They are being held the day before the NYC marathon in Central park. I think the date is November 3. I will be going down to check it out and was wondering if anyone else was.

Does anyone have a favorite to win? :confused3 Anyone care?:)

I don't know why, but I am really rooting for Meb to win. I saw him win the Gate River Run here in Jacksonville and have been rooting for him since!!

I'll be eagering watching/listening to the results of the trials. A couple of local guys from the running shop are in it. I have a favorite Trent B. that I will be cheering for from home.

I'm betting Meb makes it in though but who knows on the other 2 spots.

Wish I could be there.

That is very cool -- I may drag my sons in to watch! It looks like they start at Rockefeller center then make multiple loops around central park to end on tavern on the green.

I don't have a favorite really, but I am kinda rooting for the Moulton twins -- maybe because one of them (Casey) shares a name with my eldest son and i would like to see more male Casey's in the news (after he was born, the name became very popular for girls and irish setters, at least around here. :confused3 ).

I am wondering how this weather will effect the times -- I know we have a cool down coming, but I still think it will be above normal November temps here.

Here are my picks to make the team. Sell, Hall and Meb. I know, really going out on a limb.

I was really hoping that a buddy that I went to college would make the trials. His last attempt to qualify was at Chicago where nobody ran fast times. He was the 3rd american which won him 2K. He made the trials in 04 but just couldn't do it this time.

I think that there are about 150 people who made the qualifying time and only 3 make it. It is a shame because of all the hard work everyone puts in. I guess that is what makes it great.

I was planning on watching at least some of it on TV. How much of it, that depends on how long my L/R is. ;) We don't have Tivo. I know, I know, kinda stoneaged.

I'm rooting for Meb myself. I don't know why, I just like him. :thumbsup2

Hey, if there are any Wishers doing/watching the New York marathon, can you look out for my friend (yeh, right I know there's thousands of people out there - but keep reading).

His name is Martin and he's a running buddy from New Zealand - the reason he's special. He has spina bifida and he's running with the NZ Achilles Foundation (which help less able bodied athletes run races) sooooo, should you see a guy about 6ft tall, slightly balding who runs with a limp in an Achilles Foundation T-Shirt, ask him if his name is Martin. He should be running with his brother Andrew who is slightly taller and wears glasses, they'll be about a 5hr.30ish pace I'm guessing. He's been told to look for WISH shirts and accost anyone wearing one! Helen

I am not running, but a good friend of mine is, so the kids and I are probably going to head out to do some cheering Sunday . . . I will definitely keep my eyes peeled. We will probably be on the Queens side of the 59th street bridge. Not sure if my WISH shirt would be viewable though --its gotten cold here the last couple of days!

Good luck to your friend -- hope he has a great run!

I haven't heard yet..... what did the autopsy reports determine about Ryan Shay? How sad is that? I feel so bad for his friends and family.

Eva - His autopsy was inconclusive.

Dave - Ryan Hall.
