Anyone here who loves WDW more than their kids do?

My wife and kids love Disney. However, they are nowhere near as obsessed as I am.

Count me in on this club. My youngest is 12 now and wanting to go to the parks with all the big rollercoasters with her dad. I tell them that the only way I will get on the plane and fly all the way to Florida is if we spend a few days at WDW. We usually go every couple years and to Disneyland in between. I hate to fly and Disneyland is close enough to drive to in 2 days. I make sure that we always have a few park hoppers to use so that they will feel like we are wasting money if we don't go to WDW. The rest of the days are theirs to choose.

Kid to Adult point of view!!!

My parents took me to WDW when I was 4, 6, 10 and 12. According to my parents I wasn't intrested in WDW after 12. All I did was play video games in the huge Contemporary Resort arcade.

When I turned 25 I went back to WDW with my GF (DW now). I have been back every year since. Each visit is better then the last.

I joined DVC at 27 and I am now returning the favor to my parents. They have accompanied us for the last 2 trips. Our next trip is in Dec.

I absolutely love it more than anyone in my family. My kids refused to go anymore after our 5th trip in a row, with no other vacation locations in between. Now that they are older, 19 and 21, they want to go back. In fact my older son and his girlfriend went on a land/sea cruise and loved it. My husband and I went for the first time without the kids, this past April, and I loved it even more. Got to do everything WE wanted without hearing whining and complaining, got to eat wherever WE wanted and so on. Had such a great time alone that we have booked a long weekend back there in September. Can't wait!!:Pinkbounc

I don't have kids yet, but if I did I would bet that I would like Disney more than them. In fact, I feel like a little kid every time I go there...I get pictures and autographs with the characters, I sing along to all of the songs on the rides, and, yes, I get a little teary-eyed when I watch Illuminations at Epcot (my boyfriend thinks I'm a nut). I'm glad to see there are others just like me :)

I'm a lucky one, all of us love to go.

I normally go with my brother and his family. My 15 y/o nephew is just as excited to go as he was when he first went at 10 y/o. He doesn't even have an issue with getting a character autograph or just goofing around with them.

I don't know if it will always be that way, but I'm Disney for life.

Guilty as charged!

The kids love WDW, but many at my work suggest I have "issues!" LOL.
I'm just trying to figure out if I can claim "The Mouse" as a dependent on my tax return... accountant says no, but I may be able to deduct the counseling he suggested! :smooth:

My friend once asked "How do you get your kids to still go with you to Disney" before I could answer my husband answered- They go for their mother she is a nut and makes the trip exciting for them by all her planning. Yes I drive them crazy but everytime we are on vacation they ask me what would your Disney friends do now?

I had a chance to go in Feb. without any notice and my son said but Mom you enjoy the planning almost as much as the vacation. He's right so we put that trip off and are going in December. I can't wait but waiting is half the fun. It's nice to know we are not alone.

P.S. We could be obsessed with alot worse things!

It's really hard to say who loves it more...but...the kids are grown up and won't be able to afford it on their own for a while yet, and we can't afford to pay for them all the time...so guess who's going to go anyway? We've worked for it, we've earned it, and they're not going to deprive us of it!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Sounds like you have to work harder at converting them. My DD (7) is now a big fan. She gives advise to everyone about Dis. I was able to convert my SIL this year and we now have a standing date for President's Week each year. (This is from someone who has been twice in over 30 years and saw no need to go back)

Each time we go, I use it as an opportunity to give my kids more and more freedom and choices. Now that they are 11 and 14, they get to wander away from us for hours at a time - in the same park and with a wireless phone.

Wow, I'm impressed. I will be going with my parents next fall and will not be allowed to wonder off on my own:p My father's biggest fear is to lose a child or grandchild at Disney. Last vacation we all met my parents the first day with those wrist things you put on infants so we wouldn't get seperated. (We are 36, 33, 30 respectively with 8, 7, 3, and 1 year old children)

It's a good thing I have family and solo trips.;)

Our DD (9) said on our last trip this past weekend I sure will be glad when our passes are up and we can go somewhere else. I thought the DW would pass out. Our DD just does not understand how lucky she is that we have been able to go so much this past year. She has been more times at 9 than every one else in our extended family combined has been in their entire lives.

