Anyone file their taxes yet?

Oh good, I filed on the 15th but mine still says "pending". I really was looking forward to getting that direct deposit on the 30th. I have 1/3 for savings, 1/3 to pay off our Spring break trip & the other 1/3 for a couch & sofa (ours is too old). Now just looking for a good deal on furniture ! I don't want to spend an arm & a leg !

Where are you going to check? I am getting frustrated...on the IRS website I know it says you can check after 7 days and obviously it hasn't been 7 days for me...but when I go in...every single time it tells me my session has expired. I am hoping HRB filed it on the 16th like they were supposed to!

Oh I did my online and I can check that way.

Hmm Ours for Active Duty was always up in the beginning of Jan. He's a reservist right now so I guess I would keep checking every day although I don't recall him getting 2 w-2 when he got off active duty and went back to reserve it was all on one w-2...

We've always gotten our active duty ones mid to late January. It's usually pretty close to the NLT date. I didn't know whether to expect one or two W-2's from them this year, but his National Guard one definitely couldn't be for active duty, too, the income isn't high enough.

I filed through H & R block so I use their website which will send me an e-mail when it's accepted or I can check anytime I want.

FOR THE TURBOTAX USERS WHO HAVE ALREADY FILED:

I was just on the TT website checking my status again and found something interesting on their message boards. A Poster stated that they called TT Customer Service to find out why they were still 'pending' even tho it has been over 48 hours since 1/16. They were told not to expect to hear anything from the IRS until Tuesday, 1/20, because of the weekend and holiday.

Thought I'd pass that along. :)

I filed on the 15th and they just updated my information. It has been excepted today.
Said I should have my direct deposit on 1/30.

You know what! I just logged in and mine hasn't been accepted by the IRS yet either, oops!! Hopefully today! I filed on Friday. I know it says it must be accepted by the 22nd for the 30th deposit date, so I think we're good.

I would check today. Mine just showed a change in status. It was accepted and I should recieve my refund on 1/30.

Yep! :thumbsup2 Filed Friday and, between state and Federal, should be getting back a hefty amount that's going straight into savings. :thumbsup2

I am getting back a good size one too! I am excited. :thumbsup2

Did you read on the IRS website that they're trying to get their refunds out in "as little as 10 days". That would be nice! :thumbsup2

This would be nice. I would love to get it earlier if not I am happy it's the
30th.

We filed and ours says pending. I'm hoping to hear something today

I would check again today. There should be a change in status.

Hmm, I just signed on and the child tax credit was done....yay. My adoption tax credit form is still pending though, plus we'll be waiting on that 1099R, so it'll be mid February before we get it filed.

PLEASE EXPLAIN THIS...we adopted 2 special needs kids this year. Is there a special form I need to file.

yay just checked H&R Block website and they accepted my return!

Was it active duty in Iraq? If so the income isn't all on the same line, the non-taxable income is in either box 12 or 14, I can't remember since I don't have DH's in front of me. My DH is National Guard, but currently active and all of his was on the same W2.

Just got home from Chuckee Cheese & had an e-mail from H & R block that my tax refund was accepted ! Yeii !! Hope to get it 1/30 & already checking craiglist for some "recession" good deals on living room furniture. & then hitting priceline for our hotel reservations for Orlando. The good thing about this recession (if there is such a good thing) I am looking so much more carefully on when I buy something. Before I would of run to rooms to go, got new furniture, stayed at Disney onsite & not have a care in the world. Now I manage our money better & it's going a lot farther ! I just keep in my prayers those that have lost jobs & their homes. I thank God every day for every blessing my family has no matter how small or big :flower3:

I was wondering for the pp's who mentioned about not filing until after the
15th......

What exactly did your tax friends tell you we would be getting back extra? I did a lot of research and the only thing I can come up with is a $500 tax cut for single and $1000 for a couple. It was explained that its like the stimulous check but rather is a tax cut...??? The report I found was dated Jan 5, 09. So I'm not sure when/if this will be passed.

How hard is an amendament to do? If I use taxact.com will I have to pay for this? I know I should probably just wait and do it later in Feb but of course like everyone else we NEED this money sooner then later;)

Thank you,
Tiffany

I would like to know more about the tax thing in Feb. I thought it was going to be like last time where they sent out checks after they see how many are in the family and your amount of money?
If this is true then I guess we should wait until the middle of Feb.

We are two adults 2 kids and one income so maybe great for us. ??????

We usually get $2,000.00 back.:cool1: And owe a small amount to the state weird:drive:

I hope we get money back this year also. I always get scared. That is why my DH has to do the taxes. I do the budget.pirate:

What is this February thing everyone is talking about? Sending out checks?

Okay, just read about it. They are trying to get the new stimulus package approved before mid February when Congress goes into recess. It looks like- if approved, every worker will receive a $500 tax credit. I would assume if this passes, it will be in check form again, OR you can file an amendment to your taxes. I personally would like to start shopping for our vacation as soon as possible so I will take my money sooner rather than later!
