I have finally come to terms with the fact that I love WDW way more than my DD. I always have. I visited as a child and fell in love with it completely back then. DD, on the other hand, has fun while she's there, but she doesn't have the great desire to plan and talk about it before we go. If a show about WDW comes on TV, she might watch a minute of it, and then she's on to other things. I, of course, am glued to the TV. Is there anyone else out there that adores WDW, but has lukewarm kids?

Holy cow.. I read your question wrong.. I thought you were saying you loved WDW more than you loved your child!! LOL

I think we love it the same - we are so similar and we get a kick out of the same things - maybe I love it a little bit more than her... but it's pretty close.

We've taken the kids to WDW 3 times. Spaced 3 & 2 years apart. They've always had a great time and get very excited about going. Towards the end of our last trip, however, my 15 y.o. stated that she didn't think she'd be needing to return to Disney World anytime soon.....that she'd wait til she was older. That was in Nov. My husb and I are now hoping for a solo trip this fall, and she's asking to go. I guess she's older now! :)

But yes, like you, I love WDW more than my family. They love to go but don't feel the pull like I do. Poor family! :) They frequently tell me to get a life when they catch me, again, reading travel books, watching WDW planning videos, or playing music from the parks.

My almost 13 year old DS just asked if he could go to North Carolina with his friend instead of WDW with us!

Yep. That's how it is. I can almost hear my DD asking the same question if the opportunity presented itself.

I love WDW more than my wife does, more than my kids do and (sometime in the distant future) probably more than my grandkids. Each time we go, I use it as an opportunity to give my kids more and more freedom and choices. Now that they are 11 and 14, they get to wander away from us for hours at a time - in the same park and with a wireless phone. This gives my wife and I the chance to do things like go to WWTBAM four times in a row. In addition, being a DVC member, we never HAVE to do anything on any one trip - this makes for a great time when we can relax if we want to or go all out in the parks. While I love WDW, I am very flexible when it comes to what we do there.

By the way GRINNINGGHOST, do you have any pictures of your cat while it was alive?

Good one.;)

This kitty assumes a dead cat pose anytime he feels the urgent need for a belly rub.:D

Most definitely!!! No one in my family loves WDW more than I do. So much so that I'm having a hard time convincing them that we can't skip such a great deal like FTP. Still working on it.

My dd is only 3, but asks every day if we're going to Disney World today!!! So I think I may have someone who loves it ALMOST as much as I do. We'll wait and see when she gets older!!! I have the same problem as the previous poster who said that family members think they're nuts everytime they pull out a travel book, etc. I do that too, everytime I need a fix, I watch the vacation video, home movies of our trips, read books, etc. At least we know we're not alone!!!:D

ROFLMAO! I read the question EXACTLY the same way... I must have a warped mind. I think our kids love it as much as I do. Except for when my dd went through her "if the adults like it, I can't admit I like it" phase...

I love WDW I could live there!

My daughter? She's all right. I can take her or leave her.

;) :p

I got a good laugh out of that one.

I love WDW & have passed that love on to my 3 DD's, although they tell me to "get a life" also every time they see me on these boards!!!

My DH claims he could "take WDW or leave it", but I know in his heart he enjoys it just as much. He enjoys the first class ambience of everything at Disney. He's the one that asked me if I wanted to take a couples anniversay trip in Oct. together. Like I would have said no!!

Whew! I'm glad to learn I am not so crazy as my husband might think I am. While my kids really love Disney and my husband also enjoys Disney, I alone am obsessed with planning our next Disney vacation. However, in a few years, I'm sure my DD will be helping me pour over our itinerary and all the guide books (after all, she's only 6 now...). I love the validation I can get from these boards:earsboy:
Thanks, everyone!

Hey all you crazy Disney people!

Count me in on your clubs.

1. I misread the question also...thought the same...gee do I love WDW more than my kids? Somedays, yes!

2. I am the one pushing to go in Oct 2004. My DH loves to go, but thinks I am crazy. The kids did not want to leave last Dec.
Neither did I!

I am definitely the Disney Nut in my house. My DH can take i tor leave it:rolleyes: and my kids, though they are into it now, I am afraid that by the time they reach their teen years, they will cool off a little.
I am hoping that one, if not both , of them grows to love Disney the way I do

LOL oh am I ever the guilty one!

I was telling a co-worker today that I wouldn't lie. DD loves WDW but we go for me. It's just a bonus that she enjoys it too. DH can take it or leave it as well.

I think I have a 9 year old who loves Disney almost as much as her mother. She has had a tough year in school (testing for special ed, etc.) and has handled it really well. As a reward for her I told her I would take her anywhere she wanted to go for a long weekend. She had been talking about Sea World in San Antonio and I assumed that is what she would pick, but Disneyworld was the first thing out of her month. She says mommy I love it as much as you do. The 15 year DD is another matter, in March when we were in Disney, she told me we needed to find other places for vacation. I left it up to the 9 year old if big sister got to go, low and behold, big sister ended up begging little sis to include her. I am also taking one of my older DD's friends. The friend told me I could take her to Disney any time I wanted. The hubby is staying home 10 times to WDW in 8 years and 2 times to DL has disneyed him out. He is going with us to DL in November for a 5 night trip. I am still the certified Disney nut in my family because I could spend hours on this boards everyday if I had the time.

DH (59) and I (49) absolutely love WDW. This July will be our 5th time in 6 years. We went for the first time for 2 weeks for our 25th anniversary. I think we burnt ourselves out that time because when we came home I was saying "been there, done that, over it!". Two years later, I was on Disney online and saw that the Lord of the Dance was going to be at the American Theater at Epcot. My DS just loves them so I made plans to surprise him with the dinner package. This trip was 1 week and much less hectic and now we are hooked. DH and I are the real Disneyholics, but DS (16) is not ready to give it up yet either. DH started packing for this years trip right after we came home last August, and he started packing a year before that trip. Kept asking me when I was going to start packing. Gotta love him.
