Anyone fly Airtran?

Our sons have flown it a few times and have had very nice experiences with them. Flights were on time and they had no problems at all.

I flew them last year. It was great. Basically like southwest, but with assigned seats

We are flying in April and again in July. My husband and I flew them a couple of years ago and had no problems. I had to go with them over SW because I knew I would worry about the boarding/seating procedure. Now I just have to worry about Airtran changing the flight times

I flew with them once and during the four-hour delay (for a flight that lasts under 2 hours), I spoke with a couple who were forced to fly with them occasionally and they said that the $25 voucher that you receive to make amends for the inconvenience are nearly impossible to apply. I still have mine sitting in some drawer. Probably expired.

But lots of others seem to have had no problems...

DH flew them solo last Feb to meet DS and I in Ft Myers. He said it was just fine.

I love AIRTRAN ,the flights were smooth and on time and I think the planes are quite clean....

We have flown with them many times, most recently for a cruise over NYE. Our ship had customs problems so no one was allowed off for hours and we consequently missed our flight home. Though it was not their fault, they credited us the money (even the $50 change fee because my mom had changed her final destination the day before) and we're using it to go to Myrtle Beach, Savannah, and Disney in April!

I flew with them twice...that was 2 times to many!! First plane had NO a/c going from here to Florida..the stink when it came time to land in FLa was gross!! The second time the plane was delayed and we sat on the runway for 3 hours, wouldn't let my godson get up to use the bathroom..when he finally was able to he walkid in the door, undid his fly and lost control all over the place! Jet Blue on the other hand is awesome!

We use them all the time and have had zero problems. At times their airfares are low enough to make me reconsider driving to Flordia.

The first time was fine, no problems, nice crew, etc.

Second time, the flight attendants were rude, there was a "problem" with the plane after everyone boarded and we had to get off and wait for them to take a plane out of the hangar, have it stocked with beverages, etc. and then we finally were allowed to board and take off. After we landed in Baltimore, we waited over an hour and half for our luggage. The crowd was getting ugly by that time, let me tell ya. It was not a pretty scene! The fact that we weren't kept informed had us upset more than anything else. I am glad that they had us change planes, I would NOT have wanted to fly a plane that was unsafe.

I now prefer Delta out of Richmond when the fare is reasonable or SouthWest.

We used them back in Nov 04 .... No problems. Book online at their website. They have one of the youngest fleet of planes of all the airlines (fly a lot of the Boeing 717s).

I used airtrane from Philly to Orlando last year and had no problems. The plane was clean but Full so it took awhile for boarding to complete.

We flew them earlier this month and it was great. We used the online check in 24 hours prior to our flight out and picked our seats out, then went straight to the gate the next morning.

We booked with them again for our May trip, both times we got tickets for only 49.00 one way!

My DH and I used them a couple yrs ago-- NEVER again!
They managed to call my cell phone repeatedly to change the flight times, but when they ended up cancelling our return flight, no one bothered to call! And they were no help at all in scheduling a flight home the next day either. We finally had to book on a different airline just to get home ( and we PAID for that) Airtran said they would have gotten us home sometime, so they didn't need to help us with the other flight. The flight down was delayed so many times we didn't get into fla until about midnight-- we were only coming from NC and were supposed to be in wround 5pm.
I'm glad others had good experiences, but we hate them.

My SIL just flew AirTran from Newport News to Orlando yesterday and had no problems... except they assigned a few people the same seats and other seats weren't assigned at all. AT least they didn't overbook!

Thanks for the replies. We need to fly out to LA for our cruise in August and the flights out of Akron are much cheaper than out of Cleveland. South West hasn't come out with pricing yet for that time.
I don't know if I should book with Airtran now or wait until South West opens up.

We don't get most of the budget airlines like Jet Blue or Frontier. Our choices are very limited.
