Anyone getting worried about March Break Travel

Live update from WDW..,

It’s March 12. WDW is operating as usual. The places are crowded. Ride line-ups are shoulder to shoulder. Staff are friendly. There are occasional rude and evil visitors. There are Caucasians making fun of the situation if your race are from endemic areas. I have personally encountered people coughing at my family on purpose at us mocking COVID19. I hope this would not escalate further into racial attack.

I am so sorry. That is beyond appalling.

We are still going...hitting the road in about 4 hours and should be there tomorrow around noon... like the above poster we are all healthy and will take all the precautions we can

We have canceled. Disney returned our RO deposit (thankfully since technically they didn’t have to). Still trying to get ahold of Spirit to move our flights to our Aug trip, if not we’ll just eat the cost.

I’m worried about getting stuck in FL. Spirit canceled on us last Aug because the Detroit-MCO flights have continuing service to San Juan so they scrapped the entire thing - no other airline 🙄. One of my kiddos also has cold induced asthma though it rarely flares, it’s just not worth it for us.

We are scheduled to leave Tuesday the 17th and I just have no idea what to do. One minute I feel like no problem, the next I want to cancel.

CBC just had an article this morning with a recommendation from a medical officer asking Canadians to please suspend all non-essential travel, including to the US. Some of the latest cases in Canada are linked to US travel.

On another note, we told my oldest last night.

Hes 8, we were watching the hockey game when all the NBA stuff hit the fan. He put 2 and 2 together and asked about our Disney trip, and I couldn’t lie. He took it fairly well. Really sad of course, but we reassured him if we don’t go it just means not now, but we’ll go again as soon as we can. Emphasized all the cool new stuff that will be there. I hate you, COVID-19.

A co-worker and her DH and DD5 are going at the end of March. Her big concern is what if they don't let people OUT of the country by that time.

On another note, I have two co-workers who went to Vancouver for a non-essential work conference. I brought it up to HR this morning and lo and behold, an email came out all about Covid, how to not catch it, etc. I asked if they were going to be made to self-quarantine for 2 weeks, answer was no. I'm appalled by this lack of concern for the rest of us here at the office. This is really pi$$ing me off, actually.

We have some things I'm guessing may be cancelled as well. We had tickets to see the Globetrotters in April, which I'm guessing will be cancelled. We have a trip (not WDW) planned for June that I'm suspecting at best will need to be postponed, at worst, may need to be cancelled as well. And we're just waiting to see what happens with all of DDs medical appointments this spring. She was a candidate for a surgery that was looking to happen later this summer, that would hopefully help her. But since it's a non-life threatening/urgent surgery, I'm sure it's going to get postponed if we get swamped with cases. I'm guessing even some of her general appointments and consults will be post-poned as well. Not life threatening, but she has been suffering for years and hoping for years for a chance like this. To have it so close and then possibly ripped away, or post-poned longer, will be hard for a 9 year old to deal with.

Ugh. DH was mad last night. He teaches at our community college. Plenty of employees traveled over March break. They're not making any of them self-isolate. Said they're fine to come to work, just watch for symptoms. 🤦

It is interesting to read through the posts on this thread. I think what everyone needs to remember is that you need to do what is right for you and your family. Only you can decide what is right for your family - cancel your trip or go on your trip.
There are still many unknowns with the virus and every day the information provided is changing as well as more positive cases of the virus being reported each and every day. While there are currently no positive results in Orlando, that is something that could change.
We went back and forth with our decision and then made the tough decision to cancel our upcoming WDW trip and yes, while we may not have caught the virus at WDW, it was the right decision for our family because we felt that we would be focusing on the virus and not enjoying our trip. We decided that we would postpone our trip until later in the year when the virus is either under control or stopped so we will be able to enjoy our time at WDW. While some may not agree with our decision, this was the right decision for our family.
I agree ... It’s really being said that there are no states without cases, just states without testing (or enough accurate testing)

If I could get a refund from Sunwing or our travel insurance I may consider it but as of now Sunwing isn't doing anything and the cancellation insurance through my credit card isn't activated until a travel advisory for the states happens. I just don't want to get down there and then they announce the parks are closed for the next 2 months.

Thanks, I have been looking for this article with no luck, was it on the CBC ?

I just read on Cruise Critic that both Viking and Princess cruise lines are cancelling ALL cruises for the next 60 days...I would imagine the rest will follow suit shortly.

I just saw this on CNN's website...I am not surprised about Princess because they had 2 ships in quarantine and they need to restore people's confidence in them. I believe Viking also had a case on one of their ships so they too will want to minimize the spreading of the virus.
