES, FREE samples. They sent me 4 items of my choosing. I tried #2, #3, warmth and glee. You have to pay for the S&H which was like $3.00 - but it was worth every, single penny. (When I ordered the samples I ended up using one of my old blush brushes.) After I knew the product worked for me and which colors I wanted, I orderd the kit that contained most of the items I needed.

I tried concealing before putting on the foundation, which worked much better, but the more I buffed the less it seemed to conceal. The extra buffing did help a lot to get rid of the cakey look though. I think I'm going to try this order next:

1) mineral veil
2) conceal
3) foundation
4) conceal again
5) warmth
6) mineral veil again

I'll be in the bathroom all day.

I have oily skin and larger pores so I use a layer of MV first, then foundation (Fairly Light), then conceal with the Light Foundation and finish off with another layer of MV. It seems to work pretty well, moreso than starting off with just the foundation.

I really want to try the Bisque but haven't purchased any just yet. I see that Summer Bisque comes in a 2.5g size but regular Bisque only seems to come in a .85g size. Does anyone know why? Of course, I'd rather have the larger size but I don't know if Summer Bisque is what I'm looking for.

I also grabbed my kabuki brush on the day ds had his senior pictures taken, he had a red face, and had a few breakouts - when we got there he asked about them airbrushing them, basically, not really, so I opened up my purse took out the brush, and "rubbed" and the photographer was amazed as the red disappeared, and the breakouts were not noticable!!

I can't believe you guys are talking about this! I started using BM about a year ago, and love it most of the time, but once a month or so I get this weird dry yet oily skin and large looking pores, so I wouldn't use it then. All the tips here give me so much hope...thanks soo soo much!! I can't wait to try them!

Bisque is the original that was an eyeshadow until they notice that it was outselling all other eyeshadow and the customer said they were using it asa concealor. Summer Bisque came later and is for skin tones with more golden undertones. Honey Bisque is the newest to the line and I think it is for darker skin tones.

They should all be available in the same sizes, they may just be out of stock.

I looked up the ingredients in Sheer Cover and ALL the products have what your are allerigic to! The Methylparaben is in the foundation,Propylparaben is in the concealer, Methylparaben and Propylparaben are both in the finishing powder,ALL of these are in the Purifying Cleanser Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben, Butylparaben and last but not least the Nourishing Moisturizer SPF 15 has Methylparaben, Propylparaben in it.

You should skip Sheer Cover!!
