Wow you guys are good. We have only received one single document so far.
My best friend is also an accountant, and does my taxes every year.
This year she said we are waiting until after Feb 15 because of some type of tax cut being debated in Congress with Prez-elect Obama that would be retroactive for last year.
I don't know if that is still on the table, but I am in no hurry at this point. I would love to have it, obviously, because we always get a rather large refund, but I can wait.
And please don't tell me we are having too much withheld - I will give you my husband's cell number and you can try to convince him.
(This is how we get to Disney every spring, so I have stopped complaining!)
I have a friend who is a tax accountant and she also suggested waiting, because of laws that could be changing and credits that could be added.
But this year I have to do the FAFSA and the CSS Profile for college financial aid so I am planning to spend some time this Saturday doing the taxes. I can't submit them until I get one of DH's 1099R's since one of his pensions does withhold. But everything else I pretty much know from the year end statements.
With Obama's proposed middle class tax cut, workers would have less money taken from their check each month for taxes. As a result, people would have more available funds to spend in the stores, which is especially important after the less than spectacular holiday sales in 2008.
