Anyone tile around a fireplace???

I've torn my old tile out and bought some Travertine I really like. Now I just have to put it in

Doesn't look too hard on the home make over shows but wondered if there are any tips or things I really need to know that will make it easier.

That's what we have on ours too... We love it! And although I didn't install it, my dad and DH did, I know it didn't take them long. Granted, my dad is extremely handy, so everything looks easy when he does it! Here's a picture of it, or maybe a link, sometimes it shows up as the picture, other times as a link...

Oh... forgot to add, the travertine is around the fireplace and across the front. But then we used ceramic tiles across the top of the hearth, they're the 12" tiles. The travertine is the 4" ones.

I've taken all the old tile off and trying to get the majority of the glue / adhesive off without removing the wall with it. Now I just need to decide on a pattern and get the stuff to put the tile back on the wall. On the DYI sites looks like the first row will be the hardest.

I got a couple of larger pieces that have color in them for the floor. I'm also going to make the area a little larger than it is now.

I have travertine around my fireplace too, but it was here when we bought the house.

We had it installed in other areas, and one thing our tiler told us, was that since it's a natural stone, they are often not of the same thickness. You have to compensate for the difference.
