We have the Disney Visa we are thinking about canceling. We only use it for food down in WDW, so we're considering an airline CC. We don't fly a ton, so FF miles won't help us much.
We mainly fly SW, but dh didn't think that CC was very good, and it didn't get good reviews. It would be nice to have a CC that would be good for any airline.
Anyone have one they like, or know a place to look for info on airline CCs.

Thanks.

If you aren't going to get much use out of miles, an airline card is probably not very useful.

I'd encourage you to consider a cash-back card. The going rate seems to be right around 1% or a little more (so similar to the Disney card) but cash is more flexible than Disney gift cards. I think Chase also has a product that will use reward dollars towards airfare on any airline, but I'm not sure how that compares to the cash back cards.

I have the Southwest Visa and I think it's great. I've already earned a free flight just by using it the first time. I mainly use it for travel and for paying bills. I pay my bills with it and then pay it off immediately. That way, I can rack up the points faster. Hopefully, I'll have enough soon for a second free flight. Vegas, here I come!! :cool2:

AX, with the Star Wood Perferred Guest (SPG).

Best points to be used for hotel stays. I often can get a "cash and points" type room so cheap.

EG. San Deigo, downtown: $60.00/night and 4000 points
SAN Fran, Downtown, $60.00/night + 4000 points.

Look into it....

That SWA/Chase Visa promotion was too good to pass up; a free flight anywhere Southwest flies after your first use of the card, and Southwest is best in the industry insofar as having the ability to get that free flight, as a terrific article in the WSJ pointed out several weeks ago.

Definitely a 'no brainer' if there ever was one in this wacky industry.

We have an Airtran Visa and love it because we rack up miles quick. We primarily fly with Airtran so it made sense for us. What I love about it is that I don't have to book a round trip ticket. I do not like the USAir card because it takes an enormous amount of miles to get a ticket and they are hard to cash out. I had the Starwood Amex, but where I live the places that I frequent the most don't accept the Amex card so I got rid of it.

I have the Jetblue Amex because I primarily fly Jetblue. Points values to fly are fairly low, Points never expire as long as you use the card, you get double points for dining out and playing golf, and up to 8X points using card to book flights at Jetblue.com
Plus loads of online shopping opportunities offering multi points/dollar spent.

That same article in the WSJ cited Delta & US Airways as being next to impossible when it comes to redeeming tickets for free flights or anything else.

Southwest & Air Canada were both near 100%, and Air Berlin was right behind them.

Discover Business may be the best card. You can convert rewards into gift cards at dozens of stores, shops, hotels, car rentals, food, etc and get an additional kick out of it.

40 rewards points turns into a $50 gift card at staples as one example. Another is 20 points turning into a $40 gift card at Enterprise. You get double or triple points on fuel purchases and office supplies so if its truly an office setting you can really do well at staples. Good value at restaurants too.

Not sure if discover card regular has same deal but I've got every CC (starwood, disney visa, sky miles) and the best deal is discover easily. Only issue is they only give a $4K credit limit (they hit us with a $40 over limit fee last month which they removed after i yelled) and some places (very few) don't accept it.

For you, check out discover. It beats Disney Visa for us, since we put every payment we can on it and pay it off in full each month (usually around $2K). No annual fee makes a big difference too. Starwood just raised their annual fee effective this October, I'm closing that card next month! I think Disney Visa has a yearly fee too?
