Anyone know where I can get a good deal on car rentals?

Help!!
I waited too long to get a rental from National (the prices have gone way up). I was going to use two coupons and join the preferred club for free (to go straight to my car).

Does anyone know any other places (National or any other car rental company that has an office at Orlando Airport) that I can get a good deal on a car. I am looking for at least an Intermedate size car.

Would love any help I could get. Thanks.

I got a very good rate through Alamo (I think it was $56 for a minivan) but that was out of the Dolphin hotel's car rental desk. You might want to check their web site and do a search for "alamo rental car coupon" on google or something to get coupon codes to use. I think the AAA rate was cheapest though.

Hope this is helpful. When I was choosing a rental for my trip I went thru Avis using a coupon from Costco travel. I looked at AAA and they were not as cheap plus they favored Hertz, which I found to be more expensive. The do have a desk at the Orlando Airport. Don't forget to check back cause prices change often.

pricelessvacations.com, then click on Alamo car rental, then click on one free day coupon, then click reservations from the coupon link. At the airport National, Alamo, Dollar, L&M, and I think one more possibly Budget. Don't quote me, this is by memory and it has never been good.

we used www.rentalcarmomma.com and got a ford escape suv for $195 for 9 days try these too: www.rentalcodes.com and www.carrentals.com . Those are sites with codes already applied....good luck!!

They have a whole section on tips for getting the best rental car deals. One thing we did discover is that National (at least in February) let you combine discounts...we combined BJ's discount with a senior discount with no problems at all.

Believe it or not I found a GREAT deal for Avis for friend last night--Really surprised, they are almost always more expensive. They beat Dollar and National by over $30 on a two day rental in October.

Try Expedia - www.expedia.com You will get quotes from a bunch of different car rental companies. I always get cheaper rentals there than on the companies' websites. I don't even check the company sites any more.

Orbitz, Travelocity...there are a bunch of travel sites that will give you better prices.

I have not found this to be my expience. I use Orbitz to check base rates, but can almost always, note I said almost, get the same rates at the rental companies web sites. What I like about going directly to the companies web site is that I can use a contract id and coupon to get the lowest rate and I don't have to pay the booking fee to Orbitz.

Good luck. I suggest educating yourself. Start at www.mousesavers.com to find out about ways to save. Then, play with the codes on the sites to see what you can get. It is all trial and error until you figure out what works for you.

Are you a member of Costco? Costco has a corporate agreement with Alamo, Avis, Budget and Hertz that gives a decent discount. Costco also has additional coupons in their travel catalog that you can combine with the corporate discount. More info is available at Costco.com
