Anyone getting worried about March Break Travel

I wonder how Air Miles/Disney would handle the tickets bought through the Air Miles portal. We've already assigned dates.

On the rates of coronavirus in Florida, I think we can expect that the numbers will go up substantially in the next couple of weeks. Testing kits were in short supply across the US until they distributed tons this week. The numbers being reported are artificially low as a result. The US is just ramping up the testing now.
If you got your Canadian Discount tickets through AM or other regular AM tickets for that matter, they should be flexible date tickets. Did you purchase them through the personal shopper and have them attach a date to them?

Purchased them through the offer on the Air Miles portal (not personal shopper)... Then attached them through My Disney Experience to our planned dates in May so we could book our fastpasses at the 60-day window. We've been planning our trip since last August. :(

To be sure what kind of tickets they are check the email they sent you when you ordered them. Mine says

480382

Even though they now sit in MDE they are good for use until the end of December 2020. They are not attached to my April stay.

That's what I've got! OK, so since I "attached" them to a date for the purposes of Fastpass bookings, they will still be recognized as a flexible date ticket? Thanks so much! :)

Donald Trump just stopped all incoming flights from Europe to the U.S (except for the UK)., for a period of 30 days, as of midnight Friday. This should make an interesting week at Disney.
I only hope our Govt. is paying attention.
What a nightmare for Americans in Europe right now who want to get home . 48 hours to get back . I don’t disagree with the measures at all, I just feel for the people who are stuck. These are crazy days indeed. :scared:

Pigletto...CNN is saying that US residents and their immediate family members are still eligible to return however they should be prepared for a 14 day quarantine...

I called early this morning and Disney refunded my Canadian Resident tickets that I booked in early February. They also waived the cancellation fee on my ticketless package (room and meal plan). I booked both the tickets and the package directly through Disney.
I was extremely grateful to say the least as we are unable to travel due to restrictions at school for international travel which includes the US.

That's good customer service! Much better than what DCL is offering right now. Luckily, we are PIF only in April for our August cruise so we are still in the 'wait and see' category for that one.

I would think they are still Flex since you 'bought' them as Flex. You could contact Disney just to be sure.

Oh phew ... that sounds much better!

Yes. CNN said the White House issued a statement to clarify what President Trump "meant" when he said that they were stopping ALL incoming flights from Europe with the exception of the UK. What I did not realize was they were also stopping cargo from being delivered to US ports by sea. Should be making for an interesting 30 days...

My daughter’s swim team leaves tomorrow morning for ten days in Orlando. Dd is not going. With all the escalating chaos in the US, I can’t believe they are still heading out tomorrow—especially now that AC is refunding airfare.

Wow, I am surprised that they would take the chance with the trip but I guess since the USA is not on any restrictions from the Canadian Government they felt they are safe. I am very glad that we cancelled or trip to Orlando Mar 23-Apr 4 since our city's (Hamilton) first positive Crovid-19 was a cancer doctor who returned from vacation in Hawaii on Saturday.

Live update from WDW..,

It’s March 12. WDW is operating as usual. The places are crowded. Ride line-ups are shoulder to shoulder. Staff are friendly. There are occasional rude and evil visitors. There are Caucasians making fun of the situation if your race are from endemic areas. I have personally encountered people coughing at my family on purpose at us mocking COVID19. I hope this would not escalate further into racial attack.

Here are my factual observations for you to decide:
1. They have surprisingly low number of sanitizer pumps throughout the WDW. They are found mostly at park entrances. So you will not find them at each ride. And they do not wipe the rides between guests as there is no time to do that.
2. Park security is doing the same bag search routines as usual. So please be prepared that the same hands that just touch the belongings from previous customers will touch yours. As of today, they don’t use and change disposable gloves after each customer like doctor office do.
3. DVC resorts still have daily housekeeping garbage removal / security check. It is not clear what or how much they touch your items. So if you are the paranoid type, you will need to wipe down disinfectant almost daily because there is no way to know if they touch your luggage or door knobs during the daily inspection. There is no “do not disturb” as the staff is still trained to enter your room unattended even if your room has one of those “Room Occupied” sign.
4. Restaurant staff are very friendly. Unfortunately most still talk over your table and cutlery for at least 5 minutes explaining their menu etc. I have seen saliva dropping on our table. I could not ask to replace whole set of silver tableware as it may offend them. So I had to wash them in my own drinking water before using them. And of course I had to ask for a new glass of water.
5. Local stores have sold out of sanitizers and Lysol wipes. You need to bring them yourself if you want to use them after rides often.

In summary if you decide to come here like I did, you need to have the nerves of steel. You will encounter small things upsetting you as it’s almost guaranteed.

No, they had to clarify that as well. They are NOT stopping cargo.

Nerves of steel is right. We cancelled for April. I was upset last week but this week I’m grateful for taking decisive action. No regrets. I couldn’t handle all you described while paying for the privilege of being scared out of my wits.

Cases going up IS a problem. This disease is damaging people’s organs. Leaving major scarring on previously healthy lungs. More of the cases of covid need hospitalization than the flu and that means strained resources at hospitals.
I’m not panicking and I’m not trying to scare people but this really needs to be taken seriously if we’re going to contain it. It’s not “just like the flu”.
That said, I’m leaving Saturday for 9 days at Disney. We are all healthy. We will take extra precautions and we will have a great time.

I know.. what a nightmare! My worry is now with the border..

This is what my husband said. We live on a border town (literally, our house is 1 mile from the border), and our province just reported it's first Covid case. How long until they start restricting travel from Canadians.
