Anyone Game? It’s my Sep 2013 Blog! I'm home; with a TR link in #1189, 10/14

Gorgeous photos - can't wait to see your photos of the fireworks while you're at Disneyworld

Magnificent fireworks shots!

:goodvibes

Such pretty shots! I need to get myself out to see some fireworks. We stayed home last night for 4th of July, just too much hulabaloo. Your shots are so pretty! At least I get them vicariously through your photos! :thumbsup2

Glad you enjoyed them vicariously. I hope you and Fran get to enjoy some of the events in your area soon.

I'm trying not to think about it. Wasn't so long ago that the firework gods and I weren't on very good terms.

Stunning I can't wait for your trip to start so I can travel with you all over :goodvibes

Me too! Me too.

Oooh, those are such wonderful shots!

Thanks. I was pleased with this set.

Wow wow wow - such brilliant shots. Yep - your Dis pics will be amazing.

Oh...the...pressure. :faint:

I am determined not to have any expectations on this trip. :rolleyes1

no pressure just expect to see pictures every day all the way from the minute you go to your airport to the minute I see you again :lmao: no pressure

But....you'll only see it retrospectively. I don't do live TRs at all. When I'm on holiday, I want to disconnect from normal life.

Beautiful pictures... my 4th shots were not near as clear... one of the things I run into is we have such high humidity that the smoke just hangs there in the sky after the powder explodes...

Thanks Brandi.

I think that's what I liked best about Friday night. There was a breeze blowing and the smoke just didn't seem to hang around much. Made for really nice and clear sparkler flowers in the sky. :thumbsup2

I hope you'll post your 4th shots?

:( Pity. I love looking at firework shots. Have you been to the Photoboard lately? Someone started a thread there for 4th of July shots.

I have not been over there in a very long time...

I will go look.. :-):-)

Melbourne Comicon 2013

The Comicon band wagon was back in Melbourne at the weekend! Guess who went????

Last year, Melbourne hosted its first ever Comicon and it was a surprising runaway success for the organisers. Seems like comic sub-culture is more than alive in Melbourne, we seem to have a veritable petri-dish full of closet comic geeks! Last year, the success came with organizational issues – the venue was too small and there was a distinct lack of crowd control over the weekend.

Not so this year. With a bigger venue and lessons learnt from last year, this year’s event was very smooth and went off without a hitch.

We got there early on Sunday morning. There was already a crowd there; and as we had pre-purchased our tickets, we joined the side of the queue that was appropriate.

We got tickets scanned and our entry wristbands handed to us whilst we were in line. Even Iron Man had to wear a blue band!

I did mention that the venue was a lot larger, didn’t I? We’re at the Royal Exhibition Building and if it looks familiar, you may recall that we’ve already been here this year….with the Flower and Garden Show.

There were quite a number of people at Comicon; but it never really felt cramped or crowded in here.

A number of people came in dress-up. Some were even ring-ins by the organizer but it all added to the atmosphere. Here are some of the ones that I liked.

He might not be Hugh Jackman; but this ring-in wasn’t too bad.

Star Wars was rather popular.

And given my sense of humour, this stand just had me laughing out loud. Literally!

Oh….before you ask, I’m not telling if I bought anything from this stand or not.

I liked the Tardis…..

….and this statue of Gandalf.

I’m also a Zelda fan; so I was pleased when this couple posed for me.

As with any Comicon, it’s about the Celebrities! And this year’s set was Charmed.

I went to a few panel sessions…..

…to grab some shots.

Shannon Doherty was surprisingly frank and honest with her answers. I liked her responses a lot.

Holly and Brian were a hoot. Sadly, I couldn’t stay long for their panel Q&A session.

I also made it to the Panel session for a not-Disney princess.

We were completely treated to an interesting session from Tia Carrera. And aside from Wayne’s World fans, there were a few Lilo and Stitch fans in the audience. She even sang Aloha Oe for us and gave us her best Nani voice! She was rather upset that she didn't get to voice Mulan - apparently Disney did contact her but her agent didn't tell her because she was working on True Lies at the time. Needless to say, she cut ties with that agent after that. It makes for an intriguing What If, eh?

As he didn't have an open Panel on Sunday, I didn't get his picture; but I also scored an autograph from William Shatner. I got Patrick Stewart’s last year…..so here’s hoping they get another Captain in town for next year’s convention!

Melbourne Comicon 2013

Oh my gosh....I love the Ori costume! I so miss that show. And DH would FLIP over Bumblebee.

We had a comicon in St. Louis this year as well. I didn't go but DH did and he loved it! He got to see Billy Dee Williams, Morena Baccarin, Dean Cain, Lou Ferrigno, Jason David Frank (who played the original Green Power Ranger) and of course Stan Lee. It was such a huge hit that they have already scheduled a bigger one for next year. We already have our tickets for that one!

Looks like you had an amazing time!

Wow... I have never been to comic con but know a few in the past who have gone....

It looks like you had fun and enjoyed yourself...
