I just heard that Food Rocks is closing to make way for the queue for the new Soarin' attraction in Epcot. Anyone know when it will close? What a disappointment. I hope to see the show one last time. :(

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please don't say it's closing before Feb 04. I will seriously weep.

That was the BEST show EVER. I went to this every visit since I was 8 years old.

 :(

That is so sad.

I wish I could go back to Disney is October for the haunted mansion thing though.

OH NO! This is such a great show. We never miss it!

We all love this show and will have to see it go. I didn't see it in the link so does anyone know when this is happening? I would like to see it one more time when we go in October and am hoping it will be there.

OMG!!! Tell me it isn't true!.. We only discovered Food Rocks about 3 years ago, and we all love it, especially my DH. Thank God we taped the show last year on our camcorder. (Along with the old preshow for Honey I Shrunk...)

This is very sad:( We were there the 1st week of July and it was also very sad that when we went into Food Rocks that it was empty. There were maybe 15 people total.

That's sad:( :( :(
We won't be there until August 2004 I don't surpose they will keep it open until then.
Going to phone DH at work to tell him the bad news.

We all love Food Rocks

I was there last July 02 and it was pretty empty too. I just got finished telling DBF that this is a hidden gem at WDW that he'd like. He was all psyched for it, and then I had to tell him it might be gone when we get there in Feb. :( He never gor a chance to see it.

I hope they don't get rid of Food Rocks. I think it's a hidden gem as well. I see it on every trip.

I am not counting this as a done deal though. I noticed that the person that owns the site from the link above is also talking about the change of Spaceship Earth to a thrill ride like it's a done deal, which I certainly don't agree with. I guess we'll all have to wait and see.

I read on another site that it is not closing. Apparently the queue for the new Soarin' ride will begin at the entrance to Food Rocks but the show will be left alone. So, who knows? I hope they do not close it because I remember it from 1995 as such a cute show and now I want my kids to see it when we go this February. :(

NOOOOOO!!!!!

They can't get rid of the one of the few things that kids enjoy at Epcot and a few select, enlightened adults like us love too.

We love it and we are a couple with no kids in our 30's

They just can't get rid of it...I WILL PROTEST!!!

I liked Food Rocks a lot! However, if they are bringing Soarin' in then I will not compain to anyone at Disney. Soarin' is awesome!

Soarin' is the kind of attraction that will easily make people forget what was there beforehand. Food Rocks is a kind of love-it-or-hate-it attraction like Toad was. Soarin' is a love-it-or-LOVE-IT...

Okay, I know this thread is about Food Rocks - which my family loves, HOWEVER....

I am more upset about Tim Burtons Nightmare coming and the well known and loved Haunted Mansion being taken out.

The Haunted Mansion is right up there on our list with POTC.

That really upsets me... Thank goodness though we are going so I can get a couple more rides in before they distroy two of our family favorites.

WHAT? ? ? ? They sometimes turn the HM into the nightmare at Halloween. Are you sure this isn't what you heard?

From what I've read that's exactly what they are doing. They are going to do the same overlay as they do at Disneyland for HMH at Disneyworld. It's supposed to be ready by next Halloween and should be up til after christmas. I wish I was going next christmas to see it lol but I will be seeing it in the original park in 2 years so that's okay.

As for Food Rocks, I'm very sad that they are taking that out. I really have enjoyed that show. Hopefully it won't be gone in December. Anyone heard a projected date yet?

I guess we're in the minority. We just saw thsi show again last month and it is awful! I won't miss it a bit! And niether will my little kids. Going to sleep here.... And such dated info! Don't they know that Atkins is the way to eat? LOL ;)
Anyway, I was RACKINg my brain trying to recall the show that Food Rocks replaced. I can't remember what it was. Anyoen refresh my memory? Thanks!

If a "Soarin" type of attaction takes the place of Food Rocks, I won't be disappointed. It is a cute show though. I also saw it last year in an almost empty theatre.

lenshanem,
That would be "Kitchen Kaberet". They had the "Veggie, Fruit Fruit" song which was way better than the Food Rocks music.
:D