When we started our "vacation talk" this year, I told our older girls(17&12) that we were going to go back to Disneyworld this year. They said "We would rather go on a cruise." A Disney cruise? NO! Just a regular old run of the mill cruise. BLASPHEMY!! I told my husband "But, I want to go to Disneyworld!" WHAT?? He wanted to go on a cruise, too! Then I came up with my brilliant plan. We took our 5 year old daughter on her first Disney trip for her birthday WITHOUT the other two girls. Boy, were they shocked that we left them at home. When we came back from that trip talking about going again next summer, what did they say but, "Of course we are going next year!" But my 17 yr old still asks me why I'm on this board instead of the cruise critic board for our July cruise since we aren't going back to Disney until July'04. Some people will never learn.

I have 6 kids & YES I think I love disney more than they do.

BUT...I have 1 DD...14 yrs old...who is a close runner up. She has already decided that she will be doing the college plan that disney runs. And she would like to work in disney advertising!

The oldest at 17...would like to go with her boyfriend...but not us anymore. but the multiple trips & all my teaching her how to plan does let her show off what she knows to all her friends!

The younger ones enjoy the parks, movies ect...but I don't think my 3 boys feel quite the same.

They always get annoyed on the last day of our trip...I start big sighs...tearing up at little sights...they just say

"we'll come back again MOm...you know we always come back!"

but that's because it's MY fav. place!

are you kidding? Of course I do!! My kids love it though too. My oldest daughter is almost 11. I'm wondering when these trips will not be as exciting for her. So far there are no signs ...

My wife says that I am obsessed about Disney. I must confess that she is correct. I have been planning for my August 2004 trip for almost a year now (since we got back form WDW last June). Of course, I have been ignoring any vacations and holiday planning in the meantime. Oh well, I guess happy people cannot help but want to be at the happiest place on earth.:D

Okay, first you have to read my signature line. Now, enjoy this morning's EVENT -- I was telling my daughter that I have to change the music in my car CD changer, but am holding out until my 3 new WDW CDs arrive, including Tapestry of Dreams, Illuminations, Spectromagic and the Magic of Disney music. She asked me to remind her of what was Illuminations and when she couldn't quite remember it, she said . . .get this: "Mom, we are going to have to go to WDW more often so that I can really get to know the music and the parades and stuff"!!!!! Okay, okay, that might not seem like a big deal to you, but she is ALMOST 15!!! Then she started talking about her and her friends spending spring breaks at BCV when she is in college!!!! Ladies and Gentlemen, I think my efforts have finally paid off!!!
As for my DSalmost10? He LOVES all things Disney almost as much as me! Thank God, DH has been a fan since the first time we went together 9 years ago!

Congrats on the converts keenercam!!! I'm working on mine DD18 DS15 and DH. Although I must admit the kids are more keen than DH. They all think I'm nuts!! (By the way, sometimes I do like WDW better than my kids, OOPS!)

I know I love it more than DH - the kids .... they get excited about it when I bring it up. It is killing me, having to pass up this years great prices. I think I could go every month for the rest of my life. DH wants to go see other places.... NOT ME!! The kids (16 & 12) & I love Disney!! Doesn't everyone??????
:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc Have a Magical Day!

I must add to the above post. My DS loves Disney as much as I do! He is wanting to work there as a computer animator. He's a Junior in high school so he need to start planning. Any ideas on how to get started would be appreciated. I love this site!!:teeth:

My kids are 30,29,27 and 23. The two oldest like it ok, the next 2 can take it or leave it. I and my wife are quasi addicted and have been that way for the last 15 years or so. Before then we liked it but more because it was a good family vacation destination not just because... because. My guess is that its biggest fans are the young and young at heart and those inbetween are to busy just gettin by to become addicted to WDW.
