Anyone on the Sept 26, 2004 Wonder??

Sooooo what does this mean for people flying in to Orlando on Sunday morning????? Do you think our flights will be cancelled?

:confused3

Sorry to place wrong ideas. No one said it will be a 3 day. Thinking out all the possibilities. (It's that I don't like 3 day that is why we booked 4 days).

Hi everyone! I just had a phone call from Lori at DCL. Our 4 night cruise has been changed to a 3 night departing on Monday.

Our Options: Cancel for 100% refund

Take 3 night with 40% refund on our fair

Reschedule to another date ~ if fair is higher
we pay the difference

Going to talk to DH in a moment, but I'm sure it will be the 3 night since he cannot change his vacation.

PS: I forgot to ask where we will sail from or go to.

Diana

Ok...I guess it's official. We're leaving on Monday instead of Sunday. How are you all feeling about being in a hotel Sat/Sun in the hurricane? What are you planning? Currently we have a room at the Raddison on Sat. night and nothing for Sunday.

Thoughts????

Theresa:confused:

I am a bit dissapointed, and will have to rearrange my dining/spa reservations. I think I am going to cancel the romance package since its only going to be a three night cruise. 40% sounds fair, but is that total price, or just cruise value, and also..travel agent commission??

I am also disappointed..but what can we do? This is my first cruise so it can only get better right? We are staying at the Hampton Inn Orlando Airport (the are a shuttle ride from the airport)...Saturday and Sunday night. They still have rooms for Sunday night and we paid $89 + tax for that. Anyone want to have a hotel party? We are still going. Then..if we have to go to Everglades..we can all rent a car..split the cost and get there EARLY!

We here are also so dissapointed. And added to that we have to worry about the huricane hitting us!!! I got the details from DCL: Leave Monday, depending on damage to Nassau and CC we may or may not go there ( won't know untill after the storm passes) Only a 3 day cruise. If we choose to go, a 40% refund. Or we can reschedule to a different date and no reschedule fee, but we do have to pay the difference if the fare is higher. Or we can just get all our money back.
I am starting to think that we were not meant to go on this cruise. We were original for Sep t 5, but Frances came calling. Got reschduled to Sept 26, now Jeanne comes calling!!!:(
Just can't win.
Oh well, I have to think about our options, because what if we have damage or clean up to do? I won't be able to enjoy trip!!!
The projected paths don't look too promising, but we can pray and hope...

I also recieved A call from DCL.She told me they are not going to bring the cruisers that are out now back in untill Mon.We are only A 3 night now, leaving on Mon.We are very dissapointed.I still have to call DCL back with my decision, but will probally leave on Mon. and get 40% back.Hope to see you all soon.

Just got off the phone with DCL. The 40% is off base cruise fare, which means no discount on the port charges, etc. For us it breaks down to :

Original cruise fare: $2500 ($1950 base and $660 port)
Discount of base: approx. $760
Total cost for 3 night: Approx: $1740 (for two cat 5 rooms).

I went ahead and cancelled the romance package because I feel we will be too rushed to enjoy it. Also, with the itinerary so uncertain I'm not sure when we want to do the massage, etc.

At first the CM told me that I would have to call my travel agency (Small World) to cancel that. I told him, (Nicely) that that was a lot to ask considering all the rearranging I have to do. He put me on hold and then came back and said he went ahead and cancelled it for us.

I am VERY dissapointed with Small World Travel. They have neither called or emailed me with any information. That is unacceptable! If it were not for you all I would not know half of what is going on.

I am so sad and worried but am going to make the best of this. As you all decide what you are going to do please post here. I have looked forward to meeting you all. I still hope we can meet and enjoy ourselves.

HUBBY is home! Got in at 130 this afternoon. Day's been a blurr... all this speculation about the cruise has just worn me out. I'm going to bed and will deal with this all tomorrow!

~Mary

Yea Mary! I am so HAPPY DH is home! Ummmm........BTW......did you tell DH my request to stash my son in his bag on his way thru Kuwait? LOL:hyper: Hope to see you soon .

So true...if it weren't for this board I'd be absolutely in the dark. Thanks for all the info. This is great.

We just got a room at the Days Inn Airport. We plan to make our final decision tomorrow.

I think I need to go to bed and stop worrying about it.

Say your prayers tonight!

:D

Lisa : I did ask if the plane was refueled by the AF and he said no, it was a chartered plane... also said that customs and security were REALLY HIGH even for a flight that was ALL military personnel! Hmmm... makes you wonder what they (past flyers)were trying to get out of there??

if it hasn't been posted, there is a blurb on the www.disneycruise.com site regarding changes.

I think we are going to make a try at going. I have to talk to my TA and get the following questions answered before I totally commit tho:

1) what exactly the 40% is off - if we stop at a port I'm good with paying port charges and taxes, but let's say we don't stop anywhere, do we get a portion of that money back?

2) what if I decide to go (providing that we leave from Port Canaveral) and then we end up leaving from Port Everglades, this cuts my already shortened 4 day from a 3 day to a 2 1/2 day, can I cancel out completely and get refunded 100% even if I decide this on Monday?

3) what if I decide to go and the roads are too dangerous to drive and I find this out on Monday and decide to cancel? will I get my 100%?

4) will there be any kind of room credit (not that this will be the deal breaker, but it would be nice to know)?

I think I will send her these questions and have her try to get answers to them in an email or via fax. Just to cover my butt.

What do you think? Am I being totally off-the-wall with this?

~Mary

Mary, I am so happy your husband is home! That is great news.

Your questions are excellent and I would love to know what you find out.

I did specifically address the port charge issues when I spoke with DCL tonight. They said that the 40% is for basic fares (not including tax and port charges). The CM stated that even if we don't dock anywhere there will be no further refund. Its 40% or cancel. I think if we don't dock at a port they should refund part of the port charges. Just my opinion.

If you get any definitive answers please post them. I hope we all meet up on Monday!

We will be staying at the Hard Rock Hotel on Saturday and Sunday. They suspended their regular cancellation policies so I can cancel tomorrow, etc. without penalty. They have a generator, too. Florida resident rates are about 150 per night.

Some of the hurricane tracks take Jeanne right through Boca Raton. That scares me. We'll see tomorrow.

Maureen I saw the track thru Boca and thought of you. Mother Nature: ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! Praying for all on the FL coast.
Mary, your questions are legit. Actually I had been wondering the same but you summarized far better than I could. If you find out please post on this thread.:D
I was wondering if we drive to another port, say Port Everglades, and then return to Port Canaveral, how do we get our cars back? I guess we could drive to Port Canaveral and then rent one way. I don't want to be bused because we usually are one of the first to arrive onboard and Disney's schedule would have us arriving later I imagine. I guess I'll wait and see.............

Congrats on hubby making it home safe, Mary!:p

I am also debating with the decision that we all have to make. But I am leaning to just cancel and schedule at a different time. The way the path is coming up the coast, it will affect Port Canaveral, and what if for Monday we have to go to PE (?). The biggest factor though is making sure that family and all is safe. We are in South Brevard, and we will be hit some way or another. After frances there was a lot of cleanup, and with debris still on the curb I expect more cleanup. It is going to be hard to enjoy cruise thinking about all the work that is waiting for us. I will most definitely re-schedule and will be looking at dates for next year! Very disappointed, but praying that Jeanne really turns north a little bit sooner than they predict.
For all of you that are going, enjoy this cruise, b/c I know that everyone has been looking so forward to it.
