Anyone use Bare Minerals Escentuals products?

As far concealing, it's true you need to use a different product, I use the Beauti-Control Secret Agent Coverup but I think you could easily find something over the counter for a coverup. What I like about it is there are no lines on the jaw line or neck and you just blend it with a brush and also what makes it look so natural is the bronzing product which adds color to my pale skin. I always looked like a ghost before this product, can't say enough about, also great for my sensitive skin!!

I love my BM's!! During the summer when my face has a tendancy to be more tan I usually don't wear foundation, only mineral veil. Well, I ran out and couldn't get to the mall to the BE's Boutique for a few weeks so I bought something at Walmart that I used years earlier before BM's and my face itched so bad and I really noticed the fragrance in the powder. YUK! I couldn't wait to get my Mineral Veil. I will never use anything else. I am now trying the tinted MV. I think it might be a little too dark although they say it does not give color, I do not tend to agree. I see a difference so I might try mixing the two.

One thing I do not care for is the eye brow kit. The idea is great and the gel works fine. However, the powder tends to disapear and not stay like a pencil. I also find the powde application a bit messy because the brush just does not hold onto the powder all that well. If you don't put enough on the brush you won't do any good and if you put too much some of it will end up dropping down.

Wow, I just love the eye brow kit!!! I don't have a lot of brows left and this makes what I do have look so natural, not drawn in like with the pencil. Do you use the brush that came in the kit?

I also found that using the right brush for concealing makes all the difference in the world. I didn't think my BM concealed well, either, until a fellow user told me I needed to try the concealer brush. She was right--it's a little miracle worker!!

What is the best kit to start? I saw a commercial on TV but it didn't say what was included in the kit. Please advise. Thanks!

Sorry - I haven't read the whole thread so I don't know if this has been mentioned or not. I need good coverage for my acne too - I use Bisque to spot conceal, then put on the foundation, then put on Bisque again for more spot concealing. This gives great coverage.

Arie, I only use the foundation as concealer, nothing additional. But I use the Bare Escentuals Concealer Brush, which makes all the difference in the world. You can get them off of ebay--often packaged with Bisque--much more cheaply than buying direct.

rie'smom ~ I like the starter kit I just got from Sephora. http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P116619&categoryId=RP&shouldPaginate= I use everything in it, except for the darker foundation, which I'm sure I will use when I get a little more color on my face from the sun. I spent $15 more and got the free shipping. I also used code WISH2 and got a free sample of lotion (on top of the 3 free samples they give you with your order).

It is all in the way you use the minerals....try using a dusting of mineral veil before putting on the foundation. This tip seems to really help minimize pores.

This is a great tip - also, if you use the brush that has two sides - one side about a 1/2 inch long and angled bristles, the other side is really, really short and angled, you get fabulous coverage. Just use mineral veil, then spot cover with the really short side of the angled brush, then use the 1/2 inch size brush (maybe intended for eye application) to dust on your foundation - follow with another application of mineral veil. If you still need extra coverage use the really, really short side of the two-sided brush to spot cover, (before your second application of mineral veil). This works phenomenally for me! I  this stuff.
Hope this helps those of you who need a little extra coverage.

The brush is called the Bare Escentuals Double Ended Shaping Brush and it is intended for the eyes. Found a picture of it on ebay. Takes a tensy bit of extra time to do it this way, but looks fabulous! :teeth:

Can anyone tell me approximately how long the supplies in the starter kit on Sephora last you? :confused3 I am very tempted to start using this product, however I don't think I currently spend that much on makeup in a year. I think I am too much of a cheapskate if I will have to replenish at that price often.

Both of the foundations from the kit lasted me a total of 5 months. I am sure you are probably already aware that these are smaller sizes than you get when you buy them individually. After almost 6 months I am still using the warmth (I have a ton of that left) and mineral veil (a lot left but not as much as the warmth).

Thanks for the feedback Sandy!! I went ahead and ordered the largest kit from BE. I ordered kit for light skin-hope it's right.

I'm a believer!! (and like someone else posted I think it was because of the Dis!!) I have 'age' type spots, so I do use the bisque concealer, or I do spot on the regular fondation - then warmth it helps even out the skin tones!!

I tried mine in person at an Ulta Store - you may get the ads in the Sunday paper, here's the website there is a feature on minerals!! (and a store finder too!!)

http://www.ulta.com/control/main;jsessionid=g2dmiig7msa.uprod2

The brushes in that kit I have - I had to buy the short squat one (called kubuki not sure spelling!) now I notice its in the kits!! It cost me $28!! The fondations in this kit are smaller, but like posted, you just make sure you tap in the lid swirl etc, you really dont use that much, and so they last - and you get great coverage!!

I've been using it daily for 3 months, I'm getting low on the the foundation color I use (Fairly Light) and getting low on Mineral Veil. I still have lots of the warmth left, and I'll use the Light foundation in the spring/summer as I get what little tan I can, probably mixing it with the Fairly Light.

I use the foundation as concealer, with the special concealer brush that came iwth my kit - it makes all the difference for me. I'd love to try the Bisque but haven't yet. I just ordered the full size of foundation and mineral veil so will have to wait a bit.

the starter jar of foundation is 2g, the full size jar is 9g, over 4 times larger, so it should last at least a year for me.

Kayla's Mom,

Since you have warmth in your kit, I assume you bought the medium/medium beige kit. Can you tell me how dark it is? I bought medium but I hope I don't need fairly light.

Thanks.

PS - Mine just came UPS!! I have to watch the DVD. :Pinkbounc

Don't give up yet. It does take some getting used to.

Try spot concealing first (a small amount right on the blemish) them buff in over the entire face. From what you are describing you aren't buffing enough if you have the cakey look.

It really does take some practice.

The president of BE is going to be on QVC next Monday 1/09 from 2/3 am EST and 3-4 pm EST. Try and catch the show (or record and watch later). She always gives many tips on application.
I agree.
My oldest DD had some problems at first too and said it didn't seem to cover and looked cakey.
After she got the hang of it, she realized she was using too much and was not buffing enough. Now she really likes it.

Another hint that a demonstrator at Ulta told me if you need extra coverage is to just dampen the brush with water (just barely damp and then use a paper towel to get more water off, so it's just very barely damp). Use the damp brush to pick up a bit of the BE and dot it on the places you need more coverage. After it's totally dry (which should be almost right away since it should be barely damp), buff it with a dry brush and then put your BE on top.

Alswo, we got Warmth in our kits and DD and I have the lightest kits from Ulta (lighter than the ones you can get thru the BE website).

I believe all the kits come with Warmth, regardless of the foundation shades. I really like it, but I need to use very very little of it, and sometimes add a peachy shade of blush as well. I can see how it will work nicely with darker skin tones too. The sales clerk who assisted me at Sephora was Hispanic/dark olive skin and was wearing it, looked great on her too.

Yes, I believe they all come with warmth too, I bought the light/fairly light kit. :flower:
