Anyone on the Sept 26, 2004 Wonder??

Well...

We decied to try and stick it out. I made a reservation at Shades of Green (Military Resort on Disney Property) for Sunday night. We figured that being closer to port would help some. I spoke to my TA this morning - explained everything that I have read here. She said everything was dead on accurate with the exception of the 4pm deadline for decisions - DCL said this is not their deadline - maybe it's from a specific travel agency?? However, I will call this evening and tomorrow for updates and keep watching the news and projections - I have yet to find 2 stations that agree totally where this thing is supposed to hit - so that does give me some hope!

Lisa, Maureen : Are you guys still a go?? I can't believe after all this time it may not happen.

I just got off the phone with Shirley. She told me that she just received a call from DCL telling her that the plan is for the Wonder to leave on Mon from Port Everglade. She told me that she and Norm are evacuating across the river so if you need her this weekend and can't reach her at the shop to call her cell. She also said that if she were me, she would book a room in Orlando and take a chance.

If it does leave from PE will you all ride the bus or hop in the car and beat the crowd?

I'm still waivering back and forth. I really want to put a pink bouncy guy on here but I'm to quite there yet.

Also, Wonder is booked for Thanksgiving. The most open weeks are 11/14 and 12/12.

Any new thoughts?

We are a go for now. We are headed to Hard Rock Hotel tomorrow morning and will play at Universal for a day or two. IF we leave from Fort Lauderdale we will either take the bus and leave our car in Orlando because that will be where we return ...OR ...drive to Ft. Lauderdale and have Disney bus us back to Ft. Lauderdale to retrieve our car on Thursday. Not sure.

I HOPE THIS WEEK WORKS! I need a vacation!!!! (EVEN FOR TWO DAYS!)

Mary, I am glad you are still hanging in. We have a fireworks cruise reserved tomorrow night at the Magic Kingdom (leaves from Polynesian) . If it is still a "GO" you and hubby and daughter are welcome to join us. It's right across from the Shades!

Unavoidable circumstances created by Hurricane Jeanne have brought about the need to make adjustments to our Disney Wonder and Disney Magic cruises.

Disney Wonder Three-Night Cruise, September 23, 2004
In order to avoid the effects of Hurricane Jeanne, we have extended this three-night cruise to a four-night cruise and modified the itinerary. We will now visit Cozumel, Mexico, on this voyage rather than the Bahamas. The ship will return on Monday, September 27, to Fort Lauderdale’s Port Everglades.

Disney Magic Seven-Night Cruise, September 25, 2004
Because Hurricane Jeanne is impacting Port Canaveral, the Disney Magic will now depart from Fort Lauderdale’s Port Everglades on Monday, September 27, on a five-night voyage. The itinerary will be:

Monday: Depart from Port Everglades
Tuesday: Day at Sea
Wednesday: Cozumel, Mexico
Thursday: Costa Maya, Mexico
Friday: Day at Sea
Saturday: Return to Port Canaveral
Ground transportation will be provided to Fort Lauderdale from Walt Disney World and the Orlando International Airport. In addition, transportation will be provided back to Fort Lauderdale from Port Canaveral at the end of the cruise if your car is in Fort Lauderdale. Special incentives will be offered to those who choose to sail on this cruise.

Disney Wonder Four-Night Cruise, September 26, 2004
This cruise is being delayed by one day and will depart on Monday, September 27, on a three-night voyage rather than a four-night cruise, departing from Fort Lauderdale’s Port Everglades. The cruise is still anticipated to sail to the Bahamas. However, depending on the path and impact of Hurricane Jeanne, it may be necessary to eliminate our calls to Castaway Cay and to Nassau. In this event, we will explore the potential to visit other ports or to have days at sea.

We realize that guests who have reservations for this cruise were looking forward to a four-night itinerary, and we are offering discount incentives to those who still choose to sail on this cruise.
Guests who booked air travel on their own should change only the inbound flight to Florida. Do not reschedule return flights as we expect no complications related to our return to Port Canaveral on Thursday.

We are still planning on going, but mapping out our strategy to get there....

Atlanta--drive to Orlando--Pop Century--Saturday night
Do "Disney" Saturday and/or Sunday, dependent upon weather.

Drive 3.5 hours to Port Everglades and stay in a Marriott 30 min. from the port.

The logistics of this thing are driving crazy!!! I sure hope they don't change it back to Port Canaveral after all this!

I hope Southwest airlines will do a rule 85 and let people have refunds for Saturaday flights into Orlando. I could use the refund off my credit card!!

Well, we've looked at Marriott's website, and they have a lot of rooms left at their hotels, so driving to Ft. Lauderdale and getting a room there (about 10 min. from the port) is a possibility.

However, we've booked under my Mom's and brother's names, and they have us under a FL and/or Military discount, so if they cancel (because they can't get there from VA), we lose our cruise too!

Looks like we'd have to pay the difference between the FL rate and the "real" rate if we want to keep our cruise! And, I'm not sure we could do that.

This is getting really worrisome for all of us!

Ok Mickey fans....we've made our decision. We are rescheduling. Rule 85 does apply. We just cancelled on Southwest and American. You do not have to have new travel dates.

So, so sad. I guess it's time to get over it and get refocused. I'll let you all know when we get a new date.

So sorry, we decided not to go and took the full refund for this cruise. My DM lives in Deerfield Beach (just north of Ft. Lauderdale) and while it would have been a much easier drive to the port, she wanted to cancel. She was up here in Chicago when Hurricane Frances hit very near to her home, and she was very worried about her DH as he works for the City of Deerfield Beach and needed to be in the Emergency Operations Center. I think she wanted to be near him during this hurricane. I don't know when we will be able to rebook, but I'll keep you all posted. If you are going, I hope you have a wonderful cruise.
