Anyone live in Celebration Florida

<snip>

We live in Davenport and we love it! We live off Ronald Reagan near Champion's Gate and Reunion. It's quiet and our neighbors are wonderful!

This is the same area I live in. Hmmmm.......wonder how close to being neighbors we are. :scratchin

I have several friends who lived there and they all moved out. They didn't like the homeowners laws and felt it was overpriced and you're really paying for the name. They didn't like the local schools.

Most of them moved to Davenport (very affordable) or north of downtown Orlando (getting away from tourism).

Celebration has a nice town feel, something you don't find in most areas of Orlando. They do some fun holiday events and its a beautiful place to run, fish, and bike. I agree with PP- rent for a few months and see if it's your cup of tea.

We are moving to the Orlando area within the next 8-9 months. We ruled out Celebration because the public schools are not good. Can't justify living in a place where we would need to put our kids in private school, especially since we have a lot of kids :) Maybe when we retire.....

I have heard that a LOT of Disney execs live there.

Are there any 55 plus community in the areas, we call them here in PA Tax Credit developments.

Not sure if they're considered "near," but Solavita in Poinciana and King's Ridge in Clermont are over-55 communities.

We looked at both of them and had the area been more developed when we were ready to move down here, we would have bought in King's Ridge. The houses seemed larger and the community activities seemed more extensive.

I've lived in Celebration for almost 5 years and I love it and wouldn't live anywhere else.

Not sure why people are saying bad things about our schools since the K8 has consistently been rated an A school.

I love the small town feel, the community and the people. I love going to the bakery or post office and being greeted by name.

I did live in other areas but spent most of my time in Celebration anyway.

Prices have dropped considerably and it's very affordable now.

Did you hear? Our school is now a Blue Ribbon school. (for whatever that's worth!) But some people seem excited about it. :thumbsup2

And David Weekley is building - http://www.davidweekleyhomes.com/new-homes/fl/orlando/celebration/spring-lake-at-celebration

And our library is almost done. :goodvibes

I've heard good things about Davenport. Our lender recommended the area even. We decided we wanted to be closer to the beach and discovered a beautiful little town called Viera. It's on the outskirts of Melbourne.
Viera can be hit or miss. Look at Suntree if you want to be in that area. Much nicer. Really.
At first glance it looks nice, but when you look closer in the subdivisions you'll notice that it's hit or miss with people taking care of their homes and foreclosures. Our Realtor was very much against us moving there when we were looking to relocate within the area to a nicer home than our starter home that we had built.

So just to throw a wrench into that...we looked at Suntree and ran in the other direction. The HOA is super strict (I'm fine with HOA's in general, but I was hearing horror stories from the Suntree HOA's) and the average age in Suntree is really old. Viera is a little more young-family friendly.

We just built a house in Viera. And I think anywhere in Florida you have the issue of Foreclosures, I actually saw more of the issue in West Melbourne, and not in Viera.

Personally, I love Viera. It really fits for us. Peanut Giggleface, feel free to send me a message if you want more info on the area. We moved down here in April, lived in Suntree for 6 months and then moved into our home in Viera. I'd be happy to help!

My husband and I rented in Viera for a few years, and just bought a house in Rockledge. Very close to Viera, much more affordable, and more land! We didn't want a tiny lot, and for MUCH less that we would have spent in Viera, we have 1/3 of an acre with a huge backyard for our son, big long driveway, pool, and a great, safe neighborhood. We also looked in Suntree, loved it as well! I would be happy in any of those places (though I will say that we were very selective about WHERE we would look in Rockledge, some areas were DEFINITELY off limits!)

Oops, mis-read post. Mirasol is in Celebration, not near Disney Marketplace, and I'm not certain it's an over-55 community. Sorry for confusion.

It's not an over-55 condo complex.

There has been talk for years about building one on Celebration Blvd. It certainly would be nice for some.

Found this thread & figured I'd bump it to get some more recent opinions/perspectives. Thanks!

I love Celebration and we actually looked at buying a home there, but instead chose the Emerald Island area of Kissimmee. We owned for 6 years but the association dues got out of control so we sold. We would always end up in Celebration, during Halloween it was decorated so nicely. It really does have a nice feel to it. What we didn't like about Celebration is that we couldn't have our own pool, that might have changed by now. But in Kissimmee we got at 7 bedroom 4 1/2 bath with a 17x30 pool for less money. But now after living in Kissimmee i would really consider Celebration again as we wouldn't need such a big home (we used it as a rental)

I can't remember a time when pools weren't allowed, and we've been here 11 years. I'm going to have to ask some of the older folks. There are some pretty small yards, and people still put pools in them! We do have four pools for resident use, which is really nice. And the HOA has worked hard to control dues. The only thing we can't control is the price of houses. Pricey homes is unfortunate if you are trying to buy, or fortunate if you are trying to sell. Depends which side you are on. ;)

I live in Davenport, very close to Champions Gate and Reunion. I live in a subdivision off Ronald Reagen Parkway. It's quiet and a very nice area. It's exit 58 off 4. Takes us about 15 minutes to get to Disney. You should check it out.

….I just noticed your 'Location' in yer avi……uhhhhh, INTERESTING, to say the least…..
