Anyone fly Airtran?

Do you all realize that Airtran is Valujet reincarnated?

I wouldn't fly them.

I flew them once before in September 2003 out of BWI going to Vegas. They were fine, I'd fly them again.

As a matter of fact, I'll probably will be flying with them again out of PHL going to MCO for my next WDW trip. I don't trust US Airways anymore...

airtrans planes have rolls royce engines, and those limey's know how to build a car. :)

Airtran was fine with us and we flew them a few times out of BWI. That was until a large group of us were coming home from a course in Orlando and there were weather problems along the east coast. Airtran had no control over that, of course, but the customer service communication breakdown was so awful and somehow we were the only planeful of people who had to sleep in the Atlanta airport. It a long, complicated story, but one hand in management didn't know what the other hand was doing. I'd rather pay a lot more for a ticket than fly Airtran now.

Thanks again for the replies.

I am aware that Airtran was Valujet, which does make me a bit nervous, but they seem to have a much better track record now.

I may check Columbus to see what they have, especially if I am going to drive 1-1/2 hours to CAK.

I absolutely love AirTran and fly with them whenever possible. Their employees are friendly, prices are excellent and the majority of their fleet consists of brand new jets

Yeah, they are valujet reincarnated but in a good way. I would venture a guess that AirTran's fleet of planes average age is a lot newer than the other big full price airlines like USAir and Delta.

Denine,
All except one of my trips to orlando the past few years has been on Airtran out of Akron Canton. Airtran uses mostly all new planes. And I love flying out of Akron Canton. Not the traffic problems you find at other airports. No 10 mile long walks too the gate. If there is no wait at security its about a 2 minute walk to the gate

Not exactly true.

Airtran and Valujet started as two enitrely different companies. It was a year after the crash that Airtran and Valujet merged.

The crash was a Valujet airliner not an Airtran.

I flew them in December with no problems. I only paid $135 per ticket, lower than I ever paid with USAir. Most of their planes are new 717's, they got rid of the Valujet DC-9's. The Valujet Everglades crash was about 10 years ago and I don't believe they were held liable, it was the contractor who mislabeled shipping boxes of oxygen canisters. I wouldn't hold that against AirTran.

I have flown Airtran many times. Never a problem.
